    MX Gearing

Depends on tire size and track conditions really. I don't like to be geared to low on a slippery track because all I do is spin.
  2. That was me.. .fuckin pissed me off. Nahh, I didn't hear about that .. lol Maybe they were racing for titles.
  3. Sell the standard shocks and use the money to have the rezzie ones rebuilt.
  4. I'm sure you'd need to check it anyway. It may not pull enough air to make a huge difference. I've noticed some of the smaller machines are rich anyway. It may just run better by leaning the whole circuit but not need to be rejeted because its overdone already.
  5. Yep. You may just have a bad stator, but you said you are getting voltage out righ. Maybe you have a ground that came off.
  6. Check to see if the bulbs are both blown. If so you may have a bad voltage regultor or the wire came off of it. It's the silver box near the cdi in the back.
  7. Ray, I have had that problem too. It was actually rich but felt lean So... you may have to play with it. Start by lowering the needle. If that help the very bottom but messes up the mid and top switch to a longer needle. I use g length in the kehin. It helped mine crazy. I went from a cel to a cgl. It was sputtering at 1/8th throttle, and slight bog if I just hit the gas. The sputter is what clued me in to rich even though it felt lean when I hammered the gas. Jetting can be crazy. Mine also had the lean bog on top but it was rich. Got worse as I went up with jetting. Lowered the main and it started to pull out of it. Banchetta and I play with jetting every time we get togehter. Glamis was no different. What pilot are you running though. I had to go to a 38 and may have to go to a 35. Finally have some heat in the pipe at lower rpms since I went down to the 38. It's nuts. Anyway, like loco said, what's the jetting now. And don't be fooled. All the circuits overlap more than people think.
  8. He probably had an air leak that burned a hole in that piston. Replace the crack seal, shift shaft seal, kick starter seal and whatever other seals come in the kit. Don't forget to fill the lips of the seals with grease. Makes them last much longer. You'll get more than one season out of it if you do it right. If the cranks fine you won't have to put much into it at all. If it needs a crank add $350 to $400 to the project. Check the carb boot for cracks too. Air could have came in there. Pistons arone $180 Bore and hone $50 for both at passion Seals $25 - $30 Gasket set $25 yamabond $6.00 New coolant and trany oil
  9. Okay, for stock the way it is. Have the crank looked at by tdr. You may pay shipping but it's worth it. If the cranks fine you might have $30 to $50 into it. Problem is ... when a crank bearing fails it takes the bore, piston, rings and head with it. Make sure to have the crank looked at by someone who knows what they are doing. There use to be a web site called thebansheezone.com that had a step by step on splitting the cases but it's shut down right now. You will not mess up the tranny by splitting the cases. Get a clymers manual though. Really. There is a lot of good info and it will pay for itself.
  10. Looks like a polaris snow mobile pipe. Do they make one for the banshee?
  11. If you get a clymers manual it's step by step. You'll want the torque specs anyway. If you already took the motor out, it's a piece of cake really. Take it out, send it to tdr. tony doukas racing and pay for a rebuilt crank. It sure is a good time to put a 4mm stroker crank in there. Anyway, then send the cyliders to passion racing and have him bore the cyinders and get you a piston kit with gaskets and a seal kit for the motor. Inspect the tranny bearings while you have it apart. If you have some money and want to make it fast it's the perfect time to do it. Otherwise you may never find a reason to tear the motor down again.
  12. Keihin are easier to take apart and jet. The tops screw off easy, the needles come out with a 6mm socket and some with use both the 6mm and a flat head screw driver. The 6mm is the same size as the main. For jetting purposes I believe the keihin's are easier. I think most mikuni's are are screw tops and takes two mini screws to take the needles out.
  13. If you go to far the cooling efficency get worse. You can get hot and cold spots with the cylinder wall to thin. Eric Gorr will def hook you up.
  14. I measured my ricky stator plate and it was 4.5mm for 4 degrees. That's a good base for the banshee. YOu can cut the screw slots on the stator plate 4.5 mm and get the advance for free. Ricky Stator plates are only $35 and you can see how much advance you have.
  15. My kids... Still not yes or no... workin on it for sure !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. First thing I thought of too. What kind of reed are you running. Have you check your float height.
  17. Cool. Where at. Silver lake may be looking on the downside more than the upside right now for me.
  18. The a " lock washer" that you have to bend up to hold that adjuster in place. I had a problem with that to. It was messing up my shifting during racing.
  19. Ding Ding... yep. Same here. I haven't done any super steep hill climbing with it yet but I've done everything else. The sand was tough with big paddles. Other then that... you can ride wheelies easy ( as far as the balance point goes). It turns faster, more traction, it fits in the truck better.
  20. Also, do a search. There was a really good topic with pics about turf tamers.
  21. Everything you need you can buy at the gate JT. You do want paddles. There are hotels and campgrounds that you can stay at. http://www.silverlakesanddunes.com/directory.html Mapquest says it's about 11hrs --> directions I think it's 16 to 20 for the orv sticker for any vehicle you want to take onto the sand ie... truck or quad. $4 a day for parking but they charge parking for the quads too! So if you have 5 quads and one truck it's $24 a day for parking and if you aren't going to take the tuck out the stickers for the yr are about $100 for all 5 quads. You will need spark arrestors. You should order some before you go. The store does run out. Last yr they ran random db levels. If they get you, wait about 20 min and go again. Not to big of a deal. You have to have googles and a 10 ft flag ( distance from the ground). The sell plenty of these there though for $15 to $20. As far as riding goes it doesn't compare to the size of glamis. You can ride silver lake several times in one day. I think it's about 500 acres but it is still fun and closer than glamis !!
  22. Buy a used one, tear it down and put it back together the way you want it selling any stock parts you don't need. It's going to be very very expensive to build one from the ground up.
  23. Bump and ttt (to the top) is to get the posted bumped up to the top of the list. Everytime someone post to something it gets re time stamped and moved to the top for people to see. Looks like a very nice machine by the way.
