To tell you the truth, I had the same opinions as you. I think Ohton, tyson and a few others are good too. What I really wanted was to clear my opinion on you. Sorry, but at first I wasn't sure if you were just another builder trying to make a buck on this site. Sorry about the wrong opinion. You have helped tremendously without selling yourself and everyone appreciates that. Keep it up. Everyone see's what your doing and it's good. Again, sorry for creating a biased opinion without knowing who you are, but we've seen a lot of poeple come through here just trying to sell themselves. I'm glad to see you're here to help others. Thanks for such an honest answer.

Oilsmoke, I was thinking the same thing unless he is talking about to correct an already ported motor. A 4mm stroker does not need long rods. Dan at patriot racing doesn't use long rods until 7mm. They do relieve some of the stress, but a 4mm with stock rod length may yeild a little more power.

The 450's are around 6700 I think. As far as clothing, it's up to you. A lot of people just buy the basics like helmet, gloves and some safety gear. Then they just wear jeans to ride. Others like to wear the full gear. As far a quality of riding gear... it's all pretty close to the same. Mostly loyalty to a brand and looks.

You'll really have to let us know what type of riding he does to help you decide. I really believe the new yamaha 450 is one of the best all around quads there is right now.... stock for stock. But, they aren't cheap. Maybe you have a budget that we could also go by. By the way, welcome.

How in the heck did you get the cylinder to hold compression? The gauges are made to not let air back out anyway. I'm a little confused on that one led.. Well, if you compression is low and you put oil in it and the compression becomes a normal number then your rings are the problem. As far as the oil, it's probably best to use whatever you run with your fuel.

I'll thinking the opposite boonman. Holding the throttle open with such little air flow (not running just kicking it over) doens't allow as much fuel to flow. There is less vacuum when you hold the throttle open. It also allows more air to compress. To test your rings, do the test cold. Take your reading. Then put a table spoon of oil in the cylinder through the spark plug hole and test again. If there is a significant increase in compression, you need to fix the problem.

I may be heading to the badlands, but not sure. Are you postive you're going to haspin?

Andy's engines do haul ass, your bike should scream Rod, sounds like as your budget allows you'll be goin faster and faster, im lucky enough to have my wife stay home with my varmits as well, id rather have a 70hp shee and good children than 90hp and paying someone to raise them for me, and on behalf of your wife ill bet she's workin her ass off just not gettin paid, my wife went to visit relatives for a week once leaving me to take care of the kids, i couldnt wait to go back to work!!............ You're damn skippy. I watched the kids while she went to New York for a week... Damn, it's rough. And, what you said about someone else raising the kids.... You better believe it. That's why we worked it out the way it is. I make decent money so it works out.

Well, Andy says his motor will put out 82-85 with the right carbs, pipes etc. I am gettting the pro port he offers. I am taming is also...., for money reasons mostly. I have fmf fatties and 28mm flatslide carbs. He says although the top end won't be maxed, the throttle response should be kick ass. I'm also adding delta force reads and taking out my ported cages (again for throttle response). Andy's motors also win trophys so I confident it will run. Also, I wish I had the $$$ to do a turn key, but I'm going out on a limb just spending what I am... with christmas and all. I have 3 little ones and my wife doesn't work... just me . So, even though I just sent my head and cylinders, I'm hoping for the same results. Have fun duece. Let us know what you think.
