  1. i was taught that by my grandpa when i was young. Ive also been told that by more then one mechanic. It was explained to me that if its not inline with the connecting rod that the movement of the piston can cause wear on the circlips by closing their gap slightly millions of times over time, causing premature wear and eventually lead to failure. Buddy went to school to be a motorcycle mechanic and told me they taught him that also.
  2. Have a link of the AC nerfs you guys are talking about?
  3. You would either have to eyeball them or use a sync tool wich measure vacuum http://www.farmandsandtoys.com/partdetail.asp?partid=59.
  4. I really like how these things look, price seems a little inflated at $289 but what are your opinions on these things? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-Banshee-Pro-Peg-Nerf-bars-fits-all-years-/400176900792
  5. yep, that is the idle. turn them the exact same amount of turns each. I believe clockwise raises idle, counter clockwise lowers it. Although don't quote me it may be the reverse its been a long time since i had a set of those installed.
  6. Think your confusing rings and cir-clips possibly. Maybe im reading it wrong. edit i should elaborate: Rings will go on with the pins protruding thru the gap area no other way to do this, the cir clip gap should be either straight up or straight down centered on the wrist pin.
  7. Carburetor sync is critical on multi cylinder/carb engines. Did you sync carbs properly after reassembling them? This can drastically effect performance and longevity of your engine. Honestly the best way To sync them and set idle would be to have one of the carb sync tools wich measure vacuum thru the carb like this http://www.farmandsandtoys.com/partdetail.asp?partid=59 and make sure each carb shows exactly the same vacuum pressure at idle and adjust each idle screw accordingly to match. Then use the same tool to make sure they also match at a higher RPM so you can be sure that both slides are moving in sync. If they are not in sync at higher RPM then you would use the cable adjuster on the carb caps to adjust them properly. you can search youtube for a walkthru of this procedure. As for pilot size and A/F screw adjustments, typically if your A/F screws are 1/2 turn out or less for a crisp off idle throttle response then you need a larger pilot. If they are more then 2 turns out for a crisp off idle response then you would go a size lower. those pipes and filter mods like at least a 27.5. personally i run 30s in a similar bike with good results.
  8. sounds odd, you should trace the switch down a foot or so and unplug it from the harness.
  9. There i fixed it for you. Proper grammar and punctuation is a plus when you are calling some one else stupid.
  10. do as you wish, i just thought you didn't realize the post was years old and the OP hadn't even logged on in a millennium so doubtful they would do so to answer your reply.
  11. yes you are correct on location of Tors box. just unplug it and leave it unplugged that will kill any issues it causes. The parking brake switch is on the clutch lever, electrical wire plugs in to clutch lever. just unplug it.
  12. unplug tors box and disconect parking brakes switch.
  13. no, YOU need to re-read your own posts and the order the comments where posted in apparently. so i posted you replied yet again with no mention of a compression or saying your engine had 0 compression. i again asked you what your compression was cause you never stated it STILL! still at this point no mention of a broken engine. even after asked 2 times what your compression was but you come back with a smart ass remark like the this. So who should have read what? With comprehension skills like your own its no surprise as to why you have a blown engine. We are not mind readers but its obvious that even if we could read minds there is nothing in yours to read. You sir are an idiot. Good day sir
  14. 0 for 2 so far, start looking at post dates on the threads your reviving sir. and possibly the last time the author even logged in.
  15. didnt even look at that post or thread, thought you were just posting in reply to the topic of race gas. I'd be running 110 personally possibly a 50/50 mix but I would have checked my compression when purchasing it myself and would have had a good idea of what I needed. 19cc domes is a dead giveaway pump fuel is most likely too low octane. Also what do your domes look like now? Are they all pitted from detonation?
  16. u didnt say what your compression was at.
  17. I would also spam his youtube videos linked from his website with these messages so people looking at his dyno runs get the message or facebook if he has one!
  18. i understand and feel his pain. 3 threads and 10 posts in a day wont fix his issue though. If he is serious he needs to contact the better business bureau, Jims local PD, make a claim at the internet fraud prevention site. at the very least i would add them to http://www.ripoffreport.com/ or something that will some how get a message to passion that he cant just hold peoples shit hostage with out even a return call, JMO and not even sure the best way to go about it but id be trying something..
  19. what is your compression and what kind of porting? according to the chart i posted earlier in this thread those domes on a stock engine, stock porting would yield about 183 psi at sea level. Increased stroke would raise compression. heavy porting could lower cranking compression giving you a false idea of octane needed. you will definitely need more then pump fuel unless your at a very high altitude. Edit: realized it wasn't this thread I posted the dome to elevation chart so here it is.
  20. ya his port work is kinda pricey also, he told me 450 for a trail port and mill my head.
  21. damn tricked that's fucked up, i live not far from there and pass lakes and magics every day on the way home from work so i get shit from them through out the season when i need it. Even talked to them about some port work. Figured i should use a more specialized builder then them tho in the end. glad i didn't use them after hearing this
  22. what did you end up selling it for if you don't mind me asking?
  23. you cant be bothered to type out what those air box mods are but were supposed to look it up to help you? sure thing
