  1. not much i guess, i hope you dont have children
  2. I appreciate your input Nieskes and with a very short skim of your links its obvious you have a very good point. But seriously hes a 15 year old kid on a limited budget who happens to live very close to Ray so i made the recommendation. I didn't really know the severity of his horrible business practice just that he was obviously greedy. I just think it would have been much better received by maybe stating your knowledge of him since thats what this is about rather then making a personal jab and calling us morons because were not as informed on a subject as you.
  3. if your positive that your getting fuel i would pull the plugs see how they look. do they have gas on them after trying to start it? do they look dirty and full of carbon? maybe try seeing how they spark when grounded to the motor.
  4. Well im not going to defend him as i don't know what he scammed people on here for as Ive been a member for like 4 months. Ive known he doesn't give whats pictured in his ebay adds but it says so in the add. I dont agree with that type of tactics but i wouldnt label him as a scammer because of it. Greedy. obviously. maybe you know more then we do then and instead of calling us morons like a childish fuck enlighten us
  5. Dont hold back, tell us how you really feel man! all kidding aside sorry he scammed you man that sucks. hate that shit. he appears to be banned tho buddy
  6. ↑ this and also that the correct bowl went on the correct carb they are not interchangeable
  7. yep its a stock yamaha crank. well i assume it is i have a crank out of a 2000 that appears to have never been touched before me and it says that on the rods. Just 29L on one side and other side has a P on one and an O on the other
  8. contact him thru the craigslist add. dont think he lists a number. or this is his bussiness http://www.motorcityatv.com/contact-us/
  9. only thing that sticks in my head was he wanted 125 for carbs yet his add said 100 my brother did get him to accept 100. and he wanted 30 for a stator cover that clearly said 15 on his add. like i said get a price first cause he will claim his add isn't up to date. i did get a set of FMF turbine cores in like new condition for 150 but i had to refuse the first set and he let me look at a box with about 15 powercores/turbine cores and i picked the best ones and didn't try to raise the price.
  10. Ya look at the cylinder base nuts see if they even have tool marks. and other screws and nuts to see if they even look touched. Anyone can say it has a new crank but only a receipt would mean it likely does. Also his Term "34mm Drag carbs" makes me wonder if he even knows anything about these anyways.Sounds more like a marketing tactic.
  11. Wasnt everytime and it was only 5 or 10 dollar diffrence but it was the principle to me. He was only present one time i was there out of maybe close to 10. My brother bought more stuff then me and always wanted me to ride along. Normally he had a worker in the shop that would call him and ask details when you arrive. he would tell him a price. I usually didnt want the part he offered and he ended up showing me where a pile of them where and having me choose.
  12. what ever price he told me i wouldn't let him change it or i wouldn't buy it just out of principle thats for sure. And i do agree with Starwriter I honestly haven't bought anything from him since summer and it was an emergency situation. Just thought i would mention it as being young i know you dont have tons of cash to throw around.
  13. ya i agree with you, At the time i didnt know his history or heard thing bad of him. was just a guy who had the parts i needed at a good price. ive never been scammed from him but its hard to scam you face to face unless your an idiot. He did usually try to charge more then we agreed upon. I would just say hey you told me x amount if its more then that then i dont want it. If it meant waiting 2 weeks for my part to come in and not ride, Id still deal with him.Same thing goes of he was WAY cheaper then everyone else. Id do it. Only in person though
  14. yes several times, my brother and I both. None of our local shops carry much stuff for these bikes other then cables and levers really. anytime we needed anything we would have to order it so we would get it from Ray so it wouldnt stop us from riding the next day.
  15. if nothing else its pretty interesting to see how many frigging bikes he has. there is a wall of pictures that they used to take pics of every bike. im sure they stopped doing that but it has 100's of pictures and normally 15-20 bikes waiting to be stripped. Its actually saddening how many bikes he has torn into pieces.
  16. You could send Ray(minkia38) a message on craigslist tell him your local and want to come by and buy some plastics his shops usually open mon-fri till 5pm or so sat earlier. his house/polebarn is at 26,schoener area macomb twp then you could see what your getting before you send him money. He will most definately not send you whats pictured in any of his adds on ebay. http://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/for/4259178975.html also get a price from him on the phone dont count on his price list he will tell you its not up to date.
  17. i looked at several different options to do this not sure which one i used but this is in my bookmarks so maybe this one https://www.nicb.org/theft_and_fraud_awareness/vincheck/vincheck. I also had my boss have his PD buddy run my vins and they all came back good. Edit: this is where i recieved the report i have. found it in email https://www.vinaudit.com/vin-check actually it ends up routing you to the first link anyways even if you use the second link.
  18. seems more then just passion have long wait times. I think simply being up front about extended lead time would avoid most bad opinions but would undoubtedly lessen business. how long it would REALLY take so you can make an informed decision if you want them to still do your work. Of coarse this is rarely the case...
  19. you can run a vin check online to see before hand. It cost about 30 do so wich allowed me to run unlimited vin#s for 30 days, if its just a lean you can contact the lean holder and being the lean will be so old they will probably sign off on it. if its stolen they will definitely confiscate it immediately obviously. so far 3 bikes i ran a check on, 1988, 1989, 2000 came back as never registered/titled since the original owner never took the certificate of origin and had a title produced so they could avoid paying the sales tax i assume.
  20. in michigan anyways wich looks like you are in also. You have a police officer come to your house and look at the bike. he runs the Vin and if it comes back not stolen and no lean listed. he writes you out a certificate. you take that to SoS and show that to them and fill out a form to certify ownership. they issue you a bonded title then mail you a real title in about 30 days
