That's good to here. The paint really is a good color. Cant wait to see my new fenders on it. Hopefully Tuesday they will be here. I got it 85% back together today.

I didn't cut any tabs or extra stuff off, I have the DNP pipes. I plan to do small things black like the foot pegs of course. Brackets, A arms and stuff. To me paint works good on frames. Powder coating is very hard and get's brittle. Paint will always have a more flexible, softer finish but that doesn't mean that its not durable. A rock can fly and hit your paint and it will only dent the paint. It may never chip or peel if you have prepped it properly. A rock can hit powder coat and chip it immediately because it is so brittle. Then your stuck with that chip unless you want to dab paint in it. With spray paint you can make it look perfect again with a tiny sand job and mist of paint. back to 100% You cant do that with powder coat. Thanks for the replies, it makes it all worth doing

I agree on the powder coating being over rated. It has its purpose and is nice, but its not always the best choice. Thanks for the comments guys, Ill make sure to post more as it gets closer to being done.

You realize frame's come from factory's painted and not powder coated? Until recently most all frames from the factories are paint, some still are. Spray paint may not be as durable as car paint but it is close. It's not as crappy as the spray paint from 5-10 years ago. Get some nice clear from a local auto paint dealer and it's very durable. They have wheel clear coat at the parts store that is as hard and chemical resistant as powder coating. It's all about the prep time you put in. I have done many frames with spray paint and have great results for year's. Preparation is the key to all paint jobs. I don't ride thru brush 24-7 so it'll hope up just fine Im not here to argue about powder coating vs spray paint. Just was bored and posted my project.

Rustoleum Cobalt Blue Metallic over Rust inhibitor primer. Ive always had good luck with Rustoleum on frames, never have a chipping or peeling problem on anything I ever done. The good thing is it's always easy to touch up because you have some at the store lol. Powder coating was out of my budget right now. But I really do like the fact I can go to just about any store and pick up a can for touch up's. You cant do that with powder coating.

Well after riding one day My friends quad put a whole in my front fender, they were faded and all clouded and was never happy with them anyways so I decided to buy all new fenders. I figured since Im getting new fenders why put them on a dirty bike. Sooo... here is pics of before and after. Its not done yet but I got the frame painted today. Is it drags or oval? Id kill to do some flat track oval racing.

Id really like to do dirt flat track ovals. Dirt or grass drag track would be fun as well Anyone know of anything in upstate NY?

Thanks for the replies theshee I ordered the Maier today. The UFO's were to hard to find. Even if I did and had a problem a year from now it would be impossible to find a match. Atleast the Maier I think it would be easy to order a replacement. I will take pics on how well it matches the OEM tank and radiator pieces. Just for reference. I tried to find comparisons on here but found none. Im sure others would like to know. Ill be the gunniepig I guess.

Maier is like 398 shipped, UFO is about 450 shipped at http://www.procycledepot.com/UFO_Replacement_Fenders_For_Banshee-8-10324-91087.html. I dunno about the Canadian site fastbanshee posted but shipping would prolly be crazy to the US.I planned on calling them in the morning. They only have the option for free pickup. How much are OEM fenders shipped? My budget is 400$ and I cant go higher Id love to see some pictures of people with blue Maier plastics.

I want to order a set today or tomorrow and want a good idea of the color of dark blue. I think that's the only blue they offer? Im hoping is real close to the stock Yamaha color. I want the UFO fenders but they seem impossible to find a blue set. Please post pics asap! It would help me greatly! I searched this forum all over and haven't found any.

Id buy it... Im paying 450 for new plastics alone for an 88 banshee... Id buy it and use the frame so I could say my banshee was a 2000 lol.

Does anyone know where? My budget is $400 I really want the UFO ones because I know the color is good and close to the stock OEM. The maier plastics im not sure how well will match. I want to order a set tomorrow.

I do appreciate all the help alot. I wish someone who had bought the Maier dark blue ones would chime in and see how the colors match up. The laker ones are ok but they don't have the blue and I HATE the race cut plastics lol. If someone knows a place that sells the UFO blue ones for cheaper I would forever be grateful! I can get the maier front and rear for $398 shipped. The cheapest UFO ones so far are about 450. My budget is 400 and I cant go over it . I would have no problem buying maier if someone could post a pic of the blue ones Someone must have them!

I looked all over for those UFO plastics, did you find them quickly on google or have the page saved? lol If im going to buy new plastic im going to want to take my whole 4 wheeler apart and make it look brand new. I wish I could see the difference between the maier and ufo in person

Im about to buy new fenders. My tank and radiator piece are stock Yamaha blue I think. I want to order new plastics but im afraid the Maier dark blue wont match? Anyone have pics or ideas? I was going to buy the TDR ones but they said for racing motors so I stayed away from them. It was between the TDR ones and Vito's. I ordered the Vito's soley on the TDR ones saying for a race motors without much info on stock or slightly modded engines. Woulda loved to try them if they would have worked.
