  1. Thanks for the input Larry. I think I will order some 25 and 30 pilots. I synced the carbs yesterday. It starts first kick when cold and idles perfect. The only thing that concerns me is the air screws not having an effect on the idle. I can close them all the way and the idle doesn't change.
  2. Good point. I will check that. The idle screws work fine though. And the idle is set.
  3. My banshee has the following mods.... Dune/play port Fresh bore/hone T5 pipes 4 force 4's Cfm airbox with k&n's Boss intake Dynatek Cdi Stock carbs Passed the leak test The carbs have been cleaned in my sonic cleaner and the choke tube is installed. I have 310 mains, 27.5 pilots, air screws at 2.5 turns out and stock needles in 3rd slot. I got it fired up and was trying to dial the pilot jet in. It sounds pretty good and revs clean with no noticeable flat spots. The thing that concerns me is I can turn the air screw all the way in and it make no change in the idle. I can also open them all the way up and no change. After all the reading I've done I figured I would be at 27.5. I don't have any 30's right now, but looks like I'll be ordering them. The main will be easy cause I'll plug chop it and I'll be able to feel the needle. I know how to jet these carbs, but I've never seen one where the air screw makes no difference. And yes I gave the motor time to catch up to the adjusted mixture. Thanks
  4. So I just went out and messed with it some. Let me start by saying I do know how to jet a two stroke carb. I have jetted a couple bikes and got them really close if not perfect. I own a sonic cleaner and the carbs on the shee are absolutely spotless. I went out and fired it up in one kick with full choke. I attempted to adjust the air screw to determine what size pilot I need. For some reason I am able to seat the mixture screws with no change in idle. I can also take them 4 turns out with no noticeable change in idle. I know you have to give it some time for the engine to catch up to the mixture change. I have never seen this before. Usually if it mixture needs to be more than 2 turns out to achieve highest idle then it needs a smaller pilot and vice versa. The bike seems to rev clean with no flat spots. Any advice?
  5. The wired thing i think the 27.5 pilots might be a little much. I had the air screw out 3 turns and it sounded pretty good. I just did the 3rd heat cycle so now i'll sync the carbs (with sync tool) and start the jetting process.
  6. I didn't do anything with the crank. I pulled on the rods and they had no play in them. I probably should have ad it tried and welded. If it goes I'll build a 4mm
  7. Can you guys look at my mods in the first post and give me jetting suggestions? I ride at sea level and haven't plug chopped yet"
  8. Thanks for the pics sheerider. I will look and see if they are there. I have 27.5 pilots in there right now. My mods are in my first post. Think I might go back to stock, but I'll have to order them. The motor shakes around a good bit. It just sucks cause I have never owned a banshee or known anyone that has. I have a gopro and I'm going to try to make a video. I might just be paranoid.
  9. I don't remember seeing them. I'll look when I get home. I will probably have to order them.
  10. I am not sure. I will have to check. It has the two rubber things that mount to the bottom of the motor on the front side. I will check the washers. Can somebody give me some more info on the washers that go on the bottom of the motor?
  11. Ok so this is normal and nothing to worry about? Thanks for all the help guys, I really appreciate it.
  12. I had the wires backwards. I connected the key wires and it fired up first kick! It does seem to vibrate a lot though. I have never owned a banshee before so I don't know what to expect. When it's idling the brake lever is vibrating. These motors have counterbalances, right?
  13. Also I couldn't even get it to fire at all without giving it some throttle. The tors is removed.
  14. So I finally got everything together and tried to fire it up tonight. It is firing, but won't stay running and backfires a little bit. Mods.... T5 pipes Ported cylinders Fresh top end V force 4's Boss intake Cfm airbox K&n filters Cool head w/ 22cc domes Stock carbs 27.5 pilots, 310 mains, stock needles, air screw 2 turns out Dynatek Cdi ( I have spark) new br8es plugs Here is what I have done before trying to start it. Leak tested (passed) Cleaned carbs in my sonic cleaner (spotless) 93 octane 32:1 with maxima oil Turned in idle screw until I felt it touch the slide. Then went 1.75 more turns I'm open to any and all suggestions. The bike does not have a key. When I was making sure it had spark I noticed the key wires were not connected. So I tied them together seeing if it still sparked and it did. The wires are now together. Could this be my problem?
  15. Looking for a set of a arms in good shape. Can be standard or long travel. Text 443-871-8291 with pics and price shipped to 21122. Thanks
  16. Thanks. I will start a new thread with all the pics and aftermarket goodies.
  17. Well I wouldn't say my pockets are deep. This is one of many toys though. I'm working on getting it put back together now. Fitting the boss intake, cfm airbox and t5 pipes took some fabbing. Getting close though.
  18. UPDATE. I bought the dynatek CDI and coil. Sparks like a champ now. Ended up being the CDI. I put the old CDI on with the new coil and it wouldn't spark.
  19. Sorry guys I made a mistake here. This bike is a 96 not a 99. Not sure if that makes any difference. I know the Cdi is different.
