  1. Is a tapered bearing carrier simply a roundhouse carrier with tapered bearings?
  2. What are the performance differences between the 2 types. Would one be better than the other, or why get one vs. the other. Fyi -I ride 50% desert and 50% Glamis.
  3. I also run 8 psi for my front mohawks and 4 in the rear.
  4. When my Shee only had T5 pipes and a port I ran 14/44 with 20x10x10 Skat Trak Edge's and liked it. It gave me more bottom end power. Riding the dunes at Glamis I rarely used 5th gear. Now with a 4 mil stroker i'm using 14/41 (stock) gearing with the same Skat Trak tires and will most likely go to 13/41 gearing for more bottom end power.
  5. Never mind. I ended up having to drill the holes out just a tad bit bigger to make the bolts fit.
  6. Does one have to drill the holes slightly bigger to fit the existing bolts into them? I noticed I currently have to screw the bolt into the holes.
  7. Forgot to mention it's a 4 mill stroker.
  8. I have a Banshee with 165 psi compression in both cylinders at 600' elevation. My timing is +3 +4 I believe. I also have dune porting. I've ran Sunoco Supreme (Motor Octane - 109, (R+M)/2 - 112) at Glamis, and VP C12 ( Motor Octane 108) in Johnson Valley (about 3500' elevation). What is the lowest octane people have ran at Glamis and at 3500' in elevation with a similar set up as mine with no issues? Also has anyone ran F&L SP-1 fuel at Glamis with no problems?
  9. If those Elka shocks are not valved/set up for your riding style and weight they may not be good for you. Even at half price. When people buy NEW shocks the manufacturer will build them for your weight and riding style to maximize the performance of the shocks. Check the serial numbers on the shocks and call the manufacturer to make sure you know what they are set up for (rider weight, riding style, etc.).

  11. Finally installed the new Roll Design +2 Long Travel A-arms and Elka stage 2+R Long Travel shocks. Here are some before and after pictures. Just took the Shee out for a test run yesterday and these shocks and A-Arms are awesome! This new front end is a night and day difference from my stock set up.
  12. Per my conversation with Elka Suspension regarding desert vs. dune set up, they said dune set up shocks are softer than a desert set up shock. The dune set up shock would compress easier so that when your going over atv tracks on the sand you won't feel it as much as you would if you had the desert setup. In the opinion of the person from Elka I spoke with you're better off with a desert set up if you do both dune and desert. In your case you only ride desert.
  13. I'll let you know once I get them and install them. They're on order right now and I should have them within 2 1/2 weeks.
  14. I'd ask the seller for the serial number found towards the top of the reservoir. With the serial number Elka would be able to tell you the weight and type of riding they are valved for. They would also be able to tell you what size A-Arms they would fit on. I thought about buying a set of "Dune Edition" shocks on line about a month ago, but just decided to bite the bullet and go with a completely new setup that consists of Elka stage 2+R Long Travel front shocks and Roll Design Long Travel A-Arms (Desert, MX, Dune Edition) after speaking with Eric from Elka Shocks at the last Sand Sports Super Show in Costa Mesa, Ca. FYI-I do 50% desert and 50% dune riding.
