Did you check to see if your exhaust is plugged? Seems as if your problems are all over the place.

Use a measuring stick and cut a peice of cardboard in a "L" shape at the correct spec for your carb. << homemade tool Yes changing stuff with cable and caps can affect your idle if that and your idle screws weren't correct. BTW, What carbs? TORS or no? If stock and no, idle screws installed on carb body?
