^ on my first top end job and first banshee work ever, I thought the previous owner had Jimmy rigged something and I felt sick... then I realized the base gasket covers that area so it must be normal.seems weird there is a pocket in the case though...
Found blown base gasket that's where my high rpm or wot flutter came from and I had a plug wire get pulled out of the boot that why one side quit. Its cool though because tomorrow I'm dropping off my cyls and domes at cascade innovations for 4mil port and cut domes. Going 4mil long rod this summer ya budz! Shits gunna be awesome!
Left side is 4 mil drag ported 421cub, vf3, with shearers. right side is factory stock (Had to make a custom crank). also using itp hole shot on left and kenda claw on right. Shit works awesome!
Right now one cylinder is set up for no power (actually inertial loss of power) and one is set up for mid to high . Just going to bore the cylinders and get new pistons and cut an inch off the plug wires Problem solver! Not going to buy a new crank this time
On a side note I could literally wiggle the positions while in the cyls. That's pretty far gone right? Planning on boring and getting new pistons anyways
It was making compression but it wouldn't burp out the tail pipe with throttle open while kicking over. Maybe a plug wire came loose would that cause high rpm flutter because that was my first problem then this.
Well I pulled the jugs pistons and cylinders looked fine. Im thinking ignition system problem now.Is carbon build up on the top/center on the pistons normal?
29l crank? Is that stock? Also a lil wiggle side to side OK in bearing on bottom of rod? Would like to do a 4mil a lot of people seem to recommend long rod but say I'll get more power with short rod. Would my stock ported cyls work with a 4mil or can it be ported again to work best with 4mil or would it be too late? Thanks for the help!
Stock stroke? Need to figure out what I need to buy. Going to have my stock cyls bored they are ported all ready.should I buy a new crank this one seems fine. I found one thread I think it might be a 4mil l/r but I'm not sure. If I buy a new crank I will need to get the same set up but a better brand
Also it would feel like my chain was skipping teeth on hill shots or heave accel but it really shouldn't be its tight and sprockets are good also good chain guides and rollers good
Went to the dunes this weekend i started getting high rpm or wot fluttering in the high rpms so i started heading back to camp. So I'm fly in along in 6th gear. all the sudden I feel one side loose all power like the spark plug fell off. I didn't feel or hear anything weird like broken piston. I pulled in the clutch right away to prevent further damage it wanted to keep running on one cyl so I hit the kill switch. Waited for it to cool and checked out everything on the outside of the motor it looked fine so I tried to kick it over. Feels like I'm getting zero compression on the left side wouldn't even burp out that pipe with the throttle open during kick start. Anybody know this symptoms? I'm thinking blown out rings or crank came apart.
