  1. you just contradicted yourself, I think. sometimes a drag port revs very fast making it seem like the power is very short and pipey. how broad the power band needs to be also has to do with your weight and what/where youre racing. a 300 ft flat drag setup with a light weight rider can get away with more duration and such than someone like loco who is racing uphill on a full weight bike. like always it all comes back to overall setup and intended use.
  2. you have head design, port shape, port angle, port volume, squish and all the other details a builder can customize. a complete setup from a builder will gain as a package and produce more power but if your only gona swap to race gas and raise compression/ timing and not totally redo the engine for the specific fuel then gains can be very noticeable from timing and compression.
  3. I used to think purging would be a big pain also but like sprinklerman said it can be done in 5 minutes easily. alky is cheap but you basically burn twice as much. even figuring in how much extra you burn its way cheaper than other race fuels. the power gains are awesome and the bike will run great even if the tune isn't perfect.
  4. as a example of what sty is telling you. my local track only allows atvs on Friday night test and tunes. you must have full leathers, boots, helmet and a chain guard.
  5. its not that we don't care or are closed minded, that being said most of what your posting has nothing to do with a banshee engine. there are physical limits to what can be done with the stock banshee layout. custom billet cases, custom built cylinders etc aren't cheap. the money, support, and demand simply isn't there for anyone to completely redo a 80's model design that works fairly well with some aftermarket parts. if you have a few million to waste hit up one of the builders and show us how stupid we are.
  6. the pipes being out like that doesn't bother you while riding, I imagine wackos bike has a custom radiator and other things moved to make room. I helped on rushed together one and its no where near as easy as some think.
  7. well guys there is gona be a sand drag at sundog trails which is a short drive from me on the 26th so I wont make it.
  8. just build the 421 cub. great power right out of the box and anything you mess up is easily replaced on it. crank, pistons, domes, basically any of it is readily available.
  9. I wasn't accusing anyone of saying or implying it. a lot is lost in internet conversation because we cannot show emotions/expressions very well. I just didn't want some one thinking he is on a stock frame with stock a arms and 10 inch swingarm trying to figure out why it drives like shit. im very interested and posting in his thread because I want to see what the guys who have been there and done that(much like yourself) have to say about it and what they would try.
  10. the bike jayhawkatv/kyle is talking about was at the hq ride. it was purple and chrome with the joker on the side. it has 3'' forward titanium suspension on the front and the front is stretched 6''. not a jankity or half assed setup at all.
  11. I believe its a stock chassis that's been stretched 4 or 6 inches forward. post some pics of it sitting on a level surface kyle.
  12. could we meet up at ls next weekend kyle?
  13. i wouldnt run it, especially not in a drag situation where every few hp count. when the psiton comes down it has to fill the extra crankcase volume before it forces the charge up the transfers which is goin to slow the air/fuel charge down. in 200ft id think youll need all the power you can get.
  14. You play with timing any on the dyno? +7 is "usually" race gas territory, alky can "usually" handle a few more degrees. in case anyone was wondering by sc in the title he means stock cylinder not super cub.
  15. Gearing and what gear you leave in. Kyle if its overly rich or not enough timing it will bog untill it gets movin.
  16. Cams dyno reads within 1 to 2 hp of sandtrax in tulsa oklahoma, sprinklerman and maybe someone else ,if they wana speak up, can post some proof. I am not a redline customer, yet.
