  1. I did a compression check today without blocking off the exhaust and holding the throttle wide open. LH side 60 psi. RH side 100 psi. No good! Looks like I'm pulling the motor out anyway for new pistons rings and rebore.
  2. I can see do those mods over the winter for the next summers ride. As for now its on a budget. I haven't done a compression check yet. I've been very busy with work and family and haven't go much time to work on it. I want to use it this coming weekend and a June trip. Wisconsin is between 500-900 feet above sea level. Does this mean I can run a slightly higher compression then someone in higher altitude?
  3. Couple of questions. What is the smallest cc you can run with the use of 93 octane fuel? What can the stock head be milled down to? I've been reading and its seems that its not wise to go over .030. What does a Noss head run? I'm not a rich boy and have a family so I have to be careful on what I spend. I have two weekend atv trips coming up and I have to have enough $ for those too.
  4. Answer: Because I don't have unlimited funds unlike the guy who owns that drag bike.
  5. What would be a better pipe to have with mild port job and milled head? The FMF is larger in diameter so its better for top end and mods. The Turners a smaller and have more low end? Any comments?
  6. I'm wondering if its feasible to have my paul turners repaired and rechromed versus just bying a different set. One front pipe has a dent in it.
  7. This is my first banshee. I picked up this machine for $900. It runs but it has a number of issues. The paul turners on it are in poor condition. There is good size dent on the RH one and they are bent up and don't fit properly. Is there someone that can repair them and re chrome them? Or is it easier to bolt a different set on . I found a complete fmf set for $200 shipped that are in much better shape then what I have. How do the turners compare to the fmf's as far as performance?
  8. Are they stainless or galvanized so they don't rust?
  9. I did. I ordered the pump gasket, pump seal and two coolant line o rings
  10. Thanks for the assist. I will call that number on Monday. I ordered new gaskets and seals for the waterpump from the dealer for now.
  11. I know! lol. I have two atv trips coming up. This memorial day weekend, but thats for the whole family which is going to be a very slow paced one. My 7 year old son likes to put at 5mph. So the shee won't be a good machine to take. However I have a all guys trip on June 14th that I would like to take it with for. There's going to be another shee there. A 250R Honda atc. Possibly a raptor 660, a yfz 450. So yeah I want to be able to compete.
  12. Have a link handy for the billet impeller and bearing?
  13. I'm tempted to pull the motor and replace all the gaskets and reseal the cases. Port my cylinders while I'm at it.
  14. So day three owning my first banshee. I pulled the drain plug and dropped the oil and its creamy white colored. So its either a jug gasket or a jug right? After its all fixed the $900 purchase price is going to be small compared to the fixes.
  15. Stellers are more then half the cost of the machine I just bought. I paid $900 for the machine and now I just pulled the drain plug and the oil is creamy. So either there is a gasket problem or its a jug, hope its not the jug. Stellers are the last thing on my mind, sorry
  16. I have a loose ball joint on my LF upper J arm. I found someone who has a D arm that is custom made. Anyone ever hear of such a thing? It has to come close to the front spring. I'm a bit leary of them seeing is that they are home made. What are my options other then stock or steller?
  17. I found a guy with custom D upper arms. Are these any good? I have concerns of the arm getting to close to the spring. He wants $150 for the pair.
  18. So what are my options. There is a set of used ones on ebay for almost $200 and they are used so who knows how long the ball joints will last. Or Steller aftermarket arms at over $500 if you want them powder coated. Are there any other options??
  19. Is there an aftermarket piece available that I can bolt up to the case that will fix this issue? Is a case saver the same thing?
  20. I just bought my first banshee. Its an 87 and it has a loose upper ball joint. I'm in need of something. Hit me up with what you got. I dont have unlimited funds to fix this thing up, so cheaper is better.
  21. Its real easy to do the proper hardware. I have a wholesale acct so its just click and email and I have all new oem hardware for it. I have to order the tors eliminator yet. I'm low on funds, did much spending getting ready for the summer fun. I bought a 8x6 pop up camper and a 20' trailer and made me a redneck toy hauler. I have around 2k in it and it works great it has 3 full size beds in it and takes 20 min to set up. No more 3 hour set up with a tent. Is there an aftermarket j arm available? Only stock ones on ebay. One ball joint is loose so I assume that the whole arm needs to be replaced.
  22. I said to check the vin when I ran it on that website. http://www.motoverse.com/tools/vin/yamaha.asp It spit back either way I ran it with the c or the zero as the seventh digit and it still kicked it back with no record. There is also no wis dnr record. Was this thing on private land its whole life? Never registered? How do I check the engine code to the frame?
