  1. Here are some pics of my port job http://s1060.photobucket.com/albums/t460/turbowrenchhead/
  2. I think I may go for it for the banshee. Its gotta help with the initial tunning.
  3. Update. I took the advise of the members of the board and I'm going to do a complete rebuild and take my time with it. After much thought I decided that my options for control arms are much greater then having a J arm frame so I'm in process of obtaining one. I had my crank true and welded. I ordered billet water pump gear and impeller, pancake bearing for the clutch. I had to replace my main drive shaft. The crank is getting a new bearing soon. I have the cylinders ported waiting on bore. Gotta build up enough funds for the noss head. I have the tors eliminator kit for the stock carbs and I might get a 2-1 intake and try each setup and see how they are and sell the one I don't like. Going to get a bigger radiator, +6 swing arm, +2+1 arms or a widening kit, yfz 450 shocks in front, not sure about the rear if I will upgrade, havent seen much info on the rear shock yet. I plan on getting the clarke 5.5 gallon tank and keeping the stock white plastics. This should be a nice trail/hill climb machine after its done. I don't want to worry about it overheating and being able to take a large jump once in a while. I hope to have it done for next year.
  4. I have already seen enough feedback that I'm not going to try to port the piston.
  5. There is plenty of free knowledge out there. I watched several video's using the KOR templates. I copied as much as possible. I had a pro port my blaster cylinder and I also have that as a reference too. If it works great. If it doesn't then I will buy a set of pro ported cylinders.
  6. For me having to re-jet on the trail and have all my buddies wait for me is a real pain. I have had to do it plenty with my blaster. Temperature, humidity and octane changes all come into play. So when I seen that there is a single carb setup for the banshee I thought this would be a great way to cut down on the jetting time. I also have heard that it can greatly improve low end torque. My question is what size carb would you go with if your making around 60 hp? I would think that the 34-35 would be to small. I'm running a 35 pwk on my 68mm, 160 psi, 35 hp blaster. Wouldn't a 40mm be more appropriate for a modded banshee?
  7. I'm not claiming to know anything. But I have been a mechanic for a long time. I have done several ports jobs on auto's. I'm sure what I did is going to greatly effect flow. I opened up the port windows and smoothed everything out. I opened up the exhuast port to the sides. I added boysen ports and then I reshaped the bottom of the transfer ports. I look at it like water flowing. The easier the flow more power you will make. If you guys want to go on and rant and rave about how I'm doing my own port job, go for it! Won't bother me any.
  8. Are you going to post some pics? I'm interested in what all can be removed.
  9. I see good frames from $50 to $100 on search tempest but they are just to far away to go get. If you are patient enough good deals will come along. I am in no rush to build this shee. So I will pass on your $300 frame that is a 12 hour round trip drive to acquire. Unlike the ppl with the shee's that are all chrome. I don't have unlimited funds to spend. Bills and Family come first. So forgive me for being frugal.
  10. Sounds like I'm gonna leave them alone. I have done a ton or porting on the cylinders. I spent 6-7 hours on them. They look nice now. They are ready for a bore and hone and some new slugs. I just might have the engine running this year yet.
  11. Since you can port your cylinders larger. Can you do the same with the piston?
  12. In theory it looks like it would work great and eliminate have to re jet for weather conditions. I find that I'm re jetting often with temperature and humidity and octane changes. It only takes me 5 min to do it on my blaster but everyone has to wait for me. What do you guys think?? http://thunderproducts.com/IntelaJet.htm
  13. How much for just the frame? Please post pics
  14. There are no affordable options for the J arms. You have to drop over $500 on a good set of control arms. Plus I think you get more ground clearance with a widening kit and stock arms. The don't make them for the J arms. I have a Diamond J kit on my blaster and it works great. There are always good deals on decent +2+1 arms on ebay too. So does anyone near Milwaukee Wis have a decent A arm frame for purchase or trade or whatever.
  15. I sent it to Kevin, he's already called me and its getting shipped back out already. Great customer service.
  16. i have read and personally seen on a older 92 shee that they overheat when they are ridden hard. Older bikes with older radiators do not cool as well as newer ones. If it needs to be replaced then one might as well replace it with an over sized unit. Since mine is an 87 with a stock unit. I'm going to replace the radiator and also putting in a billet impeller and billet water pump gear. The plastic stuff just doesn't look like it would hold up in a melt down.
  17. For $100 you can get a quality american made radiator from herrjugsracing.com
  18. I did a little search and looking through the radiator ads on ebay. It looks like they are all coming from China. I don't want a Chinese pos. Are there any quality over sized radiators on ebay? Or do I have to go straight to a vendor?
