Did you ever run 87 octane on that?
-
The engine builder that I talked to preferred the blocked psi rating. So that what I was familiar with when I built the blaster.
-
So I had 130psi unblocked exhaust and 180 blocked w 20cc domes. I have talked with an engine builder and he said you don't want to go much past 160psi blocked which equates to 120 unblocked. 22cc domes get me 165 psi blocked. Haven't run a unblocked reading yet. I run 160 psi in my blaster and I have been able to run down to 87 non reformulated fuel with no problems.

I got some time tonight to work on the bike. I bought a couple of universal freeze plug to block off the exhaust. They work great BTW. Installed the leak tester and it wouldn't hold anything. I found several leaks by the bolts holes on the manifold. Some of the slotting that it takes to get it to fit goes past the gasket surface. So for now I took it all apart and coating everything with Yamabond. I put my heater on it for an hour and re tested. Got to 4 psi and it pissed. I'm gonna let it sit overnight and re test tomorrow. Anyone know of a larger gasket that will fix this problem if the silicone doesn't hold? I also did a compression test with the blocked exhaust. I got 180psi on both. 130 unblocked exhaust. That is a little high for my tastes. My blaster runs 120/160 compression and I have had no detonation problems even when run 87 non reformulated fuel thats only available in some areas. I swapped out the 20cc's for the 22's. Now I get 165psi blocked exhaust. I will probably be around 120-125 unblocked. I will do a unblocked check after the exhaust plugs are out. One more strange thing. The left hand plug was clean as a whistle. However they was smoke coming out of both pipes when I had it running for a couple mins. I checked for spark on the wire and they were good. Hoping it has something to do with the massive air leak.

Aftermarket coolant hoses
turbowrenchhead replied to turbowrenchhead's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
It looks like they are the same product, just that they might ship them from within the usa -
Are these hoses any good? Also how are the in line coolant heat exchangers? Are they worth installing? http://www.ebay.com/itm/350600765804?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Handle bar gas tank, anyone try it?

Can you show us some pics of it? -
I got my clutch case bolt holes helicoiled and replaced my kick gear spring. Old one was worn out. I cured my coolant leak coming from the head nuts. I pulled the needle and popped in the EEG on the second clip. It still has a run away rpm after you crack the throttle a little harder. The idle is funky too. I tried to get it to idle but it keeps going from a low idle to a higher idle back and forth every 5 seconds or so. Playing with the air screw and idle screw didn't really do anything. I need to do a leak down test next when I have time. I ran out of time for today. Remind me again how to determine the pilot size. I had to go 3 1/2 turns out before I noticed an idle change. I have a 60 pilot in there. So do I need to up or down, I forget.

I'm surprised that no one has said Super M. The guy who built my blaster motor swears by the stuff. And its a little cheaper then the other oils mentioned. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Maxima-64-oz-Super-M-2-Cycle-Oil-/390474337332?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5aea158c34&vxp=mtr

I think between a 4.0 gallon tank and a six pack rack tank that I will be fine between gas stations. -

I've searched for several hours on camp sites, where is the best place to ride. What to stay away from. IE: Trailfest. Too much traffic, trails get beat, to many cops and dnr. There are not a ton of choices for campgrounds in southern WV. Does anyone know of a good place to camp from personal experience? We like to party a little after the sun goes down so looking for a place that tolerates our kind. Plus you can't ride past dark, (gay!)

Does anyone run more the 50:1? I run 64:1 on my blaster for a couple of seasons now with good results. Just had the jug off last fall and all looks good.

Its low on the list of things to buy for the banshee. I might just spring for the IMS 4.0 gallon tank and pop a six pack rack can in the back. I won't have to worry about running out then. -
There are so many choices out there its overwhelming. I heard that guys like Klotz because it smells different. Some guys like Amzoil. What are ppl's favorite?
-
It wasn't that bad to dial in my 35 pwk on my blaster. Sounds like I will stick with them.

A buddy of mine put the Clarke 5.5 on his. He lost 50% of his turning radius. He had to put a 6" handlebar riser to get his stock radius back. It looks horrible on the banshee. The IMS 4.0 gallon looks alright. I just found that one tonight. The last IMS I seen was only available in a clear material. The .6 gallon handlebar tank empties as you create a vacuum in your stock tank. Just plug your vent hose into the tank. I would want to work like a reserve instead of using it up after fill up. -
Original chain is long gone. I have no reference to work from. Can someone get me close to the number of links I need. I probably going to run a 15 front and 40 rear sprocket
