  1. My squish is more then .050. I only have some .050 gauge solder right now. I'll get some bigger gauge soon and check it again. Sorry for the 3 similar questions. I like to get input from as many people I can. I have a ride coming up soon and I want to have my bike ready, so apologies.
  2. I'm making 160psi and I'm shooting for 150~155psi. I have 20's right now. What dome size should I order?
  3. How much does a 1cc change in dome size change your psi rating?
  4. I replaced the paper base gaskets with OEM base gaskets and I get 160 psi now. Only a 10psi drop. It has to be the pistons that are the variable. They are the same brand name but the there were differences in the construction of them.
  5. I replaced the paper base gaskets with OEM today. Now I have 160psi on both cylinders. It must be the pistons that are causing the rise in cranking compression. I bought the same brand name but they were a bit different in construction. Now I'm thinking I need 21cc domes to bring the compression down under 155psi.
  6. I'm going to order a set of 19cc's and try those. The bike made 58HP on the dyno with 130psi.
  7. Now meaning the normal 130psi I have when running OEM base gaskets.
  8. My elevation is around 800'. Don't know what my porting numbers are. I enlarged the intake and exhaust. I opened up the exhaust on the side. Didn't mess with the top or bottom of the port and didn't mess with the transfer ports either. I went with a paper base gasket and my compression shot up to 170psi. Too much for pump gas. I would think 150-155psi would be the max on 93 octane. I ordered a set of OEM base gaskets and now waiting on them. I would like to get higher compression then what I have now.
  9. Do you think I will have to go to a larger jet with just a compression change?
  10. I have 20cc domes now and I'm getting 130psi on my tester. If I go to 19cc's domes what can I expect for an increase? When you increase compression does it make your mixture leaner because of more pull on the carbs?
  11. I have original 1987 white front and rear fenders. I'm looking to trade my set for a black set. I'll throw in cash if its a good deal. The front fender is in perfect condition. The rear fender is melted just bit under the seat from a past exhaust leak. It is not visible when the seat is on. The rest of the bike is black and red so I want a nice black set to compliment the color scheme. Contact me either through here or email "turbowrenchhead@yahoo.com" or text/call 414-418-8550
  12. I thought of that but I used the same compression tester on the original build. I will need get some spark plug washers and make some measurements to get an accurate reading. I'm also going to have mine checked against a snap on to see if its accurate.
  13. Dome volume is 20cc, haven't checked the squish. However 170psi is way to much for pump gas
  14. I understand that running a thinner base will bring your piston closer to your dome therefore increases compression. I didn't realize that it could change that much. This test was done after a set of fresh cast piston just after re assembly with a little 2 stroke oil dropped down through the plug hole.
  15. When I had OEM base gaskets in my compression was 130psi. I was looking to go up a little more to 140psi or less. I tried a thin paper style gasket with yamahabond on both sides. Ran a compression check. Got 170psi. Way to much. I'd have to run race fuel then.
  16. I don't run my machine in the winter. I drain it at the end of the season. The cold is too hard on these bikes, not worth the risk.
  17. Rockhouse was the most difficult of the 7 systems. Just the trails leading off the twin hollow campground were rated easy but two machines went off the cliff in the 5 days we were there on those trails. Rockhouse easy trails were like the black trails on the other systems. Your best ride is to hire a local rider to show you the outlaw trails.
  18. There is no night life in Gilbert! You can't even buy booze on Sunday. I would stay in Logan if your looking for night life.
  19. Your best bet is the outlaw trails then. The sanctioned trails are rough, narrow and have cliff right next to them. I would try to find a local to show you the trails. The one outlaw that we found in Gilbert was off of right fork bend road. It was a nice wide smooth road that went on for miles
  20. I did some research and ppl complained about a black sludge that water wetter left behind. But this was with a 50/50 mix of coolant and water. I think running distilled water and the water wetter would be better. They also have a diesel version of water wetter that doesn't have the silicates in it.
  21. I'm running just straight water in my coolant for better cooling. I've seen water wetter on the market but never tried it. I looked up some reviews on water wetter and they were bad. Does anyone use this or another alternative like ultra cool? Will water provide enough lubrication for the water pump seals?
  22. I heard the strip bars in Logan are a hoot. Twin hollow was right in Gilbert. Check that place out next time. Beautiful view.
  23. There is only one bad thing about Ashland. There are meth and crackheads just a few miles away. Ashland has had issues with theft. They patrol the grounds 24/7. They recommend locking your stuff up. We had a 6 pack rack gas can go missing when we were out to get something to eat. The twin hollow campground doesn't have theft issues. Much nicer area and family run. Ashland is employee run and they don't want to be there.
