  2. I have had T-5 pipes, CPI inframes and TR6 pipes and they were all a little different. The current Banshee had CPI inframes on it when I got it and I HATED it for duning. There was no low/mid grunt just a hard hit at the top end and a lot of noise compared to other pipes. So I decided I wanted either T-5s or TR6 pipes instead and decided to get the TR6 pipes since I already had T-5 pipes before on my previous Banshee and wanted to try something different At the time my Banshees were both running stock porting, +4 timing and 21cc domes with K&N filters. When I bolted on the TR-6 pipes it felt a lot like the old T5 pipes with a nice strong midrange pull through to the top. Overall I felt the TR-6 pipes were the best pipe I'd tried and really like the smooth power and good midrange. Plus I like the better construction of the TR-6 compared to the T5 pipes - namely the better mounting and better fit of the TR-6 pipes. Now that I have a ported bike I am kind of wishing I would have went with the T-5 pipes because I can feel that the TR6 pipes aren't revving out as high as the old T-5s did. I did some GPS speed tests and the TR6 PORTED Banshee is slower by 2 mph than the T-5 NON-PORTED Banshee was (but it gets up to speed a LOT faster). TR6=80 mph vs T-5=82 mph. Both had stock gearing. 2 mph on top end is not a big difference and I only mention that to illustrate about the TR6 pipes not revving as high as the old T-5s. Before I was ported I would run close to my friends Banshee give or take a bike length here and there. Now with porting and TR-6 pipes I am pulling 1 gear higher on every hill and beating him by several bike lengths so if the TR6 pipes are holding me back it's really not by all that much. With the porting I just have a lot more power everywhere from mid-range up and I don't feel as though the TR6 pipes are hurting me until I get up to the top RPM ranges. There's my report... FWIW.

  4. I did mine on a bench grinder - JUST THE LOBES - not the neutral back-cut because I don't have a mill as Boonman mentioned. If somebody wants to do this in a bench grinder you just need to be careful not to go too fast and keep the cut surfaces square then polish it when it's all done. Here's a couple of pics of mine:
  5. Holy Crap!!! I pay $74 per YEAR for full coverage on my 2002 Banshee in Wyoming. This is with Progressive.
  6. Hmmm..... The only thing I can think of is the routing of the cable after it "Y"s off. Maybe one has more slack in it than the other. I don't think the TORS has an adjustment screw (like on your clutch for example) to balance the 2 cables but I could be wrong. Check where the cable enters the TORS to see if there is a way to adjust that. If not, you are going to have to get creative to make both cables start pulling at the same time. Maybe shim up 1 cable at the TORS or at the "Y"???
  7. Boonman is right - replace the whole package. Don't use a cheap non-O-ring chain either - it will just stretch and become useless quickly. A new RK chain and front/rear sprockets will cost you less than $100 delivered.

  9. May to August... That's the PERFECT time to go to St. Anthony Dunes in Idaho. Biggest dunes you'll find in this country.

  11. Best bet would be to have somebody extend one for you. To custom fabricate the while thing from scratch will cost ya for sure.

  13. Another vote for CPIs. I have 2 Banshees - 1 has T5s and the other has CPIs. The CPIs definately seem to pull longer and harder. I'm now a believer in CPI.
  14. Details are: * 2000 banshee - Blue * 95% dune riding the rest is dirt forest roads. No mud, rocks or water riding. * Toomey T5 pipes - not chrome, painted black * K&N air filter with outerwear * Prodesign intake flange - much better than stock air filter mount * +4 degrees timing key. * Pro-Design cool head with 19cc domes - good for about 3000 feet altitude and above. See level lt 3000 feet altitude will require 21cc domes. * Pro-Design MegaImpeller water pump impeller - helps cooling significantly. * Full set of UPP Chain sliders and rollers. * TORS removed. * Ceet seat cover - matches banshee graphics perfectly. * Custom built temperature gauge (see pic). * Yamaha Crossbar pad * MSR Grip Levers * Fuel filter with blue hoses * Parking Brake Block-Off Plastic is in good shape but the blue plastic is known for getting white marks if bent and it has some very minor white stress marks. Some very minor scratches. Banshee is in very good condition for a 2000 model and it runs 100% perfect and starts very easily every time. I am the original owner Compression is about 130 PSI in each cylinder at 6200 feet with the 19cc domes. In other words, the top-end is very good. Rear axle bearings are fairly new - replaced earlier this year. This quad is in very good shape and is adult owned and very well taken care of. Garage kept. No rust on anything. I treated this Banshee exteemely well and it shows. People that know me and ride with me know this machine runs well and looks good and is not abused in any way whatsoever. Tires are stock Banshee tires with about 60% tread left. You may find cheaper banshees but not this well taken care of and in such good condition - You will not be disapointed with this machine!!!   15. Boonman - you never fail to amuse me with your clever and subtle humor. I think half the people miss your funniest stuff. Anyway, back to REAL numbers. Bone stock, 6800 ft altitude - 72 MPH Added K&N and reeds and tuned up better - 74 MPH Added Toomey T-5 pipes - 82 MPH Changed to a 15 tooth front sprocket - 84 MPH (wouldn't rev out though). Added cool heads with 19cc domes, +4 degree key - ??? Haven't checked. These are all made with a GPS and several runs each way on paved road and with stock tires and full fenders. So.... If somebody says their doing 90 with pipes they are lying.
