i dont see a problem with new guys using templates. gives them a chance to practice without totally screwing up something. but the problem is the template was probly intended for stock stroke and bore. with the added stroke its gonna throw a curve ball in the situation. if you dont have the knowledge to sort it out i would get some help before you start cutting

i never tried them templates but most likely they were designed to sit at the top cylinder deck and scribe your lines. but since your stroke is longer you cant simply put the template at the top deck. maybe they make a template for the added stroke. other wise your on your own with the degree wheel. maybe you could mark some timing heights from the wheel then use the template for the window shape

Cheetah porting pics
registered user replied to B.b.p builders's topic in General Banshee Discussion
from photobucket i think its the IMG code you copy and paste to here, perhaps in the image tab or maybe just directly to the post. mine freezes up when i click on the image tab but yours might work. somethin wrong with the site maybe its difficult to guess exact timings from a pic but certainly you can tell other things. example if theres a big radius on the exh window roof then you know the engine wouldnt be intended for max power. theres plenty of other stuff you can tell also -

Measuring and duplicating port angles
registered user replied to edgehanger's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
for hell sakes. you just need something to bend into the port chanell. doesnt matter much what it is, hell some solder could probly work. look around the garage and see if you have something that can bend and hold its shape. some of you guys really over complicate shit. then most any protractor type of imstrument will suffice for measuring the angle -
Measuring and duplicating port angles
registered user replied to edgehanger's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
pretty sure its something wrong with the site. quote wouldnt work. couldnt post links either. but anyways i just use a paperclip against cylinder wall and bend into the port then measure the angle with a protractor thing from the hardware store. -

piston ring end gap question
registered user replied to killer454's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
just a tip. measure the gap yourself also. never trust anyone. all the wisecos ive seen were on the large end of the spectrum which is fine with me because if the gap ever closes its game over -
plenty of automobiles well after 1980 were also using motor oil and gear oil in manual trannys. everyone has a preference that they think is better than everyone else but i think we can safely say atv trans will do just fine on most any type of fluid. energy conserving supposedly doesnt do well with the clutch plates but i have no direct experience with that . but i do have direct experience with EP gear oils and fiber clutch plates. aparently it causes isseues with the plates or so i was told but ive since proven that to be nonsense

50/125=.4 im not real familiar on the 250. i think they might of been 125 twin with cylinders 90* apart radially. seperate crankshafts coupled with gears. that seems to make more sense than a 250 single -

it wasnt a reference to any specific one engine. pretty sure honda and ktm also have engines close to .4 . infact i know ktm does and hondas version would be right there pretty close -
