A Few Custom XC Mods For The Banshee
fastforworddad replied to Thack82's topic in XC/Hare Scramble Forum
It would also hold a beer or two, ask me how I know!!! Sure would like to see some pics of that air scoop -
This is a first rate piece, looks great and function over form as well. Super fast shipping as well and went on and fit flawlessly. Very happy with it, thanks Jerry for great parts. Wayne

Do you still have that plastic water pump gear. Sounds like the flow has slowed down to almost nothing if it was boiling over in such a short amount of time. You said about 5 minutes, is that total time including warm up time? My bike probably takes about 5 minutes to get up to operating temp just idling.

If you can turn the tires in opposite directions and get a 1/4 inch of play, I would look at the nuts holding the axle hubs on for proper torque, make sure cotter key is in place. If the nuts are tight, I'm thinking that the splines on the axle and/or on the axle hubs are worn. As far as the axle bearings go, I would put rear of bike on a stand, check for axial and radial play. You might get lucky by putting a little more on the large nut closest to the sprocket, but not too tight where the axle will not spin smoothly. Really the best way to do this I found was too take the caliper off and take the chain off as well, this is how I did mine last week, but all my parts were fairly new so I went threw the extra trouble of removing brakes and chain, you might find that the nut has just worked it's way loose and a simple 1/2-1 turn on inside nut might suffice. I put a little locktite and inside nut and tighten outside jam nut tight against inside nut. Hope this helps.

Welcome to the site, there is a wealth of information here. As far as the tors, yes it is junk as well as the parking break and should be eliminated. The twist throttle however should be considered very carefully. There have been many who swear by them as an improvement and others that would swear they tried to kill them. If you have never had a twist throttle on a quad, I'm not sure you want to start your twist throttle experience on a Banshee. Good luck. Wayne

I kinda thought the regulator/rectifier's job in addition to turning ac into dc was to control charging of the battery depending on demand, correct me if I am wrong. -
Is your friend in Bahrain, would be alot faster regarding shipping coming from there as opposed to the states.

Does this hold true for the dc system with floated ground and battery? -

Thanks for the info. I got in contact with Evan and I just have a couple of questions for him about my particular setup and what to expect. Wayne -
Are you able to find aftermarket parts for your banshee in Bahrain? Or do you order them from the states and wait, and wait, and wait... I'll be looking for your call on Monday. Are you coming in in morning or later in the day?
-
Dude, you will have to give me a call for sure. My mobile is 3371 8158 (974) is country code I think. How long do you think you will be in town?

Anything come from this? Testing results? -
^^^^+1 and also ditch that boost bottle as pointed out above, nothing but problems. Pod filters will help out also, but must rejet to insure reliability and engine longevity. Are you still in Bahrain? I am currently in Qatar. Wayne

Trying to reach sheerider1026

pm sent. Wayne -
I have to agree with Banshee SE. You are very young and still alot of living to do. There will be time for another, if it is in the cards it will happen. I wanted one of these since 1988 when I was 26 and had to settle for a TRX250EX instead. I am building my first one and can relate to the amount of money it takes to do one of these the right way. I have only had mine for 7 months, I can only imagine the total "investment" after 5 years. I get the whole mentally foggy thing as well, kinda numb. Once you make a plan and start on a positive path, you will feel much better. At 22 years old, it seems that your head is screwed on right with concerns about your future, and trying to move towards goals, one being trying to stay out of debt. Something alot of 22 year olds don't seem to care about, myself included when I was in my 20's. I wish you luck in your decision and in attaining your goals, and commend you on your mature attitude. Trying to reach sheerider1026

I pm'd him a while back and got a next day response. Then again and nothing back. Figured job may have taken him "out of pocket" sort of speak. Wayne -
Been trying to reach sheerider1026 for probably over a month via pm's. Don't know how often he checks the site, but anywho, if anyone knows him, maybe they can get a message to him to get with me regarding the purchase of one of his rewound stators. From what I have read, he is the man when it comes to the banshee stators. Thanks BHQ. Wayne

I would if I could, but my stock stuff is in storage until we repatriate back to the states from Qatar. I was just going to order a radiator cover online and have it shipped to me but would like to know for sure the OEM rad cover will work with the maier plastic- tank cover. The radiator cover in blue is around 60.00 with the grill and the tank cover is around 38.00. I was hoping to see someone with a banshee that had the OEM radiator cover where I ride that would let me try it on for fitment. Thanks guys Wayne -

I have all the maeir pieces and need to know if the stock radiator cover will work with maier tank cover, only want to use the radiator cover, I'm hoping it will work with minimal modding. Let me know what you think and thanks. Wayne -
Got maier plastics, full set in carbon fiber white. The grill in radiator cover is shit. Want to know if any has tried using OEM radiator cover with Maier plastics, the front fenders and the tank covers. Searched and dug up some old threads, but didn't find a concrete answer one way or the other. Wayne

banshee overheating, fan install...
fastforworddad replied to Thom6069's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Since you are planning on floating the ground on the stator, you will need to get a regulator/rectifier, you can get them from Trailtech. You can got a fan controller from Summit racing, it is adjustable when it comes on and shuts off also with an override so you can turn in on at anytime you want. Overall the dc conversion is not very daunting at all, and you can get the battery box from JD's Customs, he made mine for me.
