i would use gas or mixed gas imo instead of diesel, i mean thats what is in there normally and wouldnt dry out the bearings. even if you split the cases it would still be hard to make sure you got it all outta the bearings, id flush it probably 10 times if it were me. i wouldnt rotate the crank the first few times just try to shake that heavy bassterd around and dump it, then rotate it and dump. also after you feel like your done rotate the crank to see if you can feel any "grindage" lol and if you still have the other jug on id leave it on for the douching would be easier to rotate the crank without worrying anout the other rod floppin around
