http://www.jlengineering.org/index.html JL I a site sponsor and has good recommendations. Hope that helps

Clean the carbs. Do both carbs. Check the float levels and you will be good. Contact a site sponsor for a clutch kit, install those. I would check the water pump if you are doing the clutch. Reason being do peace of mind and to check for damage/wear. I you have more question let us know. There are a lot of tech savy folks here

I sand blasted mine, then took them to a powder coated and had them do a ceramic coating in white. It looked great, the high temp coatings didn't flake or chip. I have punted T5's now. When I do my rebuild I am going to ceramic coat these aswell. I don't like the chrome look unless everything is bling bling. My Harley has a bunch of chrome and I hate polishing Adam

When driving an 18 wheeler in the winter we have to put the canvas over the radiator to get heat in the truck. If you want to build temp you could cover the radiator with something semi-permeable. This will restrict air-flow through the radiator. In turn this will reduce the cooling efficiency of te radiator heating the motor up more. Adam

Lol, yes 520, Sorry didnt preread the post, I must have fatfingered the 4 on my phone. Good catch and thank you.

You can buy a 420 half link for the chain and that will solve the tightness issue until you purchase a new chain. They are easy to install, installs with the repair link. Adam

I didn't know Yamabond was not available anymore. Then it's back to Permatex Aviation sealer. If its good enough for FAA regulations then I see no problems for a banshee. Yamabond 4 is based on aviation sealer anyways. Sorry to side track the tread. I just hate Permatex. Gas eats it. It's messy and does not have a "clean" look. Adam

I would split the Cases and remove all of the old pieces and parts. If there is a piece of metal in there it will destroy the motor. BigRed350x put together a great Walkthrough on case splitting and rebuilding. I recommend it! Switch out the Permatex for Yamabond though. It is a better product. You also can check out your crank bearings, and redo your crank seals for piece of mind. Adam

I would look into cleaning everything. if you are going to install a 4mil Crank I would want to go through the motor. They engines are very basic. Clean everything before you take it apart. I like the car wash. Tape the intakes, exhaust, wrap in plastic and hose away. Starting clean is a lot easier than starting dirty. You would hate to drop a piece of dirt in your cases as you are putting them back together. I would stay away from Permatex I like to use Yamabond because it is designed for applications such as putting the cases together. This is my opinion and I have not had issues with rebuilds and my case splitting experiences. Adam

Overheating/Mod questions/First post
ticktock replied to Jonny72888's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Overheating: This is an issue. Make sure that the jetting is correct by doing a Plug Chop. If the jetting is correct look at some of the simple things that could restrict air flow such as a plugged radiator. Put some light behind the rad and see if it full of bugs, flies, dead stuff. If this checks out then you might want to look at getting Engine Ice. There are many types of different ones on the market but as long as it is not an additive then you should see results. I run it in my engines and they do run cooler. They also cool off faster. I would say that they run 10 - 20 degrees cooler than standard Glycol Antifreeze. Intake: If you are interested in removing the Air box then I would go with pod filters such as Uni Filters, Stock Airbox Filters, or K&N Universal Filters. K&N Filters can be purchased from Site Sponsors for great prices. If you call they will even help with the application and size for a direct bolt on to your Carbs. If you do this also get a cover for the filter or use oiled nylons, they work but i would spend the extra money and get the filter covers. Wire: That wire is for the TORS system. It should either go to the Throttle box or the Neutral Clutch switch. Its junk! Look at getting a TORS removal kit if your Banshee still has. Skid Plate: Nice job on the Fab of that Skid plate. if it works use it, why spend the money on something you really dont need. If you are looking to protect the linkage, just add some more metal to that one. A-Arms: Those are stock, cannot replace the ball joints : ( Stock ones from members on the site are cheaper though. Good luck and nice looking Shee. Adam -
One of the first times I ever rode a three wheeler I ran into a fence. I was 9 : ) Crashed my brothers 200S into a fence down in the pasture! It wouldnt have been so bad, but I had to go get help to get it out. He gave me all kinds of shit for that. lol Adam

Man that looks wicked. I was thinking about cutting at the standard flat spot but I think that I am going to do it this way. I hate to be such a copycat : ) Adam

Silencer hanger Silencer Side View Expansion Chamber Hanger Not sure if this helps. I can take pictures of anything else you might need. I just checked, my silencers are even in the rear and my rear hangers are dogboned so its possible if you loosen up your front hangers and do some adjustments they will both line up even. Adam

So Honda tires are the best? Actually joking aside they are good. They are the original stock tires for the TRX 250r. Honda has been using them since 1986. We all know Honda did things right with the 250R. Realtors, Blackwaters, Mudsharks were all great tires for hooking up in loose dirt, Gravel pits, roads, and generally anyplace. Its too bad they nixed them all. Adam

I will take some pictures of mine and then you can see how they compare. Will post them shortly. Adam

My pipes are even. I have T-5's. The only thing that I could think of is if your brackets are somehow off. Most things are mass produced and variations to occur. Seems to me that if your front hangers were in different positions the silencer hangers would not line up. I guess maybe you could try fitting everything loose, then tightening everything up when they are where you want them. Or.. Were you talking about the pipes coming out of the silencers? IE the tips? Adam

Loctite is amazing. It is a Harley owners best friend as every bolt will vibrate loose without it! I personally do Blue on everything outside the motor and inside the motor I use red. Loctite will also help seal all the threads so the bolts will not rust in blind holes. Adam
-
Here is a short article, it effects performance. Prolonged running will effect the overall life of the motor, but it is not going to handgrenade it quickly. Its good that you caught it in time. Drag pipes without silencers are designed differently. Adam
