They do make a thing call Torque Multiplier. You will never tighten the bolts, nuts, studs on an AMD, or ALCO without one Sheerider. Depending on what type of mechanics she will be doing, she may not even be lifting anything. Again, on those two motors you are not going to pick anything up without a crane. Just sayin' Adam

Troy, I have toys to ride don't worry! I pulled the motor last night. I have a stripped cylinder stud I'm waiting on a EZ LOK which should be in the mail today. Going to drill it out, rethread then put it back together. I'm waiting on a clutch basket. Hopefully get that Friday/Saturday. I should get the 450r motor Friday too lol. Project 1&2 should be done this weekend then it's time to put the 250r together. I really have way too many toys ATM. I need to repack my storage unit and get everything on the trailer so I can clean my garage. Trying to build 3 bikes at once is fun lol Adam

Hey all, So here is my Banshee story. It upsets me some days, but it is what it is. In 2006 I bought my second banshee. Another J-Arm. Something about a J-arm is classic to me. When I first got this banshee it did not run correctly, I prolly overpaid, 1900 in 06 while they were still making new. First was to replace the boot on the 2-1 kit, changed needles, re-jetted all up and down the scale from 30's - 75 pilot and nothing would make this machine run like it should. I changed Needles and finally gave up. It had great top-end but bogged to 1/2. Well between trips to Iraq I pulled it all apart, cleaned everything, installed new seals, reassembled the base and deployed. Now, I came back 4 months later and never could be home more than 2 weeks at a time. in 2011 I got sick of looking at the damn thing and I started putting it back together. I checked the cylinders, purchased new pistons and put it all back together. Now, it still didn't run right! It was better but not correct. I replaced the reeds with vforce3, changed out the carb and things are closer. Riding the other week the machine just wouldn't shift. I had to replace the shifter as it was worn out, the essentric screw was also grooved bad and there was not adjustment left. Needless to say I had to get a new shaft, chose the modded from FAST and new parts to assemble the transmission. A screw broke off and that caused me to drill baby drill. I had to grind out one of the M4 screws behind the clutch basket, and then use a ReCoil kit to fix (same as a Helicoil), I also upsized the bolts to M5's and changed them to Allen heads. Last weekend I reassembled the motor and started it today. Low and behold it fires up, and I have this great NEW noise from the clutch area. So I drain everything, see metal flake in the oil, maybe I couldn't catch all the metal flying around as I ground the bolt out with a Dremel. I taped everything off good though. So I pull the clutch basket to check the screws I put in, nothing. I looked at all the gears, moving parts and whatever else was around - Nothing. Then I pick the clutch basket up and see that the cushions are all shot in the clutch basket - 1-800-jeff-@F.A.S.T.again. I think he puts others on hold just to deal with my crap. I never can seem to get ahead with this 22 year old piece of crap. I fix whats broke, plan on doing more, building a motor, something. Then it goes to hell in a hand basket because random needed maint. has to be done just to keep it going. The only thing that I can say, is I have a parts list and when something is broken I just cross it off the list! Well hope you guys cannot relate to this story and I hope that your Banshee's are much easier to upgrade and take care of, Adam

Take the cylinders off and do it on a bench. Get in s few good solid whacks with a rubber hammer and it should pop. It's just old gasket. As long as its a rubber hammer it shouldn't cause harm. Common sense. If you hurt the head I have a nearly new stocker! Lol Adam
-
Well I didnt know, I based off ebay and took 25% off! Im open to offers lol Adam

I have a like new fly wheel I have forsale for 75, but its prolly too steep let me know. Its still shiny new Adam

Oh, I had a pj38 and I could not dial it in. I switched to pwk35 EEK needle 60 pilot 185 main. I have T-5s, and bored 40 over. It runs strong with an intermittent bog. I think it's something single carbs live with. Troyzstang also has the same prob w/his. Could be normal.. Adam
-
Yes 2-1 normally takes te 35-38. It will give you the fuel and air you need for your motor. Of course jetting will be a concern. Start pilots around 60 and go up or down from there! Adam

I buy Patagonia products because it is a company where their products are made in USA. Also marmot and artryx clothing too. Sue me it's the best shit on the market for hot desert climate and spending 6 months a year in shit hole desert countries you need good quality clothing to keep from getting too much sun. Iraq, Afghanistan horn of Africa, heading to Bahrain for a year. You so me another clothing company that makes quality products made in USA I'll switch for you! Adam -
The cylinders, we're they grooved bad from the no oil damage? What do the cylinders mic out at? Are you testing compression WOT? Are the carbs cleaned? Even before the rings seat you should have more compression than that. Adam

Welcome to BHQ! While I have little input on this, I would like to say listen to the guys here. Many are very savy when it comes to things. I would suggest contacting a site sponsor for a cool heal and some of your questions. Jeff at Farm and Sand Toys (FAST) is great. He will talk your ear off on the phone to help you out. Give them a call and since he is close shipping will be very fast. If you ask me, and I am no expert, I would recommend not letting your top end "wear out" instead invest in a little port job from any site sponsor. Lots will swear by HJR, FAST and I think that there is another sponsor that folks will rave about. Basically anyone that is on BHQ as a sponsor is top notch and will help any way possible. Adam

I'm kinda over this conversation. Obviously you truly did not understand what I said about Patagonia. They are not chanting "Close public lands to OHV," they are more like saying, Listen fuckers, Register your shit, ride where your allowed, or pay fines, furthermore if you continue to get fined, your fines will go up until your OHV is in regulation. People in general when in mass numbers are fucking stupid. So 1 guy that rides though your field is prolly going to make 1 track, and stick to it. on the other hand, if 50 people ride though your field, they are going to rip it to shit, and not give a fuck about it. Does that make any sense? We also owned a dairy farm for 20 + years. We allowed people to ride on the land as long as they followed the rules my father set. We hardly had problems. Adam -
Ok, I guess I didn't think about the pistons traveling a longer route. I was thinking the ports are only going to allow fuel in the chamber while the piston is above the exhaust ports. Otherwise the bulk of the fuel would travel out the exhaust. I thought the piston was offset to cure that problem. In truth I guess I don't know about stroked motors but it seemed logical. I will have to research that more to understand how striking works exactually TEK engines are different and only spray while the piston is above the exhaust ports making it more efficient for fuel atomization in the chamber. You're an idiot. As I said in November 2011 patagonia is referenced is making a rider register their OHV. Fining fags for breaking the laws and making stiffer fines for repeat offenders. On no open spires article did they say we want public lands closed to OHV. So while you are speculating I am referencing sourced info. In 2001 parts of Imperial dunes were closed in Nevada because of these riders, you, us, me, doing whatever we want. General lawlessness. If riders can't handle themselves areas get closed. If you were a farmer and atvs ripped your fields, your crops would you let them ride there? But on the other hand would you care if there was one track on the side of your field where atvs rode and those riders opened and closed gates and didn't harass your livestock woul you ban all riders from your land? Adam Edit: I spoke about one company on that list. Not speaking for others as there is only 1 major company -
How much is too much? How big can you go on a stocker with pipes? At what point do you go to 34/35? The engine is only going to handle so much fuel/air. This is restricted by a number of things. Bore, pipes, but stroke shouldn't change how much fuel is atomized-right? Great question! Adam

I fine it hard to believe Patagonia is trying to rally to close riding areas. The only reference I found to them was they support legislation for registration of OHV on public lands, fines for breaking the law and holding citizens accountable for breaking the law. This is a company that depends on outdoor activities for revenue. Granted most riders are not wearing their clothing or equipment. Adam -
My girlfriend does not like dirty hands. You do the math on that one... lol I gave up being a plumber and HVAC tech to do Intel for the Navy. I grew up on a dairy farm and have shoveled poop since I was old enough to hold a shovel! Adam
-
Tested? No, Rideable ya lol - If all else fails I will run up and get my 125. That thing is fast! I will have something to ride at least and we can have fun! Brandon will be riding too. I should be able to get it back together tomorrow after school. Adam

Free for the guy in the Navy that is being stationed in Bahrain for a year? Hint Hint!!

Well I went home at lunch. I ran to the computer pulled up the manual. Read it and went out to the garage. First thing I did was check alignment, it must be done whole in gear jeff at fast told me this the dog is under the center of the shaft whil in neutral Then I removed the eccentric screw and found large gouges. Reinstalled as I can't do much then adjusted to the proper spacing and the shifting looks better. Need to test it to be sure. I have a new screw folding washer and shaft on the way from FAST. So my shifting mech will be new. Clutch slips intermittently but I'm going to live with it until I build a motor when I'll need a new clutch anyways. Thanks for the help, Adam
-
Tyler, I'm at work and on my phone. The eccentric screw - is that te one between the shifter spring? Troy and I both have the same problem. It's hard to shift under load w/ or without the clutch. We're not trying to shift like an override but the rpms have to back down quite a bit to shift. My shift shaft is worn and could be part of my problem but they are generally doing the samething. Adam

Helicoil is the proper fix Adam
