  1. welcome and enjoy the forum. get some pipes, take that lid off the air box. throw some 280 main jets in each carb. throw a k&n clamp on airfilter or pro design with adaptor in the airbox and it will wake up the bike alot. i always do the maintance stuff first when i get a new bike. air filter, plugs, new tranny fluid ect. take good care of her!
  2. i had a tranny problem on mine and had to split the cases. i wanted to go 4 mil down the road but i figured since im already down there might as well go 4 mil. i didnt have the $ so i charged it to my credit card? was it worth it? hell yea! the bike is nasty! you might wanna consider it....
  3. blasters have oil injectors, banshees dont. get a ratio cup at your local dealership. i personally have always stuck with a 32:1 ratio
  4. welcome to the forum. when you clean it will depend on how long you ride, what conditions ect. if your riding with your buddys and theres alot of sand in the air or your behind them then of course your air filter is going to get dirty quicker. staying in front will help post pone the time when you need to clean it and will avoid the dreaded boulders getting kicked back at you. i know first hand my light got cracked a few days ago lol but it was a great time. if it looks really dirty clean it. dont forget to clean the airbox too if you have one. think of it as your lungs. the cleaner it is the better you will breath. same with the motor.
  5. Welcome and enjoy the forum. Nice bike! Take good care of her
  6. i would go with jeff at fast or kevin at hjr. both awesome guys and they know there shit
  7. you dont have to port the cylinders but you will have to shave the head or get a coolhead with the correct domes for the 4 mil crank. BUT porting the cylinders and going with a 4 mil crank will make it a totally new addicting bike. it will def wake up a 4 mil when ported
  8. It was basically acting like a streetbike when you hit the rev limiter. I changed the gap on the plugs and adjusted the gap on the flywheel/stator pick up and I think it cleared up the problem. I took it down the street and it seemed ok. I'll report back when i get to go for a real ride. Sorry for the typo . I'm on my cellphone and it auto corrects and changes words sometimes
  9. geezez sorry about that guys i freaking chopped the wrong plug. heres the new one . this is how i did the plug chop. engine was already warmed and been riding for a hr. put the new plug in started it. punched it from 1st-4th and keep it pinned at 4th for about 3 seconds and killed it while throttle was pinned. i did this twice and pulled the plugs out, put old ones back in. seems almost on right now prob a lil lean but what the hell would be causing it to seizure at the top of the power band? i gotta check the gap on the plug
  10. i have been having a very hard time getting my hjr 4 mil dune port dialed in correctly. kev recommened 330 mains ( stock cabrs) and it ran well but at the top end of the power band it would seizure. so i jumped to 370. ran like shit. down to 340. worse then the 330. went to 320. ran about the same. put the lid back on the air box for shits and giggles. and alot better improvement reved out good and didnt really seizure much but that was like 40 degrees out. since its in the 70's today im down at a 310 with lid on and its still damn seizuring at the top end of the power band. i did a plug chop and heres the results. please correct me if im wrong.... it should be a light brown color not bigger then 2mm. it looks really rich still so im thinking about dropping down 2 or 3 sizes on the main jet. maybe a 290? thoughts everyone please! someone with a 4 mil storker not ported was running 270 in the summer with the same elevation if im not mistaken so im guessing the dune port cant add that much air so maybe even a 280 main jet?
  11. take off the lid and throw in some 280 main jets. that should get you very close if not dead on. plug chop with that setup will give u a 100% answer. my banshee before i went 4 mil & port job i had fmf fattys/sliencers k&n clamp on air filter in box with lid off. i ran 270 mains and it ran very nice. i didnt do a plug chop though during that time but i know it was close by how it felt. it ran very well in the summer, your going to have to jump to 290 or 300s in the winter
  12. welcome to the madness! do tell the mods you have and add some pics
  13. im currently running my 4 mil dune ported shee on stock carbs. its pretty nasty. once i get that itch again for more power and have the $ ill do more mods down the road. since you have to spilt the cases i would def go 4 mil and port it. you wont regret it..... even with stock carbs
  14. woops i gotta fix my last post. i actually had to drop down to 320's and put my lid back on my air box. now it runs nice and clean. make sure to plug chop after all your work is done
  15. good luck and dont forget to do a plug chop. ill be doing the same thing soon
  16. what is it doing? boging out at low rpms like at take off from a dead stop? sounds like a jetting issue. what kind of air filter? stock air box? lid on or off? what temp are you riding in currently? we need more info. you said it seems to pull up top ok? my 4 mil with a full dune port from hjr pulls like crazy especially at powerband. a 10 mil thats ported should pull like a train. you should def do a plug chop and see if your running too lean or rich. new plugs always help too
  17. do you have port work done or your not sure? my 4 mil stroker with a hjr full dune port i am currently running 320 mains in stock carbs with 27.5 pilots, fmf pipes, k&n air filter in air box with lid on. i def dont think you need 340... whats the temp right now that you'll be riding in? mine is running great now at temps 40+. so when its 80+ ill prob drop down another jet. ( i still need to do a plug chop to make sure im 100%) before i went 4 mil with a full port job i had pipes, k&n in box with lid off, stock carbs with 270 mains and 25 pilots. in the summer it ran great. once the temp dropped down alot i had to bump it up to 300's and put the lid back on. if you have some kind of port work done throw some 300's in there and see how it runs. if it runs good with no problems ( pulls hard and no seizure at top end of powerband then your prob almost dead on. only way to tell for sure if your running to lean or rich would be to do a plug chop
  18. i finally got my 4 mil dune port from hjr dialed in for the most part. ( no plug chop yet) but it runs amazing, fast and pulls very hard. nice work kev! bansheeboie.... what kind of carbs are you running? i got stock
  19. What kind of air filter? Is it in the stock air box? Lid off? Snorkel off? A guy with a 4 mil with no porting was running 270's in stock carbs. I was running the same with my stock stroke banshee with pipes ect. I would throw some 300's in. If it runs good with no issues make sure to do a plug chop and you will know to go up or down on jets. My 4 mil with a full dune port with pipes k&n in stock air box with lid off was running pretty good at 330's. Going to try 320's tonight. At redline the bike seizures. Could be electrical.
  20. i had 280 mains and 25 pilots and it worked very well with basically the same set up as yours. that should get you at a good point if not dead on. me neighbor has 280s and 25's in his and it runs great now.
  21. i was running 280s in the summer with stock cylinders, fmf pipes/silencers, k&n air filter in airbox with no lid and no port job work at 1000ft above sea level. winter i bumped it up too 300's. im currently running 330's with a full dune port and a 4 mil crank, +4 timing. i need to rejet much higher like in the 370s due to the motor work. porting and having a bigger crank is the way to get the most h.p out of the banshee. of course with a bigger crank you need to mil the head or get a coolhead with domes to match. any sponsors on this site will get you in the right direction.
  22. if you really want some power i would go the 4 mil route and get it ported. if your low on cash just get a port job
  23. you might wanna try some solid tip spark plugs. i also have a 4 mil with a dune port from hjr. after riding for a lil bit the topend of the powerband would misfire. checked the plugs and the tip of the plug came loose from all the vibration of the engine. br8es solid is the way to go
  24. welcome to the madness. +1 to what he said. i went from pipes, air filter rejet ect to 4 mil crank and a dune port from hjr. HUGE difference. arm ripping power! worth every penny! a 4 mil and port job pulls soo hard when the band kicks in. totally different quad. if your compression is still good ride it till its time for a rebuild then go the 4 mil and port job route if you have the $. oh and get used to having empty pockets... this sport requires alot of cash and options are almost endless to what you can do. ride hard but safe! what size jets are in there now? what kind of air filter? is the lid and snorkel removed? more info would give you some better direction
  25. i just finished breaking in my 4 mil stroker with a hjr duneport. this thing hauls ass! nice work kev! hjr got my vote. big difference
