  1. is the tors brain off the bike? ( under left side of gas tank) unbolt it, disconnect and throw in the garbage!
  2. noss head would be my choice. haha i got a noss head with 21cc domes to run on 93 pump gas. i love it. you should really consider porting the cylinders and i would go with kev at hjr or jeff at fast. prob the best bang for your buck performace wise when getting the cylinders ported. sheerider11.... i would really consider going 4 mil with a port job. its a huge difference.... like a feel of the seat difference! you will be very happy with the set up. i rode my neighbors shee today after i helped him tune his bike. it was basically my old set up before i went 4 mil and dune port. his bike rips dont get me wrong but mine hits and pulls so much harder! 4 mil ftw!
  3. i love my 4 mil dune port on stock cylinders. the bike rips! alot more powerful and faster then how it was before with just bolt ons like pipes jetted ect
  4. ok then go with what i said ( jets, lid off) and do the plug chop at wide open throttle with NEW plugs in just before you do it. yes it will make it use a lil bit more fuel (you wont notice the difference though) but the whole point is you want the best performance and life out of your engine.... correct? dialing it in correctly with the right air/fuel mixture will do this. the engine will perform better when you do this too. you def have some sort of problem with it drinking the gas as much as it is but now you will be jetted properly which is 99% more important. this is not a cheap sport. since you will have it dialed in correctly (with the plug chop confirming it) you will have a solid foundation to start with and then can figure out the problem not worrying about possibly killing your top end which is a easy 300 bucks.... what temp is it there now or that you are going to be riding in and your elevation? i should of asked about the these before too because when you have it dialed in for summer temps you have to go up a few sizes in jets for the winter
  5. i would def do a leak down test. 300 sounds a lil rich with the mods and elevation you are at... ( thats if you have no leaks) did you do a plug chop where u took off the threads of the plug to get the reading? also was it wot for a few seconds then killed it and took the NEW plugs out?
  6. lol. ok so you have stock carbs with the tors tops removed. i would go with 270 mains and make sure you take that damn lid off and let her breath! this should get you very close if not dead on for jetting. do a plug chop ( where you actually saw the threads off on the plug to get the reading) to get 100% conformation though. it will def be alot better then the 220 thats in there now. you know how to do a plug chop correctly right? search function is your friend
  7. now thats the truth! i must say though thats awesome that she likes to ride bikes ect.
  8. yea i always pull started mine.... especially in the snow
  9. good post i would like to know the answer to this too. i have heard that they are suppose to be better then vforce. i could be wrong though
  10. you have stock carbs correct? if so take that lid off the air box and throw some 280 main jets in. whats your elevation? if its close to 1000ft above sea level. 280s will be perfect with that set up. ( fmf, k&n filter and lid off) i had the same set up before i went 4 mil. it will def make the bike perform alot better since it will be dialed in right. as for the hr tank of gas something might be wrong... do take into consideration that when your wide open throttle all the time these kind of bikes cug the gas. are you sure it was under a hr for a whole tank of gas including reserve?
  11. there are plent of site sponsers but i would personally go woth jeff at fast or kev at hjr
  12. i have a tusk clutch kit and i used 3 heavy duty springs and 3 stock in my 4 mil dune port shee. no problems or slipping
  13. 2001 Chevy silverado. 76k. 24" rims, remote start/alarm, flip out tv/dvdplayer/gps/ipod attachment my first street bike ever... 03 honda cbr600rr loaded (sold) my 1st 05 r1 loaded (bone stock when i got it) my 2nd 01 r1 loaded (sold) my 3rd 03r1 loaded my ones my old toys. 96 blaster, 89 cr250 and my 600rr ( all sold)
  14. that you took to the dunes on Thanksgiving to the dunes? ok we get it.... you went to the dunes .. ok so 10 minutes out you some how sucked sand into the carbs? how did that happen? was your air filter not on properly?
  15. has anyone sent there stockers to ron black for carb mods? if so please give the results. looks interesting. any feedback would be appreciated
  16. take the lid off the air box and throw in a k&n air filter clamp on style, throw a 280 main jet in and you should be good to go. make sure you do one carb at a time so that you dont mix up the bottom carb bowls ( yes they are different), make sure choke cross over tube is back in place and ride the shit out of the bike. i would do a plug chop to make sure its dead on but this should get you very close. i had the same setup minus the vforce reeds and the bike ripped with a 270 main
  17. hell yea perfect time. ha id even go 10 mil if you have the funds
  18. i personally use 32:1. make sure the ratio you use for the break in is the same ratio and oil your gonna use for the life of the top end
  19. def get the +4 on the timing. if your lid is not off your air box take it off. then run it till it needs a new top end. keep saving $ till the time comes. no need to waste a good top end. only reason i went 4 mil so quickly was because i had to split the cases to fix a tranny problem
  20. You have to cut off the threads of the plug to get your reading from a plug chop. thats why they call it a plug chop.... Like chop off the threads
  21. need more info. is the lid off? what kind of air filter? whats your elevation? temp? if your at around 1000 ft above seal level with lid off and a k&n a 280 main jet will prob be just about dead on or pretty close
  22. pics? 600's are alot of fun and you'll never take them to their full potential on the street. i loved my 03 cbr600rr. sold it to a friend. wish i still had it.... my 03 r1 and 05 r1 are totally different machines. the 03 has tons of low end and mid range grunt with a decent top end. the 05 has decent low end but a big mid range and redicious top end up pull. so im sure you know which one i take on the highway more
  23. are you doing wot plug chops? if so that will only give you a reading about your main jet
  24. heal quick bro! moral of this story...... dont go crazy till you ride the trail once even if you have been there before. ive seen too many people wreck because of this
  25. how do you like the gsxr? i got a 05 r1 with some pretty decent mods done to it and i love it. haha i hear ya bud.... i remember not really going out too much at all except to ride it when i was paying it off
