  1. its def different but it looks fine. nothing wrong with being unique. saving the pipes is always a good thing. gives me some reinsurance if i go the oof way. no dunes where i live well at least what i know of
  2. elevation? temp? airbox? lid on or off? pods? air filter type? who ported your cylinders? this will get you a better answer
  3. Welcome and enjoy the forum. Post pics of the shees
  4. told ya.... is your lid still on the air box?
  5. you can get a k&n clamp on air filter that fits in the stock air box. it has a adaptor to make it work. pretty cheap too like maybe 40-50 bucks
  6. k&n air filters suck in alot of air! before i went 4 mil and dune port. i had pipes, K&n in stock air box with lid off with 270 mains in stock carbs in the summer and the bike ran great (1000 ft above seal level. once it dropped down to the 40's-50si had to go up 3 sizes on the jets and put the lid back on for it to run clean. perfect example right here. trying to get my 4 mil dune port to run clean with lid off. i had to go to 370s with the lid off. with a prodesign air filter and lid off 350s should of been fine. 340s were almost perfect with a seat of the pants feel. very slight misssfire/backfire at the top. keep the lid for special occasions. very muddy and very wet conditions. snorkel is only for when you want to sink your motor in water.....
  7. x2. also what kind of carbs stock? stock air box? lid on or off? pods? elevation and temp riding in. i remember i forgot to put the damn tube back in and it usually always started in the summer but the colder it got the harder it would be to start . put tube back in, boom 2nd-4th kick no problem. sometimes it the stupid lil things we forget to do it prob wont effect it too much when riding but it will become very cold blooded without the tube when starting on a dead cold engine in the colder weather. i dont like the fact of having a open hole in the carb when riding either as things can get in there. i dont even like the overflow on the carbs without the tubes on them. yes im anal about my bike
  8. thank you paul! great ill be looking forward to it in the mail. this product is def worth the $ and save time/ possible leak in your homemade tester when buying this. these have been tested
  9. do you have stock carbs? if so is the choke tube between the 2 carbs in place and connected?
  10. take the lid off, get pipes and rejet, get a timing plate and put it at +4 and your good to go for awhile......
  11. take off air box lid, throw 280 main jets in, boom your set. you have stock carbs correct? if so go with that set up. i had the same set up and in the summer i ran 270s
  12. 4 mil storker with a port job are awesome in the trails!
  13. noss head ftw! haha alot easier when using stock studs and looks great
  14. well its got newer plastics on it for $1508 you can get a 4 mil + port job with custom domes to run on pump gas , +4 timing plate, pancake bearing, noss cool head hjr enraved, shift star and the bike will produce 70-80 hp to the back wheel with the right set up from herrjugsracing. only about 500 bucks more then what you wanted to spend BUT the quad will be about twice the horsepower it would be if you went all stock engine. def worth it! like the others said wish i knew in the beginging to go alot bigger with the engine. ha i would of went with a 10 mil cub. since your new to banshees the 4 mil + port job of your choice will be more then enough and prob scare you. seriously save up 500 more and do that set up or go bigger. the choice is up to you but i highly suggest a 4 mil ported engine or more. not insanely crazy but very content to rip with and hands down alot better then stock engine set up. how much experince do you have with 2 strokes?
  15. I rode around for 30 min. Killed the bike. Put new plugs in, started it did the plug chop and took them out. Put old plugs back in and went home. Both plugs should look the same right? That's why I'm thinking I may be a tad rich with the jetting and have a small air leak on the clutch side ( which made a perfect chop) but is a problem
  16. ok i have a 4 mil hjr dune port. fmf pipes, 1000 ft above seal level, k&n air filter in airbox, stock carbs with 330 mains. i changed my stator/flywheel pickup to .018 and plugs to .022. with the lid on the airbox it runs fine ( screams with no hesistation at redline). with the lid off though it has a rev limiter effect at redline like on a streetbike. i did a plug chop with the lid off and heres what i got..... first pic is the clutch side and the 2nd is the throttle side. seems like the clutch side looks good but the throttle side is rich. what do you guys think? i think that i may have a small air leak on the clutch side as the throttle side is rich looking with the same jets... i have not done a leak down test yet but im guessing thats whats going on due to the plug chop. fix leak and go down 1 or 2 on the mains? i may have an electrical issue though im not sure. this rev limiter effect only happens at a certain rpm ( the very high ones near redline) i can go wot in a higher gear and be fine but once it hits a certain rpm the rev limiter effect happens when the lid is off. i feel that im robbing myself of some h.p with the lid on vs off
  17. If your not sure how long the job would take call the dealership and ask then cut it in half or something at your rate
  18. even if you do charge by the hr at half the rate the dealership does they will be making out better then what they would have. its really up to you... personally i would hook them up the first time (depending on person) with a great deal and let them know any other job after that would be x amount ( your choice and they still save $ over the dealership) this way they have some connection with you and know you do good work. first deal is great and 2nd and on is good. usually this approach will have them coming back to you to do other jobs out of lazyness or lack of knowledge. come on we all know working on bikes is fun when you know what your doing i tuned my neighbors banshee for free but i told him i get the first ride on it though to make sure its dialed in correct. every time i touch the bike it gets better.... man he had a dirty filter and idk wtf happened to one of his plugs. person who had it before him didnt have a clue thats for sure
  19. im sure he has. fmfs arent that bad i like em. yea i know i have them so of course i like em! lol. they are both good trail pipes, never had a prob with mine. finish looks good and has never rusted. my buddy has procircuits on his and they are nice too. im looking for more mid and top end so i think im going to go with sb shearer inframes for my 4 mil dune port. suggestions are appreciated. sniper pipes seem cool not sure if it would go good with my setup though....
  20. every forum will have good and bad. thats how forums are. ive been on a few different ones for different things. yes there will be drama and ball busting left and right but at the same time there will be important info also. the hq sponsors are a great example. they do some awesome work. send your cylinders out to get ported and go 4 mil when its time for a new top end and you'll know what im talking about... i do agree that the ball busting here is a lil above normal but hey its the internet. there are some great people here who have helped me out with some questions. obv search before you ask a question and thats why the noobs get there balls broken more then others. they dont think to search before they ask. i do have to agree that answering the same question over and over can get tiring and thats when the ball breaking comes out for the most part. its like ugh again? the thing i beleive that is hard with the searching is that you have to pick a category first then search. i didnt know that at first.... i thought just sign on and search. for awhile i was like what the hell? why isnt the serach working? then i figured it out. given all the info you can find on here, seeing peoples set ups and reviews, product reviews, and general riding stuff this place is like home to me. remember we all share the same thing in common on here.... we love banshees and are addicted to the 2 stroke vapors!
