  1. Its just a bad pic. I did use 3Bond on the gasket. its just 1 gasket. Tore it up pulling it off. Was good before tho. I'm not sure about he part # on the piston, would have to go look.
  2. its not 360, is mostly on the intake side, the exhaust side isn't worn as bad. Rings /pistons should be correct. HJR did the port/cylinder work..and matched it witht he pistons /rings for me.
  3. I could have carb problems, I was just trying to tune them when this hapepned. I did a leak down when I built it, and it held air perfect. I did put the pin the WP gear.
  4. Hey guys... So this is my first build. My Motor MELTED both pistons last time, so I did a total rebuild. my Impeller was melted last time so i replaced that with a billet one. I have a 4mil crank, used Wisco piston, 30 over bore. Stock Carbs, adjustable timing set a 0 for now. 1 piston had 120 compression, the other had 15-20psi. I pulled the head, then jug off, and I can see that the bad piston was worn against the cylinder. the Rings are worn down, the piston, and the wall of the cylinder is scratched a bit. When I went to take it apart the wrist pin was STUCK... I had to use a CLAMP to push a socket through. was HARD as hell to get it out! What Do you think happened? What did I do wrong? Here are some pics..
  5. Wanted to say thanks to everyone on this Forum. I just completed my 1st Complete Build up. I've owned Banshee's for over 16 years now, but always paid others to do the work, or bought perfect bikes. 2 Months ago my brothers banshee over heated. The Impeller was Melted. I started reading and reading on here, and decided to give it a try. Made a few mistakes, but corrected them from the info on here. I never really understand how these motors worked. Everyone said they were "simple", but splitting cases didn't sound too simple to me. I talked my self into it after reading 100's of posts and You Tube Videos. I sent my Cylinders off to Kevin at HGR, and he gave me a ot of good tips and boosted my confidence. I put it all back together today, and 1 kick, and it started. I could not believe my ears when it started right up. I do have a prob with the right Carb leaking out the overflow tune. ( I assume stuck bowl, so I'll have to pull that out and give it a good cleaning. Thanks guys!!
  6. Even after I snugged everything up..it still moved just the same. I must be either missing something or doing something wrong. I have the spacer on the spocket side. Is there a spacer on the other side ? (clutch side)
  7. Damn... I split again the cases for nothing?! I had the spacer in there.... and it still moved I must have something wrong on 1 side. is there a spacer on the Idler Gear Side? I had the spacer on the Sprocket Side. -Dave
  8. First off, I want to thank Everyone who has helped me so far. Kevin with Herr Juggs, Andy with M&M, Sarge, and everyone here. Thanks for taking my calls, and always giving me good advice/help. So, This is my first build. When I tore it down, i labeled every single thing, and everything went back together perfect.....or so I thought. I had it ready to put back in the Frame, and then I noticed something that didn't seem right. The Shaft that connects to the Idler Gear and Sprocket can shift back and forth about 1/8 inch. I dont see anything missing. Half Moons are in, and the bearings dont move, just the shaft. I made this little video to help explain whats happening. What did I do wrong?
  9. Ok! I'll check on that bearing holder (pretty sure it was off). And all bolts were off. Trying to get this thing apart so I can send it to you.
  10. This is my 1st complete motor build. I've watches TONS of video's and read lots of great info on here. I've got my whole motor torn down, but I cant seem to get the cases to split. 1st I started tapping it with a rubber mallet, and the first tap I broke off an part of the case (the last bollt that hold the stator cover above the sproket). I guess I can live with that, or maybe have it repaired. But I cant seem to get these cases apart. Any Tops/suggestions? Can that part that was broke off be welded ? it not anything that holds presure or oil. Thanks for your help!
  11. I agree, Give Andy a Call. He has helped me so much with one of my builds that he is doing for me. GREAT guy!
  12. Great Tutorial. I'm going to use this / My Clymers to do my first build. Thank you!!!
  13. Need a little advice guys... Blew the top end of one of my bikes. Lost compression. tore down the top end, and saw the the pistons we TOAST/melted/etc. I'm not even sure what caused it. Used the same gas I've always been using (93), and used 32:1 as I've always done. Anyway... I thought it was as simple as just having the cylinders either honed or bored (at the advice of the machine shop), buying new Pistons, Gaskets, etc. And putting the top end back together. One person advised me it was a bad idea not to break down the bottom end also, as parts/metal/etc had to have gone somewhere (could have been exhaust, could be in the bottom of the motor. I'm not comfortable yet splitting the cases. I've never done it, and i'm nervous about doing it. I'm Semi Mechanically inclined when it comes to working on cars/basic mechanics, but new to working on my own 2 strokes. Would you tear bottom end apart also?
