Yes, I'm working on getting the topic's dates fixed. Sorry about that guys!
Everyone should try to get donations to sell at the ride. I'm going to send a few emails out explaining the situation and the cause. I'll probably include a link to this thread. Together we can do this guys, but we all need to do our parts. Send emails out, talk to local shops.
We do need someone to have ownership of the drag races. If someone wants to take it one step further, contact Wolfe Bros, they can set it all up and even have the lights and all that stuff. Their site is www.wolfebros.com
They've put on races there in the past. If we can get them involved and on board with the benefit then they could draw in a lot of racers. But the key is that this must remain a benefit and not an event to fatten their pockets. This race is a race to help a fellow HQ member and his family out.
If we can get enough donations we could have a silent auction. If we can get enough items, we can bring the stuff to the benefit ride to raffle off. I've done this in the past for my Wife's uncle and we raised $5,000. We wrote information about the item on a brown lunch bag. We sold raffle tickets and if you wanted a chance at winning that item you put raffle ticket(s) in the bag. At the end of the benefit we drew one ticket from each bag and whoever had the matching number on their ticket wins the item. The only way we could pull something like this off is to get a lot of donations. We could do the auction all day and draw Saturday night.
Some items I'd like to get
subscription to Dirtwheels
T shirts
gift cards to places like Rocky Mountain ATV
stickers of any kind
gear
you get the point....
