  1. it will not store well, Alcohol itself doesnt store well because it sucks in moisture and you will end up with a water alcohol mixture. plus i know in small amounts premixed alcohol will make a white gunky paste substance. once your done riding for the year, drain your tank and clean your carbs.
  2. thank you larry. i guess i get the fun of tuning it.
  3. i dont think your understanding what im typing i bought the quad from a guy, who said he had it bored to 64.5. on the stock head. i had to repair the kickstart gear because a bushing wore out and was able to tell then that the motor was complete appart for the rebuild while riding it, the headgasket blew, i could tell due to antifreeze leaking into the cylinder and outside the head. I pulled the head to replace the headgasket, and found that the reason why the previous owner bored it to 64.5 was due to him blowing it up to the point that stuff hit the head, chipping it all up. He just cleaned the head up and reused it. Well looking closer, i was able to see a big scar in the cylinder, which had to of occured when he blew it up, because i could tell it was honed, and the pistons were in great shape, just some carbon buildup. knowing the scar would kill my compression due to blow by, i got a set of freshly bored cylinders that are 65mm, and 2 brand new pistons for it. i also got a cool head to fix the chipped up head issue, i know that everything that i did is top notch, not my first rodeo building 2 stokes, i just wanted to know if it was going to knock me way out of wack for jetting.
  4. previous owner blew it up, and i know he split the cases cuz they are siliconed together, he just blew it up bad. i rode it for prolly 5 hours before the headgasket blew, only reason why i pulled it appart. i know the bottom end is clean, and i know everything i replaced is good.
  5. So last time riding i blew my headgasket, so i started pulling the top end appart to replace it, come to find out the head looks like someone hit it a billion times with a center punch, and the cylinder has a big scar in it. Apparently the thing to do when you blow up a motor is to half ass hone it, and put new pistons in and go. anyway, i got a ADA coolhead with 21cc domes. and a set of cylinders bored to 65mm with some dune porting done to them. to fix the whole deal Question is, do i need to adjust my jetting, needles, or premix ratio for this? Also they told me to run the first 5 hours at under 1/2 throttle, and at 24:1 ratio. all i see this doing is fouling out plugs and putting carbon on the new pistons. should i run my normal 32:1 and just take it easy for maybe the first hour, and then let it eat? on my CR250 motors, we would put a piston in and no worry about breaking it in at all. cliffs, Previous owner screwed me, bought new ported cylinders and cool head does jetting need to be changed what are proper break in instructions
  6. my favorite to run is powermist extreme, i ran that in my cr250 on alky. worked great. i actually have it in my quad currently, but for local buying i buy klotz or 927 and have no issues. i just really hate yamalube
  7. i ran razrs on my old one, worked great, i bought holeshots currently, and love them.
  8. im not a hardcore 2stroke guy, but i know on my smallblock chevy, the motor on higher octane runs better with more timing, so i figured i would mention it incase timing was a touchy issue.
  9. I have 5 gallons of 100 octane low lead gas laying around. would i see anybenifit to running it? I dont have my timing advanced as far as i know. The person before me might have. thanks.
  10. stock banshee shocks, if i could find some yfz shocks cheap enough i would run them
  11. only picture i really have. ill grab one at break in 20 min
  12. and if you have to do a top end, its a breeze, the biggest paint in the ass about doing it is pulling the motor out, the rest is hard to fuck up lol
  13. thats my friends, he is redoing it, currently it is stripped down to almost a bare shell, its getting redone in and out to a street strip car with a 400SBC and 6speed t56
  14. i figured i would share a few of my vehicles on here since im bored at work, this was my truck during the winter, it looks different now, but this is the best picture i have of it then this is my bagged truck, got it when i was 16 and it was stock, and did all the mods myself. it needs paint now though then i have a dirt modified that i race on the weekends. and a 47 chevy pickup just a few of the toys i have around, everything else is a project currently
  15. the copper washers wear out, and get thin making it not seal. i suggest new washers
  16. thanks, i finally got it back together last night, waiting for some silicone to dry, then going to fill the clutch with fluid and see if its all back to normal. if it is, then ill put my new reeds on. im still waiting for a set of stock headlights so i can put my new wiring harness and kill switch hooked up. currently you have to stall it to shut it off.
  17. mine will sit and idle all day, but still has low and bog. should i still plan on adjusting the needle?
  18. i have the same problem, i was told to lower my needle down.
  19. not many people that are into quads are going to leave them that way, sorry to say it, but i think its the ugiest colors yamaha ever made.
