  1. Im in the food and pharmaceutical industry, and we use anti-seize on all of our stainless hardware, otherwise it galls up and locks in place.
  2. it is all carb related. im sure.
  3. i have the same one, fits great. only thing is it doesnt come with the rubber grommets for vibration and flex. Im buddies with a racing rad guy, and he cant get the core for less then 150. never had problems with the ebay one.
  4. i think the toomey needles is what most people run on stockers.
  5. i have heard of being to lean causing backfiring. quick question, how clean is your air filter. I had midrange issues at one point because i had an outerwear go bad, and it was like putting a bag over the air cleaner.
  6. as to the last part, it wouldnt make it build pressure, it would more then likely just let it leak. it needs to have something building the pressure. for example the crankcase, or coolant building pressure due to heat. It takes a lot of pressure to overcome what the vent can let out, making me think it is a crankcase leak as well.
  7. either that, or do you think the RPM is dropping enough under half throttle that it is struggling to pull and needs to be down shifted? 6th gear the motor has to work a lot harder to recover the momentum
  8. whats your setup. motor carbs ETC so we can know a little about it.
  9. i run 28's on my stock cyl, 4 mil stroker. stock 450's are easy prey. and my one buddy has a fully built trx450 and i can beat him every time, as long as i dont fuck up the launch.
  10. normally around 70-80 is the max hp you are getting on a trail bike that is ride-able unless you run crazy octain.
  11. pancake is good for any setup. keeps the ball from welding especially if you have to ride the clutch at all. big HP guys normally just automatically put them in there.
  12. do you have the correct number of friction and steel plates in the clutch? if i had it all ripped appart, i would have put a pancake bearing in there, so you dont have to worry about the ball seizing. as for throttle sticking, does the cable move freely, and does it have any sharp kinks in the cable or is it all smooth curves?
  13. i think when he says all wires zeroed out that they all are conducting correctly with no resistance. i have never seen anyone have a great amount of luck with aftermarket parts just so you know. have you taken the plug caps off the wires, trimmed them by about 1/2" and put them back together?
  14. i have one of the silver rod vito's in mine, still running good.
  15. your going to have to have insurance, a waiver wont be enough, and it will most likely cost you your first born child.
  16. sounds like the tell tail signs of a coil starting to fail. once it gets warm, it wont put out spark until it cools down. OEM coil or aftermarket?
  17. by air leaks, meaning the motor could be sucking air, check that your carb boots arent riped. that intake gaskets are good, ever base gaskets, or pressure test it. there is a thread on how to do that with simple home depot stuff.
  18. midrange can be the needle, im going to assume you checked for air leaks?
  19. He basically said they all call it "high flow" but its actually just more pressure in the system. it will improve cooling lol.
  20. i love my SLP's i got from JD the bottom and middle pull is out fucking ragous.
  21. mine are pretty open on my farm. i love the feel of a bike with a lot of bottom and mid range, that instant power. That's why i built mine the way i did. Figure worst case if i can top it out too fast, i can always change gearing. I also never go to the dunes, as there isn't any around here.
  22. i would say a stock cylinder 4 mil stroker is what i would build. similar to what i have, the 4 mil will give you more power everywhere. get a MX port, as it will let you keep the bottom end for the trails, and still bring the top end power. should be able to do that for under 3k. only thing i dont know about is the trans, but thats because override i dont think is suggest for trails if i remember correctly.
  23. the one guy going said they didn't have any available when he went to rent. I got my rotor and sprocket guard, just have to install that, and go over some stuff, i normally am pretty good to know when to beat on it, and when to go slow and not tear it up. biggest thing i worry about is water. currently i have an issue when it gets wet, but i'm hoping some dielectric grease will stop that. I will be bringing a strap just in case so someone could pull me back to camp need be.
