Herr did my 4mm MX port on my woods bike and I couldn't be happier. -
Yup a 4mm needs jets. Still need help?
-
Thanks for the info man. Its looking like SLPs or PT Highs. Time to do some research.
-
Ahhh gotcha. Either way these FMFs gotta go. ProCircuts and 916s huh??? Would be that much better than the FMFs and PT Mids on a ported 4mil? Also what carbs you guys thinking?
-
Thanks bud. I REALLY like that curve. These might be a contender. Ill have to find a few graphs of PT Mids and compare.

Got any info on those pipes? I've read alot about their sled pipes but never on a shee. Doing some searching now and not finding much. This winter I'll be looking into bigger carbs and better pipes but don't want to sacrifice too much low end. Stock carbs and FMF Fattys now. Any recommendations on what size carbs and pipes for a serious woods bike?

And yet another jetting question (4mm w/ stock carbs)
MLack replied to MLack's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Figured i would update this for someone searching in the future. After a few plug chops and running this through the woods i ended up at a 350 main, middle clip on the needle. 27.5 pilot and 1.5 on the screws. Shes a monster! -
Alright All. My reviews after 4 weekends of riding..............ITS A FUKIN MONSTER!! 4stroke torque down-low and a hard hitting 2stroke power up-top. What more could you ask for??? Had to re-learn how to ride this quad. Give it a little too much throttle down low and you are staring at the sky. Once its in the pipe it just keeps on pulling and pulling.,......and pulling. I just need to figure out how to put the power to the ground... Re-valved and re-sprung rear shock with Kenda Kutter XCs ain't doing the trick. Overall I am very pleased with Kevin at HJR. Answered very question I had for him. His ballpark jetting suggestions were almost spot on. I couldn't be happier with this motor so far. And has much more in it if I upgrade my carbs and pipes. Currently running stock carbs and FMF pipes and still hauls the mail. Wouldn't hesitate at all to send another motor to him.

I'll try to keep this short as possible. Looking for a ballpark jetting for my new woods build. 4mm crank, HJR MX Hardcore Port (stock cylinder) Noss Head w/ 23cc stroker domes FMF Fatty Pipes VForce4 reeds STOCK CARBS +4 timing open airbox w/ K&N Filter. 1,000ft elevation Thinking 340 mains and 27.5 pilots. Thoughts? Anybody have any expiernce with stock carbs on a ported 4mm?

Quick pics of the jugs. Both jugs have identically the same dimensions. I checked with a micrometer are soooo close to each other if not exact. The pic of the transfers sucks and will retake that. The before and after of the transfers is almost comical. The exhaust is smooth as glass. I'm very impressed so far. Intake Exhaust Transfers (taken with potato)
-
Wow, alot of HJR hate but not alot to back it up.......Parts showed up today. Will post pics later tonight.
-
Hes got the jugs now so we'll see. Ill post pics once I get them back.
-
My powdercoater put little ear plugs in when he coated it and removed them before he baked it. Worked awesome. No buildup of powder around the plugs and nothing in the threads.
-
I've been looking into this as well. ASV has different part numbers for both so.......IDK
-
Hard to say what happened there. Pull it apart and have someone else look at it and report back with their findings. For now I have full confidence in what he can do. From talking to him, and a few members here with this port; I don't anticipate any problems. CAMATV: Thanks for the input and the PM about the trans. Ill be sending you the trans once funds allow after the crank and porting is done.
-
After talking to pretty much every builder I shipped the jugs to Kevin today. Going with his MX-hardcore port and pump gas domes. Probably go with Jeff for a crank. Couple other questions. Frame, swingarm pegs the whole 9 yards has been powdercoated matte black. I don't want to toss these ugly looking jugs and cases in this nice frame. My powdercoater will do the jugs but wont do the cases unless the rubber mounts are pressed out. I really don't want to have to do that and buy new mounts. How well does hi-temp paint hold up on cases? Not worried about the temp but more or less gas, oil coolant etc spilling and removing paint. or thinking of cleaning them really good and coating them in sharkhide. Thoughts? Going with VF4 reeds. Will I have a problem running my stock rubber manifolds with these reeds? Finally, a local guy is selling a Toomey radiator for $150 in good condition. Is this any better that the $90 oversized ones you see everywhere else?

Ditto

I got you. I've read a few threads about it. Found one link to a specific bearing that should fit. Seems like all of these little things should add up to a decent shifting trans.
-
After reading a few more threads its going to CAMATV for sure.
-
Thank you. My brother works in a machine shop. I may have him do this for me.
-
4mm MX port is going to be a brutal woods combo. I will have HJR do the porting and the domes but I may source the crank elsewhere. I'll give Kevin a call and see what the sticky is on his crank. Can anyone elaborate on this "promod" transmission from Redline? Their website didn't tell me much. I called them today but no answer.
-
Ill be looking into that crank for sure and I'll call Wildcard about their MX port. I liked what Kevin had to say about his MX port so.......IDK. +2+1 A-Arms w/ Elkas and a revalved and new spring on the rear. Stock swing arm.
