  1. Waste of paint. Throw those things in the scrap pile.
  2. It's a stock sprocket hub for 1987-1988. In 1989 they went to the 6 bolt hub.
  3. OK, wasn't sure if PJs have a drain screw like stock carbs. Guess not.
  4. Agree 100%. Don't know what you're thinking for budget, but you should plan on about $1,000 for crank, pistons, bore, porting, gaskets, seals, modded trans, domes, etc. If you don't have that to spend, you need to rethink where you want to go with this.
  5. Wow, the only thing you don't have in that box is some sandwiches.
  6. The O ring they are talking about is for the aluminum tube that the hose hooks onto and goes up to the cylinder head. It's held in with a snap ring and the only way to get to the O ring is to pull the clutch cover. The lower radiator hose that you disconnected just goes onto the spout that is part of the clutch cover. The only way you are going to find this is to look and see where it's leaking out of. If you have a buddy with an auto repair shop, they will have a cooling system pressure tester that goes on in place of the radiator cap. Import cars use the same size radiator cap as a banshee.
  7. If you're bending it, somethings wrong. It should rotate easy. If you want to make a really nice tool, find a decent quality phillips screwdriver that has the same size shaft and grind the phillips end off it.
  8. Probably leaking onto the top of the cases and draining down through the drain holes in the cases below the carbs.
  9. The carb sync guy is a total idiot. Do not do anything he says. Jlsparky does that carb cleaning video. His videos are generally pretty good with only about 10% wrong information.
  10. There's 4 screws that hold the float bowl on. Grab the fat end of a phillips screwdriver. Put the pointy end of the screwdriver in each screw and twist.
  11. Yep, post a few pics. Especially, the caliper mounting holes on the spindle and the calipers if you have them. Notice how the ears on the grey hub in the pic is thick and the wheel stud is kinda recessed. The late style tapers thinner at the end and the stud is kinda raised up from the aluminum.
  12. Yep, +10.. Stock is actually 18 1/2" center to center with the chain adjust at the midpoint. So a stock length roundhouse is 18 1/2" center to center.
  13. Or you've got such a big air leak that even too big of a pilot can't compensate for it.
  14. Well, you may or may not have something you can use. The lower A arms are all the same. No, you can't use the J arms on your A arm frame. Now, here's the weird part. J arms were 87-90. The brake calipers, spindles, hubs and rotors are 87-89 early style and 90 and newer late style. Sooooo, IF that J arm setup came off a 1990, you can use the brake, hub, and spindle components on your A arm bike. Here are some pics of the early and late hubs and rotors. The late style is on the left in all pics. You can put all of the early spindle, hub, rotor, and caliper on your A arms, but that would be dumb. You can NOT mix components.
  15. Shipping tires from Canada to the US? Sounds expensive.
  16. On any "new to you" bike, you should start with a compression test and a leakdown test.
  17. I would be more worried about water getting into that unsealed switch, causing a bad connection and leaving you stranded.
