You have to start somewhere so give them a shot and report back.
As for disrupting functionality goes I don't see where any aftermarket light would do that. Maybe it's more of a look preference?

I agree with Bennet that people are just cheap or trying to step on your prices just for their own benefit. $280 is fair for this bran new stator and at $100 less than retail.
