  1. So i took my banshee out yesterday and after one lap around a pond it was running on only one cylinder. cant kick start it must be pull started and then its only one cylinder still. pulled plugs, junk but cleaned them and swapped them side to side. still the right side wont fire. inspected the wire and my buddy checked spark while i kicked it. went all the way up his arm to his shoulder. so i have spark and i just got done cleaning the carbs. my plan is to perform compression chekc, pull and inspect carbs, pull reeds to see if i can find any damage. If the carb is just that dirty or something then i'll clean and install to try it again. hopefully the lap around the pond on powerband didn't hurt anything in the motor. the passenger side pipe still smokes so there was still fuel and oil getting into that side but its the heat difference cylinder to cylinder that worries me.... what do you guys think?
  2. Anyone still interested in this swing arm? its a stock style carrier, doesnt include a chain or brake line. will get pics tonight and load them up here. anodized.
  3. okay i wasn't sure if it got to a point that it made sense to step up, i have no idea if my reeds are stock because i dont know what stock ones look like compared to afttermarket. i have had them out to be cleaned after badlands so i know what the ones in it look like. and i have t5 pipes on it. supposedly it is bored out to 410cc but i dunno if thats even possible. oh and some bottom end work. thats all the kid knew and his dad was too stupid to tell me what he did to it..... yes. pain in the ass.
  4. like i said man i dunno for sure but with my buddy behind me at 75 in his mountaineer i gunned it and left him way back there. and his mountaineer has the 5.0 so its not slow. i gotta check for sure though. dunno if my phone is good enough to pull a speed from gps but ill try it.
  5. So not knowing what has been done to the engine in my banshee i was wondering how big of main jets were too big for the stock size carb. Right now im running 290and i might go to 300 or 310 because its still lean. should i be looking to get bigger carbs like 28's? i dunno how or if you can tell what carbs should be on it without pulling the motor apart and figuring out what all has been done to it?
  6. I'm telling ya man that thing is crazy fast but i dont know about any of the mods done to it. i've never found a quad faster than mine hell not even close to mine.... i dunno though i might have a bad sense of speed but a modded ds 650 cant come close nor a modded raptor..... and not even on acceleration but on top speed alone....
  7. I run 13/41 for trails but i run trails that four strokes struggle to run, hey have lots of little steep hill climbs but immediate turns right after them or right before. with trees on both sides. and my powerband is so strong that its nearly impossible to handle in small spaces. keeping the gearing lower allows you to use more gears and gives you more bottom end. but i can still do 90 mph.... never need that in trails....
  8. I was wondering if anyone tried putting 400ex shocks on their banshee? the length is like 17in compressed and the 400 ex was 19 unsprung, i would think that is pretty damn close? anyone try it? The reason im asking is because my friend has a 400ex for parts and a raptor. he wanted to take the elkas off his 400ex, put those on is raptor and then give me his werks shocks to put on my banshee. or i get the elkas i dunno.
  9. hmm ive never checked the caps. I will since i am taking it apart this weekend to clean carbs and everything. but it seems like i notice having problems as soon as i go through dirty water in the woods trails everytime, it doesn't die or sputter but i can tell that the power i had is not there....
  10. Yes it is the stock style with the lid holding the filter in place. but i have a 1/2in of weatherstripping between the front of the box and filter. And i assemble the airbox with it off the bike so i can make sure the stripping is in the right place when i put the lid on..... i dont think it leaks there but it could. How much do you want for the box and filter? what setup did you switch to?
  11. It seems everytime I go out riding and go through water in a trail or in dusty conditions I just cannot keep dirt from getting into the carbs. Its really annoying anymore because after an hour of riding ill have a quad that loses 1/3 of its power and also tends to run hot. I have done to the air system: last two inches of box cut off previous owner cut a bunch of holes all over and put the foam filters in them foam air filter without an outer wear(i need to get one to see if it helps) and i assemble the air box and then install it into the bike so that the weatherstripping at my air filter is perfectly placed so it doesn't leak there. the carbs have new hoses so they are well sealed them selves. does the holes in the box cause a lot of problems like this? Also should i get rid of the foam air filter? i dunno if it will have enough air with a stock filter though as it is bored out and everything....
  12. I have for sale a +6 swingarm for sale that i do not need for trail riding. I can send pics from my phone tonight when i get home. would like to sell by middle of next week as i want some extra money for badlands over memorial wknd. Just pm me an offer and ur phone # and we'll go from there.
  13. i just ordered a stock bumper and it didn't come with the rubber ends on it. Does anyone have any that they would be willing to part with? Or at least know where i could get some. Just no rips or tears in them is fine dirt doesn't bother me.
  14. Did you make it up there? The circle track racing was a joke wish i wouldn't have paid cuz you coulda just started in any race at anytime. they had classes but they weren't even calling them. still fun to ride though.
  15. me and a couple guys wanna go so we'd all be up for it, so there's two banshees, a rhino, few trx450s, a couple 4ooexs and a raptor 660 lol just a few
  16. Devils Lake is having their tip-up festival this weekend. They have drag racing and a circle track all plowed. they also have what they call a red light tour around the entire lake in the evening. Here is a facebook link to their event its a huge event and the lake is something like 1200 acres. http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Devils-Lake-Tip-Up-Festival/250605968812
  17. I LOVE MY RAZRS ON THE REAR! I ride with two guys one with a 400ex with the tires that loco posted first and the other with a 660 raptor but i cant remember what he has. either way i get twice as far as both of them. i have original razr's and i love them. cant wait to get some for the front tires. i got the 6ply for trail riding too and i can run them without pressure if needed and they dont go flat....
  18. see if it will start by pull starting it. i have almost the exact same problem as you. carbs rebuilt, synced perfect, well close to perfect, good spark and fresh plugs. had to pull it for half a mile to start it. but now i can kick start it. i'm guessing it needed more air flow to pull the extra gas out..
  19. Trying to fgure out how to tune the carbs. What i have is a high idle and it was set just fine after the carbs were rebuilt. a couple days later its hard to start then keep running until its warmed up. I have the air screw turned out 1 on both sides. Also when i pull the choke out it revs up. i had it idling and i sprayed carb cleaner around every joint that i could think of to see if there was an air leak. nothing i used a whole can so if there was a leak it woulda found it. Any ideas why the thing revs up when i pull the choke out?
  20. Thanks. my friend wanted to learn more about them so i forwarded him the links. (he prob wants to know why it is that my lil 350 spanks his 400ex) LMAO
  21. I'm trying to find a link on here but i cant remember what it is called. The thread explained how a 2 stroke works with the timing of the pipes, and the length of the intake, and port timing. Anyone know of the thread(i think it was a thread here) i'm talking about? Thanks.
  22. Okay did the Comp test this morning: left cylinder - 109psi right cylinder - 104 psi seems kinda low but i might be able to get by for the rest of the year? And the left side is running a little leaner than the right side but i think it may be too lean overall but not by much. the guy helping me said he'd like to see a little darker plugs than what they are.....
  23. Have you adjusted the lever at the master cylinder? there is a bolt and jam nut that you can adjust for more or less lever movement.... i've been adjusting mine out to get about half lever until the front tires lock. My pads have been wearing pretty fast since i dont have rear brakes and i got to the point where i could pull the lever all the way back to the grip and be barely stopping. I adjusted the lever and it was much better. try that and see what it does....
  24. No the first start after carb work was iummediate. First kick and it was purring. this is two days later. i had a hard time starting it after a couple hours the night we were riding. but it choked and the guy got it started. i did forget to turn the fuel off though but everytime i turned the fuel off before it wouldn't start. if i let it leak(not that much after a night) it would fire up first kick. I didn't try starting it tonight again though cuz the guy helping me(used to race a banshee) wants to see the spark plugs in the morning. the left side is a bit lighter than the right side. comp test in the morning also.
  25. yep its on there. made sure of everything. but i'm gonna do a comp test on it tonight hopefully and post the results here. anything else i should check? I'm also going to check over all the boot clamps just to make sure they are nice and tight so i'm not sucking air anywhere. Would it have anything to do about the reeds? I have no history on them. as far as i know they could be the original or they could be upgrades. No idea. It seems to run fine when it does run though. maybe a little lean but it was cold out this morning....
