  1. I bought a new adapter plate and new two layer foam filter and after having it out both days this weekend i pull the airbox to sync carbs and there's dirt in the carbs again! ugh this is def not gonna work for a weekend at badlands or bundy hill. Any places i need to check for possible air leaks that would let dirt in? This problem is driving me crazy.
  2. Damn it i knew I had something mixed up. I did that just the other day thinking about it. Oh well. should this help the smoking even up between cylinders?
  3. So i tried syncing the banshee with my carb tool today. At idle the right cylinder pulled 7 and the left only pulled 2.5. I can bring the right side down to 3 but the left one will only come up to 2.75 with the air screw turned all the way in. If i drop the right to 3 it idles at 950-1050rpm. Then with the rpm held at close to 3000 i got about 18 on the right side and 7-8 on the left side. But the carb slides are so close that i cant see or hear them move differently. i figured they would need to be way off for that big of a difference in readings on the tool. Any idea what is going on here? The right side smokes considerably more than the left also. Not sure what I can adjust.....
  4. Okay thanks I need to sync the carbs and mess with the needles to get the hesitation and stumbling cleared up right before it goes on pipe. its pretty annoying....
  5. Never said anything about making power at rpm. I know that more rpms doesn't mean more power. Now that I have this trail tech i just wonder what some people have peaked at
  6. Those of you guys with rpm gauges on your quads whats the max rpm you've seen whether on accident or purpose. I saw 12,080 on accident which i believe is due to a clutch that slips sometimes.
  7. how do adjusting the needles height affect tuning in stock carbs? I had mine set at the second from top and moved it to the middle clip. the response in take off doubled. What would happen if i moved it another clip higher?
  8. I'm looking for front tires also but I want 22x7-9 size but i cant seem to find anything larger than 21's. My buddies hondas run 22 inch front tires and i think it helps alot with handling overrough terrain.
  9. Well i see one weld that has paint missing all around it under the left brake hard line....... Thats how we check for material failure at Dana is with paint. helps see cracks and stress points.
  10. This is very true but I know better than to say that to her lol
  11. I can have that out in under 5 minutes. I just can't believe they want so much. Hell I can change jets in under 30 minutes.....
  12. How long does it take to sync the carbs on a banshee? The reason I ask is because all the service places around here want $75 to do a simple sync! I asked just out of curiosity and I was like f-that. I know its not hard and def not worth $75 especially if you dont know whether they use a tool or not....
  13. Yea a melted wire got the gf yelling at me about spending so much money on the quad only for it to break again......
  14. sitting there in bed this morning I got to thinking of one spot that could be problematic. Its where the pipes come inside the frame near the air box on the right side and theres some wires there. never checked to see they weren't against the pipe. Checked just now and lo and behold it melted and grounded out the wires. moved em and fired right up.
  15. Thats what i figured since everything shut off not just spark. Anything that would cause a short with the trail tech? Everything was installed just like the instructions said to....
  16. Is it normal for those to just come loose randomly? I only did top end rebuild and never touched anything else?
  17. I took the shee out today on its maiden voyage after rebuild and tuning. it was 56 degrees ambient and the quad was at 112. I wound it out to about 10000rpm through all gears and when i left off the throttle i lost all spark and even down shifting and playing with kill switches did nothing. The only electrical i did on the quad was the trail tech computer. Would the tach wire ground out the coil to burn something up? its power comes off two 9 volt batteries not the stator power. When kicking i dont even get the headlights to lite up at all like they normally would. This leads me to think that its not the coil. Could there be something wrong with my stator?
  18. I would do that but I dont want to have my lights on all the time to run the computer. There are times that i want to run with the lights off.
  19. Here's what I've Figured out for my power supply. Should make a nice secure waterproof place to put two batteries. Battery holder http://www.allparts.com/18-Volt-Battery-Compartment-p/ep-2931-023.htm Box http://www.ebay.com/itm/200688513013?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_1505wt_1037
  20. Well 6th gear isn't very fast when you run country roads and cover 10 miles at a time. you can ride with one hand on the bars as smooth as it is. But I think ill order it today and see how I like it. And thanks for the reply!
  21. Here's an upgrade to the gauge used also that would make it easier to install and to read small pressure changes. http://www.mcmaster.com/?orderview=new#order-history/=gd42m3
  22. Any other things i should check other than slides synced? Just to double check how can i check which slides go in which carb? I dont think they are wrong but one last thing to double check.
  23. Okay thanks for your help in this. I run the roads alot around here so it would be nice to know rpm while racing down the road in 6th...
