  1. I searched for the shift shaft mod but couldn't get a clear understanding of it. Is there a write-up to explain it? Jared can i source the Shift-Pro kit through you? PM me a price if you stock them.
  2. Thanks for your help. Whats involved in cutting gears? I've heard of this but haven't looked up what exactly this is.
  3. The other day i rode a well built banshee that made alot more power than mine and it shifted way smoother than my quad. He had a lockup clutch and short clutch lever and it was still easier to pull and to shift than my quad. What mods do I need to do to my quad to get it shifting easily? I drag race alot and missing shifts is not an option anymore. I plan on doing the shift star mod and adjusting the clutch. possibly replacing the clutch cable but i don't think it needs that. (clutch is new FAST racing light duty)
  4. I never had a problem at badlands getting buried in the pea gravel but i only have clearance issues down the back of the big sand hill behind the parking lot when it turns to the creek bed.
  5. You would if half the time you were smacking the rear end off stumps and rocks lol
  6. Thats a very important point about lining the sprockets up before welding in place! I prob would have noticed that about the time i was putting the chain on lol
  7. I was thinking the same thing when it came to clamping the carrier.
  8. I think this is how I would smooth up the swingarm into the round style housing. I dont think having that extra material above and below would make a difference in strength really but i could be wrong.
  9. Builder here are some pictures i found of a guy on here that did this mod. How did yours differ from what he did? I think if i did it this way i'd saw off the original mounting holes to make it a more smooth transition too
  10. Could you get me a couple pics of how you did it? The couple pictures I've seen utilized the stock tabs and just did some grinding to let the tube fit but i would like to stay as close as possible to stock axle position.
  11. Is there a write-up for welding in a roundhouse style tube into the stock swingarm? I have bent mounting tabs at the bottom of my stock swingarm and i'm tired of the halfass chain adjustment feature. I can't afford a new carrier and swingarm (well the GF wont let me spend that money) so i have to go the cheap route. I am an experienced welder so i'm not afraid of the fabrication but i just wanted some input as to how its been done before and what you guys would do differently if you did it again. I'm looking at JJ&A tubes too btw.
  12. Yea that is a poor design. I should have just done this and not ordered a new chain since the only reason i replaced it was because it was too stretched. Yea this probably would have been a better plan but i don't think i can return the big sprocket since i ran it through the gears a couple times now......
  13. I am trying to put a 44 tooth rear sprocket on so i can utilize some higher gears in the woods. I ordered a stock size new chain and figured i would just add links accordingly to get the right chain length. I put the larger sprocket on and the new chain i ordered came with 106 links. don't know why because it said that it was supposed to be a 104 link chain. Anyways i couldn't connect the ends with out adding 1 link and putting two masters on. But it seems that now i need a half link to get it to the point that i want it. With how it is now i have the axle almost all the way back to get the right tension. Is the 14/44 combination the problem or am I missing something? Also another thing is that i need a skid plate that has adjustable height to accommodate the larger sprocket. I had to remove the abused stock one to run at all.
  14. I'm i the only one that has noticed the year of this guys banshee?
  15. Well i have the rotor gaurds on mine and I used the bracket anyway since the rotor guards aren't very strong. I drilled out the bracket and guard to fit the stock holes and the magnet through the guard. you could try getting another magnet and jb welding it into the rotor also that would hold better I can send you the magnet from mine since the bolt worked for me. just PM me your address and ill send it to ya
  16. Okay I will do that then, Thanks for the input!
  17. Last question I have about tuning is about the air/fuel screws. I have them turned out 1.5 turns. How can I determine that I have them set right?
  18. wow what a difference that made! the powerband came on so much faster which really helped around the banked turns in the woods trails at bundy hill. Thanks again poolman for helping me to get this straightened out.
  19. I completely forgot to oil that filter before running it. I just used 2-stroke oil pretty lightly but just enough to cover all parts of the filter. I'm sure that was my problem but i pulled the adapter off and regreased that o-ring, greased the o-ring that goes in between the carb adapter and airbox. and greased the boots going to the carbs just to be sure. Going to bundy hill tomorrow so we will see exactly how well it helped.
  20. I have one from Fast which is the one i need to file down. I cant seem to find the other one I bought Plus tomorrow is opening day at bundy hill so were leaving at 7am. Not enough time to ship a screw from kansas. lol I just filed it down and i should be good to go but gotta wait until tomorrow to sync it up as i'd rather not see the cops here again Poolman thanks alot for your help in getting this right!
  21. Well i was adjusting the right screw it turns out but the problem is that my idle screws are not the same. one has a sharper point than the other and has more threads for the locknut to thread out on the screw. The other one's threads stop 1/8" from the head so i can't turn it in enough to sync up the carbs. I can sync them just fine if I take the lock nut off the one though. ugh I'm thinking I can just file down the carb on one side so that the screw will reach in farther. Sound like a good idea?
  22. Cool thanks ill let ya know how it turns out!
  23. I greased the o-ring for the adapter plate but should i be greasing everything?
  24. thanks for the suggestion i noticed the water temp started creeping up about 130 degrees just idling. I hope this gets rid of that damn hesitation.
