I have a set I'm looking to get rid of. Plastic with them is in great shape. Not really sure what they're worth. Make me an offer if you're still interested and we'll work something out. I can take a pic if you'd like. PM me if interested. Ryan

Reputable Builders In Ontario?
SheezFast02 replied to SheezFast02's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Yea FAST is probably where I'll be sending them. My plan is to just jet it with the new pipes and possibly a cool head and ride it for the summer, then I'm doing a full tear-down in the winter with new top end, PC some stuff and basically build it into a real nice Shee. I thought that would be the best time to have the port work done so I wouldn't have any downtime during the summer. I don't mind jetting, the re-jetting. Gives me something to tinker with and swear at.lol -
Reputable Builders In Ontario?

Thanks for the heads up. I think I'll just send them to one of the site sponsors when the time comes. That way I'll know exactly what I'm getting. -
nickisgod hit it. If you ever check one out up close take note of the A-arm placement. You'll notice they're set up to travel in a more rearward direction. This reduces bump steer and I'm sure it'd reduce a ton of rider fatigue, say, during a race or a long bumpy trail ride. Since the machine is traveling forward, it only makes sense to have the suspension traveling a little to the rear to soak up alot of the harsh terrain. I don't understand why Yamaha didn't build the Banshee with the same geometry from the factory.

I think compression on a healthy factory Shee should be between 125-140 PSi.

Damn. Too bad it's not +2. Bump

Careful with engine degreaser around any bearings. Also use caution if you must wash with a pressure washer. A pressure washer won't normally cause you any probs, though. I use one day in/day out on car engines, have for years. Just keep a safe distance and you'll be fine.

Thank for the link. Didn't know air/fuel went into the crankcase. I thought the crank was lubed along with the tranny. Pretty cool stuff.

My appologies, Rodneya. I actually wanted to retract my previous post, but no edit button. I just think the point could've been made without going that route.. And yes, I have lot's to learn about 2 strokes, specifically the Banshee, as I've owned mine a total of about 3 weeks. So if you'd like to explain how my assumption (that bottom end fluid could make its way into the top end) is wrong, now would be a great time to help me learn the difference between 2 and 4 stroke engines. I've owned several 2 strokes since I was a kid.. Never got into a bottom end before so I know nothing about them. Maybe I took your post the wrong way. If so, I appologize. I'm going to have to rejet for the pipes and I plan on running with the lid off, so I'll hold off and pull the carbs when The parcels arrive. Thanks.

Thought maybe some ATF Type-F was getting up into the cylinder one way or another, but mostly figured jetting was the culprit. Rodneya: Sorry I'm not a know-it-all when it comes to 2 strokes. I try and learn what I can, when I can, and apparently I'm not up to speed on 2 stroke engine diagnosis. So why don't you post something about Detailing or paint correction and I'll make you look like an asshole on a public forum. And for the record, I can't stand 4 strokes. I'll know what jets are in there once I get a chance to pop the carbs off. Thanks for your help.

Sorry, I'm running 40:1 Amsoil Interceptor with 91 Octane.

Stock everything until my pipes and jets get here. I'm running a UNI foam filter, no snorkel and lid is ON. Elevation is approx 320' and outside temps are mid 20's Celsius. I did pull the lid off ysterday and ran it for a minute to see if it would make up for possible rich jetting, and it seemed to run a little better under load, still idled perfectly. I have a feeling that the bike was piped and jetted before, but he pulled the pipes off and put the stockers on before I bought it. If that's the case, the least he could've done was told me to rejet. So you think I'm dealing with a rich condition on my main?

Any ideas on what would cause my plugs to be really wet and oily? The bike runs good and has lot's of power, with the occasional bog in the mid-range ( runs mint if kept in the powerband). I'm waiting for pipes and jets in the mail, so when they get here I'll make sure everything is setup correctly, but I'm curious. You think oils getting past the rings and causing this? I'm going to do a compression test this afternoon to see where I'm at with my top end. I'm already sure the previous owner has it jetted wrong, so that would explain the bog.

Where can I get everything I need and can you tell me what's all involved? I'd like to do mine.

We had some cold weather recently where I live and my Shee was a bitch to start. Today's a beautiful warm day and I went out and it fired up second kick. I'd be willing to bet it's just your jetting.
-
Neutral is a pain in the ass on mine as well. I think I'm going to have to put this on my To Do list.
-
Definitely a lack of smoke from the left cylinder. Looks to be a healthy amount coming from the right side. Get those carbs sync'd and check the spark on the left side. Clean Shee, by the way!
-
That looks fairly straight forward. Thanks for the help, guys.

Wow that sounds brutal! I'll have a look at it before I do anymore riding. I'm sure glad I asked. Thanks alot for your help.
-
My bad. I thought they stopped making them all together. That's awesome! Sorry for the hijack!

I figure I'll need a new kicker gear, but wanted to get some input first. Once in awhile my kicker doesn't grab at all for a couple kicks, then grabs fine for several. Do I just need a new kicker gear or is there more involved? Never had a Banshee side cover off. Thanks in advance. Ryan

Nice quad. Am I the only one who noticed he says it's a 2010 model, or am I reading wrong? 06 was the last model year.

Running Amsoil Interceptor in my Shee. Never used Amsoil in my old ATC 250R, but I wish I had. Oh yea, ratio is 40:1 for me.
-
Thanks, man. I'm thinking I'm just going to order 280,290,300,310 mains and it looks like 27.5 pilot is the general consensus. Think all those main jet sizes will suffice one way or another?

Thanks, bro. I'll check it out. Probably gonna do TORS delete while I'm at it.
