X2....rrl is correct according to what kevin told me also. I am willing to bet my shee on that, if you race a stock stroke ported shee against a 4mil/stock ported w/ spacer plate that the stock stroke ported shee wins everytime. Reason is because 4mil/stock cylinder port timing is off.....Just my penny.

Who can tell me about the banshee?

Can't nobody explain to you better than the search box. Try it & do alot of reading. Hope that helps. -
i'd recomend a top case fill and match and a billet basket and a stock cut transmission and your gonna need a good clutch also. ( these are for some reason are left out of the recomended builds?) What is a top case fill? Is that something like case porting to match the cylinders?

banshee motor die on right cylinders
252wheelieking replied to 252wheelieking's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Well I doubt that it was too low of octane, cause I was running 100LL straight using Klotz R50. I didnt do a leak down test before I tore it down, but I do remember it use to leak around my spark plug. It use to blow bubble around the spark plug washer/gasket. It also backed out one time while i was riding it, but I thought it maybe came from not tighting the plug good enough. So I replaced the spark plug & tighten it a little more & it never happen again. My jetting was a little on the rich size far as the main jet. From the looks of the middle of the piston it don't look like it was running lean too me..JMO tho. I do believe that the blow by probaly came from an egg shaped cylinder, cause I brought the cylinders used & just got them ported. I just got kevin to hone them really good & re ringed the pistons. It's Not Kevin's fault at all cause he told me to get a fresh bore with the port job to insure best performance. I didn't do it cause the cylinder still had good compression at the time. I did rejet from the switch of pipes. I ran a 158 mains with the T-5's & 160 mains with the shearers. I plug chop & it was on the rich side. So I let it stay there. No I didn't check the squish & I didn't check to see if the Klotz's R50 was compatable with the 100LL. I don't usually run R50 I always used Supertechniplate but didn't have access to any supertechniplate. That maybe true too cause now that I think about it evertime I install my 18cc domes it don't be long after that something happens to one of my cranks.......Good point....Im sticking with the 21cc domes from here on & pump gas..... The recommendations was referred by Kevin 18cc, domes +5 or +6 timing on 110 race gas. He said I should be ok with 100ll but keep playing with the timing to see which one the bike likes the best. & I didn't I just set it & rode it. That's why I said earlier was it too much timing Ok...now give me an example of breaking it in hard cause im usually a little rough on my shee.... -
What was the problem?

banshee motor die on right cylinders
252wheelieking replied to 252wheelieking's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
What does blow by come from? Why was it detonating? too much timing I am going to split the cases cause it need a new crank. The thrust washer on the right side is shattered to pieces. Hard to see it from pics but the left side of the right connecting rod. -
I need some opinion on what happen to my engine. It had 18cc domes, +6 timing, av gas, jetting was 52 pilots, CEG needle mid clip postion & 160 mains.I had 21cc domes in with 115psi with +4 timing, so I installed the 18cc for more compression but didn't check the compression after I installed the 18cc domes. My bolt-ons are in my sig. I was riding the shee normally when all of a sudden the right cylinder died. I stop & tried to kick it again & it felt like it had no compression at all. It started after about two more kicks but only ran on the left cylinder. So I decided to tear into the top end & see what damage was done & the right piston rings had stuck in the grooves on the pistons. I looked closely at the connecting rods & the thrust washer on the bottomend of the connecting rod was missing. I found alot of metal shavings in my right side exhaust pipe, cylinder & right side bottomend of the crank. So from my assumption the thrust washer from the connecting rod came loose & shattered. Then went thru the transfer & damaged the right side of the topend. I would like some opinions on what cause this to happen to my top end so I will not let this happen again if it was something I done wrong. Thanks in advance. Reek Right side damaged Left side undamaged

banshee vs 700xx vs Renegade
252wheelieking replied to Jgspahn's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Send your cylinders in to a site sponsor & have them trail port it for you. You will definitely kill them on the trails. It will help your bottomend out alot & you won't regret it once you feel the accelleration. O & by the way a banshee & 700 raptor bone stock for stock with both good riders the banshee will lose in a drag race & trail riding. Now with some porting, pipes, compression, timing & jetting it a different story. 700 raptor or any other ATV wouldn't stand a chance unless they had mods done to them also. JMO -
right piston and head pitted
252wheelieking replied to 03banshee20's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I would've like to know what cause his engine to do that. Mines done the samething about 3weeks ago. I tore the top end down & the piston crown & domes was pitted. Rings were stuck to the piston but the cylinders looked fine. The inner crank thrust washer was completely shattered into pieces, but the crank turns smooth. The connecting rod has to much play in it so im just going to send Kevin this other stock crank I have & see what he thinks. Now that I think back what could have cause this, my first sign was when I was riding it & the spark plug backed out. I thought that maybe came from I didnt tighten it good enough. I tighten it pretty good this time & it never backed out again. Last time I checked compression I had 21cc domes in @ 115 psi. But I installed 18cc domes to bump up the compression some more. My set-up at the time it broke down was 18cc domes, +6 timing, 100LL avgas, crank was trued & weld, SB IF Shearers, jetting @ sea level 52 pilots, CEG mid clip postion, 160 mains , temp 90+. I will post pics of what mines look like before I send any parts to Kevin. OOooo dont mean to thread jack...... -
Jetting Question.. Swaping out my T-5s to shearers
252wheelieking replied to DuneBooZeR's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Just thought of something else....What pipes where your cylinders ported for? Cause when I got my cylinders dune/play ported by Kevin they were for T5's. I dailed my jetting in perfect with 158's & kevin personally told me a good jetting starting point would be 160's with the Shearers. I did what he recommended & I was rich on the mains. I now have to get a fresh topend rebuild because of low compression & asked kevin what where my durations for the exhaust port for the T5's & he told me. Then he also said he have to work the exhaust ports some more to match the shearers to see even more mid to top performance. Which is a higher exhaust port duration, so now im thinking more air flow thru the cylinders. That is the reasons you would have to go up on the mains with Shearers because the exhaust ports allow more air to flow freely than the T5's exhaust port durations. So by changing to a pipe that will choke it out more the mains would change & changing to a pipe that flows more freely than what it was ported for the jets stay the same. I hope I made a little bit of sense by posting this....If not im pretty sure somebody will correct me. Hope it helps you dude. -
I think you are way too lean on the main jet. You should be somewhere around the 155-158 area on the mains. I am at sea level running 158-160's depending on the weather. The 150 is why I think you melted your rings & damaged your top end....JMHO... Far as Trinity I never dealt with them. With all the complaints I heard about them & how shitty there customer service is I will never deal with them. I don't have that kind of money to give them a chance to do me dirty. But to each is own. You can give them a try tho. Good Luck

Jetting Question.. Swaping out my T-5s to shearers
252wheelieking replied to DuneBooZeR's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I went from T-5's to Shearers & only went up 1 jet size also. I was running a 158 with my T-5's & went to a 160 with the shearers. It seem to be a tad bit rich so im going back to the 158's. my motor isn't together now but I will give update on how it turns out when I rejet.
