I'm not here to bitch or piss anybody off. This is my HONEST OPINION>altered is the same thing as fixed/changed from original. Either way the porting was changed & wasn't the same way Kevin ported it. All i'm saying is that from this thread the guy says the HJR motor ran better with some touched up porting, tuning & sniper pipes. If I was buying that motor & he told me that, it would lead me to believe that I didn't get the best performance out of this cub from HJR porting. (Just a thought that would have came to my mind) I know this thread is about sniper pipes on a HJR motor. But a perfect review would be just tuning the motor & switching out the CPI's & snipers without any port touch up, alters & etc. Once the the porting been altered/touched up it's no longer a HJR motor. Again just my honest opinion... I never said that you said he was a bad engine builder....I said you are leading people to believe that kevin is not as good as people claims he is far as engine building. Another thing if this is not your motor why are you making a post about somebody else's motor? Not being a dick but what's your purpose for if it did make more power. That's something the owner should've posted. I'm done with this thread.

I sat here & read this whole thread, & from my understanding the thread is SUPPOSE to be about a review on sniper pipes tested on a HJR 421 CUB. When I read this thread I get the impression that you are publicly trying to convince everybody, that Kevin is not as good at what everybody claims he is far as engine buliding. You said on here multipal times that you had a HJR cub, that's obviously ported by Kevin to match your CPI's. Now I have a HJR motor ported by Kevin & his work is awesome. He ported my motor to match my pipes & etc. You said you had somebody else do more port work to the cylinders & threw on some snipers it ran better. Now if you sent the cylinders or motor back to kevin & told him you are going to try out some snipers. I honestly believe that he would have port matched the cylinders to match the snipers & got the engine to run alot better than they are running now with some tuning. My point is that you are comparing how Kevin ported the cylinders to CPI's & performed. Then had another builder go do some more port work for the snipers with tuning of course, & saying that it ran better. I bet if I sent my cylinders back to kevin & told him I need more power out of these cylinders he could do it with more port work & snipers. So like stated in a previous post you are comparing apples to watermelons. Big UPS to Kevin @ HJR.. JMHO

Jetting Question.. Swaping out my T-5s to shearers
252wheelieking replied to DuneBooZeR's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Any updates on your jetting & performance switching from the T5's to the Shearers? -
^^^^OK....Looking forward to it...Thanks

I am willing to trade my SB IF Shearers for some SB IF CPI's, if anybody is interested in a trade. A pic of the shearers are on my shee in my sig. If you need more detailed pics, I can send them as requested.

Im looking for a good used set of SB IF CPI pipes & silencers.

X2....

I had both & I liked the PC's better with a stock engine. I like the T5's better with a ported engine.

T-5's to SB IF Shearers
252wheelieking replied to 252wheelieking's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
NO I never rode a cub, but I rode a 4mil w/ 400 LA Sleeve topend w/ drag port. Assuming there similar set-ups. Made me almost shit my pants....lol...I just didn't like when you release the throttle & rpms drop it wouldn't get right back on the pipe unless you clutched it. Good write up... I'm 220lbs & looking for similar porting as yours. -
For 30K I will build the ultimate 421 serval & buy a new GXSR 1000 & pocket the change.

Exactley....I learned this the hard way....

T-5's to SB IF Shearers
252wheelieking replied to 252wheelieking's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
If them durations is all top end, I most definitely don't want that. On some of the wide open paths we ride we have to slow it down a notch or two & I want/need some useable power in the mid range. LOL...I guess a dune port in general. Do you know your port durations? Like I stated before I DO NOT want all top end. I'm looking for a strong mid-top durations. Let me know how you like your dune port when you get a chance to try it out. -
T-5's to SB IF Shearers
252wheelieking replied to 252wheelieking's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Thanks for the knowledge. I want a good mid-top end port but not a full drag port. More of a agressive dune port. So will 128* transfer & 196* exhaust be good #'s for a agressive dune port? Thanks again as the info you are sharing with me helps alot. -
T-5's to SB IF Shearers
252wheelieking replied to 252wheelieking's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I'm going to get a 421 serval soon as the funds add up I keep that thought in mind. I'm going to get my cylinders port matched & see how I like that. It should run alot better. In my very first post I just wanted to know what my port durations was for the T5's & how much more would I have to raise the exhaust ports to get a duration that the Shearers like. I know I'm going to get different opinions, but that's what im looking for. -
T-5's to SB IF Shearers
252wheelieking replied to 252wheelieking's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I did & the shearers wasnt what I was expecting. Maybe if the porting was matched I'd like them better. That was the case with my shee when it was stock with the T5's before the porting to match the T5's. IDK -
T-5's to SB IF Shearers
252wheelieking replied to 252wheelieking's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Thanks thats' ok. A ball park estimate is better than no info at all. I think I messed up selling my T5's & getting Shearers. My bike ran good with the T5's, I sold them to get Shearers thinking that bolting on Shearers would make more mid-top power. Come to find out I have to get my cylinders port matched to the Shearers, just to make the mid-top power I was looking for. what port name would you consider 128 transfer & 188 exhaust? trail, mx or dune -

I currently have some stock stroke cylinders ported to match T-5's. I brought a set of SB IF Shearers in the mid summer. I did alot of reading in the search box & found that I have to get my cylinders port matched to the Shearers or I could be losing power. I didnt use a caliper to get my measurements, so they could be off by a mm. I used a ruler & got 28/29 mm from top of exhaust to TDC. I got 42/43mm from top of transfers to TDC. I did call the guy that ported my cylinders & told him I had shearers now. He told me that he could port them to match the shearers. (No problem) From what I have read about porting there are alot of variables that can dictate what a porter/builder names his porting based on different durations. I want my shee to be a mid-top (dune port). I just started learning about porting & found that it takes alot of reading & practice. So all help is appreciated. From my measurements what kind of porting do I currently have? All opinions accepted How much will I have to raise my exhaust to get the exhaust durations the Shearers like?

I have one also & it works great for the price. I still would love to see your video tho.....
