how do you guys "Steal proof" your banshee?
252wheelieking replied to ben123's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Really i don't trust people until I know you for a while but then you are still limited. So now I dont even say where im keeping my bikes. When we go riding I just pick mines up from the spot a day before or early that morning. Usually i take them back the same day, if i can't they spend one night at my house. I can't sleep at all even while there in the pen with my dogs chained up. -

Hearing your story & what got stolen reminds me of how my banshee & my neigbors CR500 got stolen. IMHO it WAS somebody that knew you & told a thief/friend of theirs that your guns was in there. They knew what they wanted & came for just that. (sign of inside connect). That's the samething that happen to me & my neighbor. My shee was outside with 300ex, suzuki 250z & none of them was chained up but they just took my shee. 2 weeks later came back to my neighbors house & stole his CR500 out of his old house that he used for a storage spot. Prior to our bikes being stolen we never locked them up or worried about things getting stolen. Until one weekend my neigbor had a cookout & invited everybody over to eat & bring there ATV's, dirtbikes or whateva. One of our friends called & asked if he could bring one of his neighbors to the cookout cause he also had an ATV. My neighbor agreed & we all got together & was drag racing after a few beers. Then everybody went to eat but the new dude stayed over by the bikes just looking at everybody set-up. So my neighbor notice him doing alot of texting & taking pictures of our bikes. We thought that he just admired them & it wasnt anything to it. Well two weeks after the party my shee was stolen then 2 weeks after that my friends CR500 was stolen. Come to find out it was the dude that came with our friend taking pictures of our bikes & sending the picture texts back to the guys that was coming to steal our bikes. Sorry for the long story, but the main point im getting at is your friends may be cool with you but his friends will steal from you. Another LESSON LEARNED -

Exactly....Im from the HOOD where people get shot, killed & steal all the time. Not once had my house broken into or anything stolen from me. Soon as I move out the HOOD in 2007 in a nice neighborhood where, it's not many neighbors & we all know each other. I ask my neighbor/friend do people steal around here. He said NO he never had a problem with people stealing anything from antbody around here. In 2009 my banshee got stolen then two weeks later they came back & stole his CR500 dirtbike. Come to find out it was some guys out of another hood that heard about our bikes, then came & took what they wanted. I found out who the guys we're & seen my bike but couldn't get it back cause they swap chassis. Police took reports & serial numbers but what could they do if they swap my chassis. My title didn't match that bike but I knew it was mines. Only reason I let it go is because I created a family & wanted to change for the better. Trust & believe if i was still living for only me & in the HOOD, it would have been an article in the newspaper with me starring as main character. -

^^This is how I feel. some things are just priceless....& all the comments up here about not being worried about your things getting stolen.....keep your guard down because it only a amount of time before it's your turn to get ROBBED! Then you will feel the same feeling that all of us have felt & your reaction will be different. -
It's a waste of time & money IMO....As stated before take the hit & sell it. Then use that money to build you a fast ass banshee motor. The twin two stroke motor will be lighter & quicker than that motorcycle/banshee build. Everything varies...........You put that motorcycle back together & trade it for a bad ass banshee motor....then that will save some time, money & you will be even faster than the motorcylce/atv build. When keep mines at my house, I keep mines in my dog pen with my three pitulls...they will have to cut the chain off the sprocket hub & rear axle bearing carrier. Then open a whole side of the fence & defeat my three pits.....but if they want it bad enough they will get it. That's why I keep it at my main stash spot, so they will get shot trying to get it. So if i was you i would keep it at your parents house. -

Sorry for the double post -
yes I cooked two engines because of float height & the 1 psi. loss in 6mins. That was acceptable & still a small air leak... Yes I run my shee WOT throttle until it's almost maxed out then I back off to 3/4 throttle. I ride back roads, alot of long straights & wide open fields cause I live in the country. I sat down & thought about everything i did & didnt do. Then it clicked that last year when I was at busco my right carb was leaking fuel from the over flow drain tube. So I adjusted the right float by eye so it would stop leaking. I pushed the float tab up to much & it restricted the carb from getting the proper amount of fuel. So as long as i ride around about half throttle it would be fine, but at WOT & hard accleration the engine would run the right carb dry. Reason is because the float level was incorrect & not allowing the right float bowl to full properly. ANOTHER LESSON LEARNED

banshee motor die on right cylinders

I found out why my motor blew this time & the second time.....The carb on the right float level was incorrect & was running float bowl dry on the right side. Thanks for all the help & remember to set your floats to the correct height. -
