no....what specialblend is talkin about is when metal get excessively hot then cools then hot again then cools again (and so on) it begins to take on a kind of shiny bluish coloring. A little bit where the exhaust comes out of the motor is normal and acceptable....but i see what specialblends talkin about and if it is blue all the way up there then its a sign it may be running leaner than it should.

hey dirty.....im pretty sure he's talkin he taped his overflow tubes. hey balls......those cut lines that you taped up.....where the tubes running from your carbs towards the back of your shee? if they were i have a suspicion what you taped up was the carb overf-flow tubes which allow the carb to drain out small amounts of fuel if they become flooded......they also will flow out fuel if your carb floats are mis-adjusted or sticking from dirt inside of them. Order a clymers manual to your cousins house and tell him to get his ass to it....

winter upgrades and mods questions/opinions
Jereme6655 replied to shadowbanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Well what is your compression at? Alot of shops will tell you that its time for a rebuild just because its a 2-stroke adn your askin them to check it over. Get a good compression tester with the threaded end the same length as the spark plugs and rely on that. and get a clymer manual....it'll explain EVERYTHING that you need to fix anything on your shee. as far as the motor.....the sky is the limit for the shee... basically meaning you can make it as fast as you want...as long as you got the cash to do it. if your gonna keep it for trail riding and the occasional hare.....then i'd pull my cylinders and send them out to JEFF at FAST RACING and have him possibly bore it and get you new pistons along with doing some port work to REALLY open up that motors potential. and while your at it you might as well send him your stock crank and he can weld and true it to make sure it doesn't seperate when you start building more power with your shee. you can also get yourself some V-force 3 reeds to snap up your throttle response... AND DONT FORGET TO RE-JET!!! -
ya i know the feelin guys....been inches from the deer before.....hell its one thing if they are in the road when you tear around the corner....its another whole pant crapping situation when they just dart out in front of you haha. Speakin of which my buddy managed to ramp off of a deer on his 880 bigbore polaris sled..... the deer get spiked bad by all the studs he runs in his track....didn't make it.

do not get it. Trinity isn't known for its greatest quality parts.....or anything but selling junk. There are other ways to advance your timing. MOST shee's like about 4 degrees of timing advance....but some like a little more or a little less. with an adjustable plate you can go from +8 to -8. with a pre-programmed box you cant adjust where the timing is set at. and if you'd rather not spend the $50 for the plate then you can just get a +4 woodruf key that will advance your timing. but either way the timing plate is by far the best idea.

switch the plug wires around and see if the left cylinder drops off... then let us know

you DO NOT want to shut down your banshee by turning the fuel off. You dont' wanna do that cause you are in essence running the bike without oil as it is mixed in with the gas....so basically your rings are scrapin the cylinders without proper lube. PLUS a 2-stroke will "run-away" (ie begin to hi-rev) as it starves for fuel....which can lead to a whole shit ton of other problems..... my advice would be to keep shuttin it down by using the key switch or at worse by pulling the choke knob all the way out.

on a almost stock motor running race fuel will actually bring down your preformance. Not sure what you know about fuels so don 't freak out if you already know this.....but higher octane fuel actually has a more controlled SLOWER burn. You don't need to run race fuel unless your compression is really high. and No.....running a high octane fuel does not make your quad run faster.

get yourself a compresion tester with the threaded end as long as the spark plug threads and check the compresion. low compression can do some interesting things to a bikes symptoms. hell ive seen dirtbikes that run pretty damn good once their running and warmed up......but needed to be pull started just to get enough compresion to start it.

Bad gas and she sounds liek she may be pissed off and on the rag cause you haven't beaten on her in awhile.....throw some new gas in her and let her rip.
-
you can just unplug the little black box that is under the gas tank on the left side of the shee (if your sitting on it) and unplug the connectors from the TORS units themselves too....and you'll be good to go.

huge banshee issue - need hectic help please
Jereme6655 replied to thebrittishguy's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
not trying to undermind you.....but are you doing the compresion test right? have you pulled your exhaust off and made sure the exhaust and the carb holes are sealing up correctly? IF they are.....then you have a really bad air-leak.....this is PROBABLY why your banshee felt like it was runnin super strong...cause it was leanin itself out... best bet would be to do a 2nd and then a 3rd leakdown test just to make sure that your getting an accurate test. -
nope....you only bore out the cylinder walls themselves. The best way to do it is to take your cylinders to a shop and have them mic the bore. Then they can tell you what the correct up-sized pistons to buy........most of us here will advise you to purchase wiesco pistons as they are some of the best. THEN BEFORE they bore it.....take them the pistons. This way they can exactly mic the new pistons and then actually bore the cylinders to the correct size. ALSO make sure that they have the knowledge to chamfer the ports so the rings don't snag and break.

bogging after i installed K&N filter help
Jereme6655 replied to banshee954's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
no your not WAY off base....you are running aftermarket performance pipes so you would need to jump up more jet sized cause of that. BUT that does sound like your runnin too big of main jets......however your elevation could be playin a big part of that too... -
help! washed my banshee, now it wont start
Jereme6655 replied to wrx600rr's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
is it a stock bike you have or no? if they are stock carbs have you made sure that you put back the choke tube that goes between the two carbs? how about the tors....have you tried disconnecting it? we need a little bit more info on your bike to make a good judgement call on what the problem could really be.. -
ok so when you two crossed the finish line were you keeping up with him......like as in were you two going roughly the same speed but he was 2 bikes ahead? or was he still pulling away from you hard when you crossed the finish line? is he a smaller guy than you? what mods do you have? and what did he have? if you were goin roughly the same speed but he got you outta the hole then setup can DEFINTAELY help you with that...

try swapping the plug wires first to see if it kills the right cylinder..... -
bills silencer with spark arrestor or not
Jereme6655 replied to dirtbike drew's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
easiest way to check for a spark arrester is the same way the DNR or COPS will check it.....grab a twig about a foot long and try and insert it into the silencer......if its got spark arrestors in it the twig shouldn't go in more than say 6 inches before it is stopped by the screen -
I need help getting my banshee working properly.
Jereme6655 replied to Gummie_guy's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
your stumble could be caused by the pilot jet in your carbs. if you pull a carb off again and take the float bowl off to access the main jet....there will be a small circle hole with a tiny jet way down inside of it. get yourself a small flathead screwdriver and take it out. since your running a fmf fatty it should be jetted up to a 27.5 or a 30......25 is stock and with aftermarket pipes can cause a low speed bog -
go to a marine store and buy Marine 1. Its expensive but it will literally clean ANYTHING. it comes by the gallon and is concentrated.....we use it to clean blueberry bird shit stains off of boats. The stains will not come off easily without this stuff.....and its literally seconds before the stain and stuff is gone. Works the same on grease and oil. And when we use it we actually dilute it 4:1......so after dilution it winds up being about the same $ as degreasers

depends what your looking for.....TrailTech makes a few different models of digital dashes. Alot of people on here run the Vapor as do i....works like a champ. They also sell cheaper mdoels...

like the guys said....you need to rejet. your running super lean at the top end rpms. your goign to need to change your main jet size a few up since your motor is now less restricted from sucking air -

is the choke tube in place? what mods does your bike have? what jets are in the bike now and what elevation are you running at?
