I just got the brackets in the mail today. So with the holidays coming up, its going to put alittle bit of a hault to this. But the next free day I get, I will get the coil mounted. My LS1 is currently getting tuned, and it puked a ring gear on the dyno. So once that is out of Ryans shop and tuned, the Banshee will be going in.

What about the Chariot Thumb Throttle? http://www.ebay.com/itm/280724648948?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Your right. I guess I never looked at it that way....but yea I do see where you all are coming from at that aspect.

Also, anyone that is getting their panties all balled up, you need to take a step back and think about it. You have no ties to this. Im the one doing all the testing, and will try to give truthful honest feedback with graphs to back up claims. I didn't create the thread to get everyone pissed off, but rather to give the banshee community another alternative to an ignition setup. Possibly trying to teach old dogs new tricks? Now that being said, I talked with a Weapon X rep. He is running a Takai setup on his bike and said its hands down the best ignition system even over Weapon X, a company he WORKS for with no intentions of selling me on Takai. He said all the PRO riders that have had the opportunity to try a Takai setup said they have never returned to ignition system that had prior. Stayed tuned for the tests. I will be testing as soon as I receive the new mounting bracket.

Couldn't have said it any better. Thanks!

Just want to throw this out there.....they dont want anything grounded. They include nylon hardware to keep the coils away from any grounds. They said the coil will lose energy due to HV Corona Effect.
-
Must be in good condition. The rear plastics can be cut!!!

Cam that would be a great test, however I dont have any of the listed setups available. I know this is a long shot, but if someone wants to loan theirs out for testing, id be more than happy to thow it on mine....but im not going to front the costs for the setups for testing. I think we should compare apples to apples. The only thing im replacing are the coils. Maybe we should just stick with coils only to see what happens. I think a good test is the Stock vs Nology vs Takai as the stock and Nology setup is used by 90% of the community.
-
Yea the harness didn't have the right spade connectors. It was overlooked and noted and this is why its a trial setup before it becomes production.
-
I can do that test if it interests you. I can steal the Nology coil setup off my friends Banshee. I appreciate the feedback and the positive attitude.

Yes I will be doing back to back dyno tests from the stock coil to the Takai Coils They dont want the coils to be grounded to any metal. Nylon hardware is included so the coils dont lose energy by HV Corona effect. They are also wanting this kit to bolt up to factory frame for easy install, with no other brackets needed. I wasn't aware they signed up. Maybe they changed their mind? Im sure they will answer any questions that arrise, with diagrams to back their claims. Just be respectful which will keep the bashing to a minimum.

What is the difference between their dyno sheets to my dyno sheets? I know im one to believe a 2nd party dyno with back to back testing over a company throwing a number out to the consumer trying to promote their products like so many after market companys due these days, such as K&N, Edelbrock, MSD, etc, etc.....As I stated in my first post I have never found an ignition system to work better than a stock setup. But im keeping an open mind about this. All I ask is everyone else do the same. Also an update. Takai is probably going to be sending me another bracket to mount the coils vertical instead or horizontal.

I appreciate that this thread is not turning into a shit storm. I forwarded the link to Takai and they don't want to get involved and cause confrontation and turn the thread into something that it doesn't need to be, so they are going to stay neutral and let my testing do the talking to prove the nay sayers wrong. He did send me a diagram of stock coil polarity. Im not going to sit here and pretend to know anything about this diagram, because I dont. But never the less here it is.

Tyler gave the OK. So ill send Mark the link.

Larry, I will be doing back to back dyno comparison from Stock coil and NGK BR8ES and the Takai coils/plug setup.
-
Would you guys mind if he posts on here not being a sponsor to explain? Loco, what are your thoughts? If not its cool. I wont send Mark the link to respond until you guys give me the OK. Let me know. Im sure you guys will have more technical questions than I can answer.

Now remember im just quoting what the Engineer told me and that is, the Polarity of the coil is different on a single coil feeding two or more cylinders. Spark to one cylinder will be weaker than the other. A coil to plug setup is ideal, because each cylinder is getting the most possible spark.
-
Well I got the coils mocked up today. I used a JDS Customs Nology coil bracket that I had and modified it a bit to work with these coils. The wiring harness that they included is wrong. So I have to modift that in order for it to work as well. Other that that the install went smooth and it was rather quick and painless. I wasn't able to start it as I need some male spade connectors.

Flotek trail port here. The powerband is awsome

I paid 300 for two pair shipped to Matt @ So Cal. One set of triples and one double. Both with ressies. They can be had cheaper if you look hard enough.

Cam, Rumor has it if all goes as planned, they will be charging in upwards of $550 for this setup. Now one has to remember these are race/mx quality parts where money is no object and the best quality products are used, so keep that in the back of your head. Im skeptical when it comes to igntion systems. I have never found any aftermarket ignition system as "Better" than stock on any of my vehicles. Takai claims are high IMO and im going to put it to real world tests. I've talked to one of the engineers on the phone and he makes alot of sense when he talks about the advantages to run two coils compared to 1. I am hoping for good results with one main thing in general, and that is easier starts. I always foul a plug on my left cylinder if it sits for awhile, the engineer said its due to the single coil polarity, and that it changes from cylinder to cylinder and causes weaker spark in one over than the other. Anything else that it nets me is a bonus. So we will see, im no way promoting the product, just thought id share my journey in a cool opportunity that I have.

I was given the opportunity to test a new ignition setup from Takai. They produce products for MX bikes for racing applications. They have a system for the Banshee that they wanted to begin testing. So now I have one. I will be doing the install with pics and a full review on how it works. Its a two coil setup; one for each cylinder. I will throw up pics shortly. I will also be doing dyno comparison compared to stock coil setup.
