Welcome moosey,I would check the pick up gap, being the motor was just rebuilt.that's where I would start, but it doesn't rule out the ricky junk.

They are vf3, but a member already hooked me up with one.

I bought drag pipes for my 88 and the peg was almost an inch shorter,so I compared them to ones on my 01 model and switched them and the pipes bolted right up without the use of shims.

I noticed the foot pegs are a shorter on the j-arm bikes aswell.j

I called fast today and they told me they should fit on a newer model.

It was a considerable difference over stock. These were made by a company named denton about 4 years ago and now they are out of business,but stellar makes these kind of arms and you can't go wrong with them..
