  1. I think I messed up? Anything I can do Or do I need new cages now? looks like I gouged the rubber on the outside a bit, but the cam exadjurates it a littlle Other than that here they are, I hope I didnt screw it up too bad.
  2. I blended it the best I could that was my biggest mistake Never done this before though...Let me get some pictures of the finished cages. I spent about 5 hours including removing them from the bike
  3. Told Ya I would do it this weekend Im not sure what to do towards the center where the rubber still is? Should I make the endges sharp or hone them out? Besides that how does it look so far? Im going to start on the other one now.
  4. next thing you know he will be selling a link to the jetting faq
  5. I'd say definately keep the stock carbs for an all stock banshee.
  6. I just got mine (in RED) and im already glad I did not get my head milled. I put on 20cc domes since I plan to run 50/50 110/91 gas. The looks of the head alone are worth the extra cost IMO, but the extra cooling changable domes and O-rings seals are even more important. My compression with the 20cc domes is only 139-138PSI due to some port work I had done. Im wondering what size domes would be good to continue running 50/50 but raise my compression higher for this ratio of fuel. Since I can just change the domes its already saving me from sending my head back out to have it re-milled looks great! nice finish!
  7. I could only recomend places in San Diego so im not sure, I believe all you need to rebuild it is a torque wrench (that can torque accurate to 5lbs increments), and some feeler gauges for checking the ring gap (and the crank while your at it) + the appropriate gaskets. Its not as difficult as you might think.
  8. I broke mine in with yamalube 2-R (first tank-well almost I drained the reserve) then switched to castor 927.
  9. you guys are making me not want to buy any more castor 927, then again so many people say its good maybe ill stick with it
  10. me too but this year im going to gordons instead...I Would go the weekend after but with finals coming up etc it makes it harder, + I get a whole extra day at the dunes!
  11. I ran yamalube 32/1 for over 4 years before I rebuilt the top end. just make sure your jetted accordingly. My crank looked pretty good too, welded it up and stuck it back in with all the stock bearings.
  12. bolt on the stock one, remove the foam and apply Clear RTV silicon around it to seal it. Workign for going on 5 years now for me.
  13. thanks for all the info I may give this a shot, How would rooky porting on them liek I would probably end up with, compare to Deltra V-Force 2's?
  14. I have been using chain wax instead of oil. How much power can those little rings possibly take away?
  15. Ill be there thanksgiving night, Our group usualy camps near the kiddy burm...If you see my banshee next to an older tan Nissan 4x4 stop on by, otherwise will that sign be out there next week? My biggest concern is that I need that $90 permit and I won't be ariving till later at night and the station will probably be closed?
  16. why can't you lube it enough? I just threw an X-ring chain on for Sand Riding. My stock chain lasted me 4.5 years before I replaced it just now.
  17. what tools are needed for this? I have a dremel and sand paper. Im thinking about trying to do something like this but I need more info on how the reed cages work so I can understnad what Im trying to acomplish.
  18. Thanks Jim, Ill try 36 to 1 next time out, I still have a couple gallons from last weekend left over mixed 32 to 1 that ill burn off thanksgiving. Guess it won't hurt as I was just breakin in the engine anyways. IRide, did you ever finish that crazy 250R project you had going? All those toys and still no banshee? heh. how do you like the 450? Oh yea, gotta love that Icon too
  19. I just started using castor 927, but Im still waiting to hear some real resualts as to how it compairs to amsoil or MC1. I keep hearing synthetic is better...By everyone who runs synthetic and everyone who runs castor927 says its the best, I have no opinion and I don;t want to wait another 5 years to see how well it works either. Well i guess it is as good as yamalube 2R right? Also im running the castor 32 to 1 is this too much?
  20. What part of So Cal are you in? Are you near Santee or El Cajon?
  21. yea mine won't come off untill i take the main jet out. Maybe its just these jet im using? I dunno.
  22. Hey boonman On my stock carbs the plastic splash sheild IS held on by the main jet...???(2000 banshee) You don't have to removing anything, not even your plastics to cange the Jets. You don't have to remove the Carbs Tops (not even with the TORS) to change the Jets (just needle settigns) Removing the Lid allows more unrestricted air flow and leans the bike out, I prefer to run it this way. The way I do my jets is like this. 1) Remove all 6 clamps compleatly. 2) remove fuel tubing from carbs. (including the black line from the fuel tank) 3) Remove Carbs or boots (whichever is easier first) and choke tube 4) Undo the 4 screws that hold the bottem of the carb on. 5) replace jets (main jet holds the plastic splash sheild the notch the plastic inserts in is where the pilot jet is) 6) put it back together and stick carb into the reed hose thing, making sure its aligned with the notch 7) work boot back over carb and airbox (check to make sure its seated perfectly) 8) re-install hose clamps (make sure the notch is aligned with the notch on the reed hose things (not sure what they are called ) 9) re-attach choke cable 10) re-attach all fuel lines *note: It will be easier to istall the boots if the air box is removed but takign off plastics just for this is a Pain also. The TORS cable should be long enough to allow you to work on the carb without removing the top. Be careful not to lose the washer that is on the other side of the splash sheild, same goes for the Jesus clip on the needle if your moving the needle. Also take your time and be patient, the room for working on it is tight, but it is possible to do it this way.
  23. 1 important mod to go with a new banshee, Get rid of the crappy air filter or you will be replacing your topend after your first few rides after it falls off/ sucks in dirt etc...Insurance is expensive, something liek $800 a year for people udnder 25 here in CA. In other words, If I would have paid for insurance I would also be out $4000 in insurance money by this time, which is nearly enough to buy a new quad anyways
