  1. I agree, unless your trying to run more than one thing of the new circuit, then you should go with a battery so as not to put too much drain on the cap...
  2. yes, yes, yes, and sand drags near gecko road. Also higher camping permit fees this year. Don't bring glass bottles, and make sure your quad is registered, they have a tendency to stop everyone on the way in and check on large weekends.
  3. Im going to Gordons Thursday night (Late) or friday morning (early) I'm camping with a group but I doubt they would care if one more joined. There are some children in our group and a couple dune buggys but we like to go on lots of rides. I have a tan nissan truck and a red white and blue banshee. A picture of my truck and shee (Banshee looks a bit differnet now) We usualy camp near the kiddy track in the middle we have motorhomes, tents, a red rail for sure. But Like I said I won't arrive untill thursday night or friday so you will probably be there already, if not Im in El cajon and you could follow us out. So let me know.
  4. I think straight distileld mixed with water wetter will give the best cooling results, however even that is too risky for me. Go buy some coolanol and mix in some water wetter for good results. Or otherwise maybe some coolant called engine ice. Im experimenting with it right now to see how it compares to coolanol + water wetter, its supposed to be better. Tap water is really bad though, low boiling point + corrosion. Drain that crap out and get some decent coolant.
  5. I'm still a sand skate II's fan. Lightweight for a molded tire. Im interested in those new ITP Sand Starts though, I might get those instead next time, but I already know the Skate II's are nice.
  6. The tors are the weird tops to the carbs with the cables running into them. typicaly you can adjust the slides hiegth useing the 2 knobs on the airbox side of the carb tops, there is also a pilot screw that must also be adjusted. But that has nothing to do whith getting new pipes, it has to do with adjusting to the new jetting inside your carbs. New pipes requre re-jetting, its a pain but very worth it, and its something you should learn to do on the banshee anyways. This means changing your needle pilot jet and main jet settings.
  7. what they do is make fake websites then you submit your information, they steal your account and make fake posts. So be careful when responding to emails asking information for ebay
  8. Air filter, Pipes, Headlights...? (Porting and polish, larger carbs for the porting port stock reed cages) adjustable timing plate. Paddle tires for sand, Oh wait you said heavily moded, better add a couple more things... Longer A-arms with new shocks up front extended swingarm for the back, wider axle for the rear. The list goes on forever...It depends what you want at first though, better handeling or more speed. You need to get the silencers with the pipes but there is no muffler just a silencer. if your serious about engine work go with CPI's T5's or Fatts over the T6's or SST's the T6's and SST's are designed mroe around the stock engine. Of course its probably fast enough untill you lean how to ride it, even stock...just make sure you get a K&N with an outerwear, or a UNI foam filter, the stock one is a POS and can cost you your new bike. Good filter, Pipes, and Proper Jetting are the best first mods IMO.
  9. Just live at home for another 10 years and keep riding lol
  10. I would head past gecko and take a right right after the store (before the train tracks) Head down as far as you need to on the dirt road, and then find a place. just cause Gecko road is going to be jam packed and the sand is really soft right off the road. The washes are still sandy but aren't as soft or sloped like off gecko road. Its a farther drive to the sand drags though, but your much closer to china wall, and a road to olds. Only problem is it might be a dust pit, but the whole palce probably will be for that matter.
  11. Just curious if I was able to make it, about how far is this from San Diego-El Cajon? About how many jet sizes should I go up from riding at glamis? about 2? Looking for some new places to ride, but gas is expensive on a long drive pulling a shee in my old truck.
  12. So its fast on flat out drag strips but what about Sand Drags up hills like Old's or china wall? Is the 700 quick enough to throw a roost and get right on top end a couple feet in front of a large hill? Just curious, cause thats the type of stuff I bought my Shee for.
  13. I ride double often on mine without any problems so far, Just heats up a little more than when im on it alone.
  14. Those 2 big knobs are not for syncing the carbs, those are for adjusting the idle. To sync the carbs, you only use the left side carb. There are 2 nuts that the cable runs through, the big one is for holding, the little one is the one you turn to adjust the slide height. Clymers says never to adjust the right carb. thanks, one qeustion then. Is the window on the carb for adjusting the idle or to sync them up? They seem to be even for idle adjustments but the mark is not appearing in the left carb window as it is int he middle on the right. Im guessing maybe its because they are not in sync, Just curious what the mark in the window is for exactly so I can get this overwith as painlessly as possible
  15. I hear now that the adjustment is where the cable goes into the TORS, so Im going to look it over when I get home (hopefully tonight before it gets freezing cold).....
  16. A voltage rectifire and a small capacitor to help stabalize the current should only cost a couple $$ to charge a battery. I'm not sure the cap would even be needed.
  17. Well I used the 2 knobs on the TORS to adjust the slides to be in the same position at idle, trouble is when I start to give it gas the left slide always pulls up before the right so when the left is fully open the right slide still has about 1-2mm to go...It's not horribly out of wack but I'd like to fix it this week before I go riding. The knobs on the TORS do not work for this adjustment.???? (They lower and raise the carb at idle but I can't figure out how to get the left side to pull at the same time as the right side. I may be doing something wrong so let me know what) thanks,
  18. you were right jim, my pilot jet was plugged (1 tiny grain of sand). I Think the reeds will be fine. Hopefully the porting I did will help out some. Although I know I really just need new carbs...
  19. sounds like snake oil to me, but if someone says it works that would be cool.
  20. Hey guys Im having some trouble with by banshee now. I guess my porting sucks or else the ding is really causing problems. One of my pipe is shooting out hot air and the other cold. One pipe is hot the other is not, Both seem to fire though, could this be due to the small ding in the reeds? damn I feel stupid for trying this now.
  21. I always use rubbing alcahol to clean computer parts and I have never had any trouble.
  22. Ben, just that little ding. I just hope I didn't make the reeds worse than they were before i tried to port them I spent alot of time on the insides, only to ding the rubber with a file Like I said this is my first time porting anything...Looks like I'll just have to buy V-force reeds over the summer I don't think I want to wast anymore money on stock ones.
  23. yep notice to the left the reed's corner is cut, and the metal plate that bolts over it is shaped different on one side than the other...Does these things have to match up a certain way or anything?
  24. whew Ill have to do a compression check and make sure its not losing compression now right? Also About getting the reed's back on the cages, I notice one side on the reed is cut, and one side on the metal part that bolts onto the cage is cut...Do they have to be put together a certain way?
  25. hey Jim, am I screwed or what? Did I just destroy these then?
