Posted about this several months ago when I saw it at the sand sports supershow and was looking for a new shock. http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...=67085&st=0 Ebay guy has a decent price, a little cheaper than what Alba was asking a few months ago at the show. I have to wonder if they will get the rear shocked specificaly valved for you though... I ended up just getting my shock rebuilt by percision concepts but it still has the TCS valving and eibach spring. I ran out of cash for this thing... I think it might be worth getting if you plan on replacing your rear shock. I trashed my TCS rebuilt shock in less than a year and got seriously hurt when I poped the back end of the bike over the front. They told me it's typical to have to have the shock rebuilt 2 times a year (but I only ride a few months out of the year). Maybe teh elka shock could go a little longer than a season for me. I did hit some kinda witcehes eye on the flats, came out of nowhere, everyone hit it, but I hit the wrost part of it with a blown rear shock and the bike went end over end. I think it would be worth it, but I'm happy with my rebuild and hope it will last longer than a few trips to the dunes this time.

I had the same problem, but i was not from detonation (althouh in your case it might be). My problem was that one of the domes in the head was milled 1/1000th of an inch off which was slightly bouncing it around in the head and backing the plug out. When you pull the head check to see if you can see any marks between the dome and head. (although even if there is at this point it could be from blowing it up)... Good luck.

JKJK, I'm digging the metalcast(!?) water pump cover! Looks jsut like mine. Nice work on the polishing.

Welds are good, chrome is holding up well. Basic swingarm design with aircraft quality welds. Not bad for the price. I think he warranties them as well but you should call and ask. it took a long time to get mine because he was having problems with chromer but I believe everything is squared away now. Service is good, and Gary if fun to talk to. The only thing I did not like is the non metric bolts to lock the carrier in place, that and the fact that I can't get my gearwrench closed end around the nut due to the position. I guess I could change them to Metric bolts myself heh. I'm very picky and theres alot of crappy products made for banshees as I have found out the hardway. This is not one of them. It also survived my crash without any damage, although I had to replace the frame..... If you want to see pics you can lookup my rebuild in the pics section.

I thought the crossover tube was to help the bike idle if your carbs are out of sync? The Boost Bottle is basicaly a shiny crossover tube that can rack your rubber manifold.

Really I'm finding that even the 200 watt upgrade is not enouh power No problems with my new stator, but his older version did cause some break up at high RPM's on "some" ported bikes. Mine was one of them, I sent it back and he gave me the new version for free. Thats good service in my book.

I just saw a pair in San Addiction Mag, and I'm thinking to try them as well, Seems like they would be a bit easier to shift in as well as hang out at camp in them. In fact I came on here to make a post about them but found yours.

Who needs a watch when you have a cell phone?

I don't think I will get either, I usualy spend a fortune on these systems then they end up playing DVD's or something or just sitting on a shelf collecting dust and taking up space. Who has the time to play video games anyways? I hardly ever even use my PSP! I'll stick with computer games I guess. Plus I just bought a 1080i TV a little over a year ago when 1080p was not even out. As it is hardly any stations are broadcast in 1080i or 720p. They could never even decide on a standard. Supposedly when I boguht the POS Sony TV everyone was going to need a new cable box because the HD switch was supposed to happen in 06. Well it still has not happened and my cable looks as shitty as ever...

I'll have to give that a shot, I think the ancient motor still has some nice power to it, I just need to find a bolt that fits the shaft, Home Depo did not seem to carry it and I don't know what size it is since it is at my parents house I was actualy thinking to use 2 together, the second wheel would probably clean the compund off better than a single and give you more surface area to work with. Right now my wheel is all the way on the inside of the shaft because I can't find a stupid nut (PITA)

after rinsing the paint stripper off be sure to WD-40 the inside of the cylinder fast!

Well I killed the battery several times when I first got the HID's and was trying to get my LED's workign with them. May have damaged the battery, maybe not. I replaced it with a fresh one and took some pics (they are at home) to give you some ideas. I'm probably going to change to a more powerful battery.

EZ Pull clutch lever w/parking brake?
Justintoxicated replied to Bubba_wrx's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Parking Break only causes problems get a block off plate instead. -
On the Banshee, when something breaks, you replace it with something better. So no purpose in buying a warranty!
-
yea replace them.

My Battery took a shit last weekend and I pulled into camp with only 2 of the MR16's on, soon as I stopped to idle one more went out....... I have killed my battery a few times before so it's probably just shot...I' thinking about upgrading to one of these. It's still tiny and fairly light but is a much better battery both deep cycle and high output... http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/pc310.htm other options will add at least 12 lbs to the bike... I can't decide. I have some pics I will post them in the other thread if I find some time, maybe get some better pictures this weekend. Wow dune review used the Osram IR bulbs I was talking about for the longest time. Haha!

banshee carbs problem or something else
Justintoxicated replied to dmakarov's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
crossover tube is missing between the 2 stock carbs? Have you adjusted the idle? -
For the buffing wheel is it better to use soft firm or what? I don't have the most ideal setup but it works. I use an old motor with a shaft built in 1918 or 1916 (I can't remember) but it gets the job done and my dad said he got it at a garage sale for like $5. Only used it with a soft wheel that didn't last too long. Last time at Home Depo they only had Firm so I picked one up but I have not tried it yet. I used white rouge and it worked great.

Not much point in boring out a 2 stroke motor, better to get it ported.
-
I saw them at alba, they do look good. But I went with fullbores and the chromed cover
-
Chrome is eitehr copper then nickle then chrome, or jsut nickle then chrome (cheaper but not as shiny). you would not want to run just copper plating, it would tarnish and scratch off very easy. The copper is used because it creates a nice smooth base, the nickle is used to make the chrome stick to the pipes AFAIK. My Old Fattys were nickle plated, they will shine nice for a while, but have to be polished quite frequently. Might as well just buy some chrome pipes and sell what you have IMO, you would probably be much happier, and money better spent.

**More grip from stock pegs**
Justintoxicated replied to ClimbAnyHill's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I was thiking about doing the same thing to my double pegs, but those stainless IMS pegs sure are pretty. -
help me befor i get my gun!
Justintoxicated replied to bansheeman1974's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
What kind of piston is that? What kind of motor do you have? stock ported or stroker? What Crank do you have? Looks like it was rubbing the cylinder wall but was that the cause or effect? Serious Piston slap? Maybe a coolant leak in the head? Was your bike running fine and then bag? Was there any white smoke / coolant coming out of the pipes when you fired it up? Was it hard to start? What does the head look like? But I'm not really the kind of person to ask about these things. Did you forget to mix oil in your gas? That shit does not look good. -
I believe I can get a stock kicker for about $70-80...No way I'm going to lay down another 100-160 on top of that (alba has 2 on their website) not to mention I already had holyman mod this kicker, and I have had problems with the splines ever since (never fit back on the splines quite right I wonder if I got my own kick starter back or someone elses?) Thats a ridiculous amount of money for a new kick starter thats at least $200! I got my whole new frame for $500 Yesh... And the splines still won't be any better than the one I have now origionaly had...
