  1. Hey guys, what are you running for mains and needle, I have all the mods below, and I am running a 140 main @ 5000 feet. I still cant get it to scream up top. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  2. maybe richen up the needle one step.
  3. Jbooker82, thanks for the pictures, and advice on mounting the CPI's, I really like how yours is setup, makes me lean towards CPI. Dont want to give up all the mid by going with shearers. Sweet looking Banshee bye the way.
  4. How would you rate the fit and finish of your CPI's? Do your stingers rub on your carbs or your pods? what about accesing your plugs petcock? I think I would perfer the power of the CPI's to Shearers, but also want a good fit.
  5. I have run ITP sand stars on a 10 inch wheel, and they are NOT a good choice if you want to give yourself the best chance at beating your cousin. 21 inch, 8 paddle haulers on a 8 inch wheel would be a great choice, spend the extra money and get the "bead to bead buff" if you can. Proper choice of paddle can be the difference between winning and losing, if everything else is close. Sell those to your cousin for a good price, he will think you are doing him a favor, then, when you smoke him, shrug your shoulders and grin.
  6. Let us know how it works out, I am trying to decide between CPI's and Shearer's right now. I have heard that the CPI's don't fit as well as the shearer's do, that is something to consider as well.
  7. I just went down the road you are starting on. I had Kevin do a 4mil crank and the dune/hill-shoot port, on stock carbs. The engine ran great, except for in one area. While climbing steep dunes (choke cherry), the bowls would start to run out of gas, and the engine would pop and crackle. I went to 35mm pwk's, and that eliminated the problem. I do have to say this, I was expecting another noticeable increase in power with the new carbs, and so far cant really say I have felt it.
  8. I have the cel needles on a 4mil dune port. 5000ft
  9. I have some pods and filters I bought 2 weeks ago brand new. PM me if you are interested in buying them.
  10. Right now I am running T5's, I think new pipes are next in line. I only ride dunes, shoot bowls and race the hill. I dont know what would be best for my setup, CPI's or Shear's?
  11. Hi guys, I am waiting for my Keihin 35 mm PWK Air Strikers to arrive, I am just curious, what type of performance gains can I expect with the mods below? My friend says there wont be much of a gain. What are your thoughts? Thanks.
  12. A Clymer manual can explain all of it in detail, except the case trenching for the 7 mil. I would have a builder do that. I just put a 4 mil crank in mine, it was pretty easy, pull the engine out, the case splits from top to bottom, pull old crank out, drop new one in. The 4 mil doesn't require any trenching.
  13. I ran 280's with the mods below @ 5000 ft, temps as low as 55 degrees. I think you are lean.
  14. You have peaked my curiosity, could you describe the power you are talking about? Thanks.
  15. Snop, what setup do you have for sand? I am running ITP C series sport wheel on all four, with skat trak 8 paddle haulers on the rear, which is a 10 inch wheel. it seems really heavy and hard to turn.
  16. I would go up on your mains, I ran 280's @ 5000 ft, with t5's, V3 reeds, pods,+4 timing.
  17. That is the setup I have run, only with 20 cc domes. It ran great on 91 octane at 5000 feet in St. Athony dunes.
  18. Hey guys, will pro design o-rings work on a noss cool head?
  19. I wanted to thank everyone for their input, I didn't understand the importance of a leak down test, now I do. I will do it before I ride. Thanks.
  20. Thanks guys, why is the leakdown so important? If I have an airleak, wont it show up in the idle? Also, just started it and found out I am leaking coolant from my noss cool head, is there a good place to get the O-rings for cheap?
  21. Quick question guys, I just installed my cylinders, and used a little permatex ultimate grey on top of the base gasket. Do I need to let the engine sit for 24 hours before I can ride it? Thanks.
  22. Hey Guys, I just got my new crank, ported cylinders, and case back from HJR. Is there anything I should lookout for, or be aware of when reassembling the cases? I have read the section in the Clymer manual, but wanted to ask the guys who do this all the time. Thanks.
