  1. I got the 35's thinking I might go to a cub someday.
  2. Snop, can you explain "durations" to me? I have yet to dyno my banshee, so no help there. I will say this, I was expecting more of an increase when I put the 35's on, I cant even say I felt a noticeable increase. Thanks.
  3. Snop, do you think the 35's are overkill in my situation? If so, why?
  4. What are you running for fuel? I am at 5000 ft, and would be thrilled to dyno with those numbers. I'm impressed.
  5. You have to buy a new crank anyway, do the 4mil, you will reget it if you dont.
  6. Well your right about the 450's being a "large investment, little return item". I put allot of money into my YFZ, cracking pistons, cracking cylinders. I put less money into my banshee, and I am MUCH faster than my YFZ. I think porting is the only way he is going to consistently beat this YFZ, that is my experience.
  7. We need to know what elevation you ride at, and what the average temp is. What is the needle set at? Do you have pods or the stock air box? These are all part of the equation. I feel confident in saying you should not go any leaner though.
  8. I don't know about that BigRed, my 480 YFZ was about 3-4 bike lengths faster up choke than my +4 timing, 20cc dome, V3 reeds, with Pods, T5 Banshee. I think it is going to take more than +4 timing.
  9. I had this same problem when I rebuilt my carbs, you need to switch the bowls on the carbs, they are NOT identical. One has a small round thing, almost the shape of a BB on the front of it.
  10. I was going to weld mine, then I thought, why go through all the work to pull the engine, and split the case just to put the stock welded crank back in??? When I can put a BRAND NEW Hot rods 4mil crank in for a little over 400 bucks! And after I sold my stock crank on ebay for 120 bucks, the net cost of the 4mil was about 300. New crank and allot more power, that's what I would do!!
  11. I have a couple of thoughts, Maybe you are thinking cheetah because you want something that is still wicked fast, just in case someone wants to drag race, or you hit a long stretch, and maybe you don't believe the 4mill ported jugs are going to be much faster than what you have. If this is the case, you will be shocked to feel the difference between what you have now, and the 4mil. I feel confident in saying that the 4mil will blow you away, and most comers who want to race. The other thing is fuel consumption, do you go on long trail rides? I noticed a big difference in range after I built my 4mil, I am sure it would only get worse if it were a 421 cub.
  12. This is great info guys, all stuff I was wondering about as well, but could never find the maker of the cheetah cylinders. Who makes the Twister, and what is the website? Thanks to everyone!
  13. Great, thanks for the info guys, I will call Jeff when it starts to warm up.
  14. Who makes this "EZ pull clutch perch", and where can I find one? Thanks.
  15. Shearer inframe exhaust, skat-trak tires on wheels, are all things I will be looking to get soon.
  16. I don't understand "read the heat the plug is making if your not getting color" Would you explain please?
  17. 290's are definitely lean!! I ran 280's @ 5000 feet unported.
  18. Hey Bugnut, sorry to get off topic, but do you run that cub down here at St. Anthony? I wonder if I have seen you before?
  19. Your CEL's on the 2nd sounds lean to me, I have the mods below, run @ 5000 feet, and I have tried CEL's on both 2nd and 3rd, the 3rd ran better. I am sure you have more need for fuel than me too. Something else to consider, my builder says he uses a smaller needle on the bigger motor's, like 421 cubs. Maybe check into a smaller needle.
  20. From what I have been told, if you are thinking about getting the cylinders ported, or even better, going to a cub, you need to reinforce the crank, otherwise, you are prone to losing the crank. So, if reliability is a priority, you need to consider reinforcing the crank. I just went through all of this, and I am glad I have the peace of mind with a hot rods crank. I just did the mods below, and the only four strokes that beat me are purpose built Raptors, and 450's on the bottle.
  21. Try checking your stator with a multimeter, the instructions are in the FAQ's. I am running 140 mains @ 5000 feet, and it feels incredible, temps are as low as 50 degrees. I think you need more octane, I am running about 175 psi, and run straight av gas. make sure your spark plug gas is about .025, and try some new plugs. I came from stock stroke non ported too where I am now, and the difference is day and night.
  22. Kevin, I re-gaped the plugs, tested the stator, it was fine, and moved the pickup for the stator closer to the flywheel, it might have been a little to far away. The engine ran great on top, However, I dint know if any of those adjustments helped, I say this because it was about 15 degrees cooler than when I first ran the 140's. So, was it the cooler temps making the jetting work, or the other stuff I did? thanks for the link Savage.
