vortechblown306 replied to vortechblown306's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Thanks for the info! Does anyone do this for a living that knows for a fact? -
Just like the title says. I have an Innovate LM-1 wideband and I was going to do my own tune job with this. Let me know if its feesable.

No I dont have thin skin. I am not here to have someone post bullshit that doesnt pertain to the question. I am asking a question for advise. Why should there be a need for rattling at all? I have never messed with a 2 stroke. I was searching through the forum and seen where people have done it. Just wondering how reliable this is. -

Do I need to mess with the Carbs?
vortechblown306 replied to vortechblown306's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
And the motors are about the same except the domes! Same v force reeds but this new one had drag pipes with dg silencers and I have full fmf. I will answer all the specs if we need to add more! Thanks -

Thanks but I just bought a motor for $750 with Mikuni carbs, cool head, vito power pistons, hotrods crank, new clutches, just about everything I need! It has very low hours on it! -
Do I need to mess with the Carbs?
vortechblown306 replied to vortechblown306's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I forgot to mention that I have no idea what the jets are in either one of the 2 sets carbs. I also have a Innovate LM-1 wideband air/fuel ratio datalogging kit for a car. If I stuck the o2 sensor in each different pipe is it supposed to be like 14:1 like a car or what would it be? I have some cool tools from drag racing mustangs but I am unsure of how 2stroke's work. -
Basically I bought a complete motor with the carbs and all!! I was wondering I am at 700 above sea level and the motor was about 2000 above sea level. Do I even need to mess with this at all? The highest around me is like 1000 above sea level. Or should I just use my carbs that it had on before the Keihin since I am using my same FMF full pipe setup and snorkle airbox and kn filter? The old motor blew up and had a hole in the piston so I dont know if it was caused from the carbs or not? I dont know any information will help! Thanks Shawn

So how the fuck did I pick up a 2003 banshee for $300? I thought cheap and banshee dont get along. Shove your shit up your asses!!! -
Well I am not 100% sure about the motor just my .02 sounds better than yours. For one I dont know if the tranny is good it goes in every gear but who knows, I dont know if the crank is good. It needs bored over and piston kit, new domes, maybe new carbs but i doubt it. You know all that is going to run about $500 in LABOR. NOT PARTS parts is $350 for a crank, $200 for piston kit, $70 for domes, and $170 for a tranny. for a grand total of $1290 and who knows if I just flush the motor out the best I can possibly do put $300 into a new bore and piston kit and $70 for the domes well then its a good deal that someone is going to get if it is all right. So $1290 in something that I dont know much about seems pricy. I thought about doing it all and keeping it but I just want to get it on the rode. Thats my .02

Well it just looks like a pain in the ass! I am not a technical kind of guy our moto is pft for a bolt. Pretty fucking tight lol. I dont use a torque wrench but I can get one and do it all the right way. It just seems like what if the crank is bad and the tranny is shot. I will have 1700 in rebuilding a p.o.s. lol when I can buy a used motor for $700-$1100. I am by far no hot shot racer so all I want to do is pop wheelies like I did on my old 250r and tear the shit out of the woods!! How much do you think I could get out of the complete motor with a shot piston like that? I am thinkin about flushing the shit really good putting a piston kit and bore it and sell it like that! I mean how messed up could it be I couldnt see any scratches at all on the crank. I just would like someones opinion that has done it before. XxMeltIcexX How much did you want for that motor? How many hours? Can it run off 93? Pm me more info! I have cash in hand and paypal is ready to go too. I am about to buy a motor within the next day. Shawn

Yes I did download the manual! I also was wondering what do you clean it with? Does it need to be in a dunk tank? I have heard of people tipping the bike over and using parts cleaner and some other stuff and dumping it out. Is that a good enough fix or what I dont want have to do more than what I need to to get this running. Thanks for the info!! Shawn -

So I probably cant get away with using kerosene and tipping the bike over and dumping it out or letting it drain out of drain plug? I dont know I just want to go the cheapest way. -

Another thing there was shavings on the edge of the carbs do you think they are still good? How would I clean it to make sure everything is out? -
I bought this banshee and the guy doesnt know where the paper work is for it. It is supposed to have a racing crank in it. How could I tell from the crank or the pistons what kind of pistons I need to buy. Anouther thing is I have shavings in the bottom of the lower 1/2 How much does it usually run for a shop to clean this out? I will have the motor pulled. How hard is it to do it yourself? I downloaded the clymers manual! Also how hard is it to have the crank checked with it? I dont want alot of money into this motor because it is just as easy to buy a motor from someone that is already built. But if I fix it I want it to be good for awhile. Here are some pictures of the piston. The jugs are off now but this is when they were on.
