  1. Have you tried soaking it in penetrating oil? PB-Blaster has worked wonders for me throughout the years.
  2. The only thing that I can see gaining out of it is, it would make a nice sleeper setup. I know you can shave them to get the compression ratio that you want, but machining would at least let you change compressions.
  3. Never thought I'd see someone else on here use that shit.
  4. If it's knocking on the water pump side, and you think more backpressure is coming out of the exhaust on the right, something probably happened to the left side. Do a compression test. Might be time for a top end.
  5. I also had that problem a couple times. First time, the carbs were outta sync. The other time, the secondary jet was clogged on the left carb. A torch tip cleaner works good for cleaning trash out of jets.
  6. You can't put these two in the same category. If you're looking for some bottom, I would go with a 2-1 setup. DMC 916's seem to be nice, and sound sick, if that's what you're looking for.
  7. Suspension is one of the best upgrades that you can do to a Banshee. Like MJ said, if you're gonna get some top of the line shocks, you need to compliment them with some good chromoly a-arms.
  8. I have a +6 on mine. I ride absolutely nothing but trails. The trails that I ride are very wide, and very fast though. I like it because there are alot of steep hills where I ride. I don't have any problems with turning neither. You get the hang of having that long ass swingarm, and learn how to whip the bike through turns. To be quite honest with you, I like being able to sling it because I can keep my momentum through turns. Tight turns have never been an issue neither for me. You gotta slow down, no matter how long you swinger is. I wouldn't go with anything else on my bike, for the riding that I do. If the trails that you ride are mostly tight trails and no steep hills and depending on your aggressiveness, then I would keep it stock length or no more than +2.
  9. Well, I hate to say it. That's what you get for not wearing a helmet. Take all that shit as an omen. Maybe it was best for you to sit the day out.
  10. First of all, welcome to the HQ. My brother has a 2008 z400, that he keeps in my garage. Compared to a Banshee, they're junk. Things you're gonna need to check for, is crack in the frame or suspension parts, cancerous rust, or pretty much just any obvious stuff. Check the air filter(s), if he still has them. That's how you find out how well a person takes care of their bike. Transmission oil too, but that's probably been emptied. I think you'll be happier with it, over your RM. Dirtbikes are fun, but you can get real crazy on a 4 wheeler. Makes it more fun. J-arms can be upgraded to a-arms. Some people like the j-arms. From the pics (kinda distorted), it looks like you could potentially have a real nice bike. Good luck with your trade. If you hang around on here, you're gonna want to start spending lots of money on that thing for mods.
  11. Stick a stethoscope on it. If you don't have one, use a long 3/8" socket extension, and stick it in your ear. Put it all over the motor until you find it. My motor started making a loud knocking noise, when the engine was fresh. Mine is coming from the intake. Not the carbs, reeds, lower end, or top end, but the intake manifold. I ride the piss out of it like that. Can't figure out why it does that.
  12. I'm a huge fan of my Ingersol-Rand, 1/2" drive, 650ft/lb impact. Hold it with your hand and hit one time, and you're done.
  13. See what I mean......Too much for my brain to process. All that rambling, and I totally missed that. I give it to him though. Good concept.
  14. Damn Badapwned, that's way too much for my brain to process. lol. Never seen anything like that happen. But then again, look where I live. Mid-Atlantic and close to the ocean. Air temps are usually not that cold.
  15. Jeff at FAST gave me a good deal on them. The filters have a 15* angle on them, so they sit flat. I think I paid like $75-80 for them and K&N spray oil, to the door.
  16. Damn, hard to believe that I cut off more than 2 pounds worth of mounting tabs.
  17. That's what I meant. I need big bore domes. Thanks anyways.
  18. Doesn't NOSS use Pro-Design Domes? They small bore or big bore?
  19. Yea, didn't think about how many of you guys ride in different elevations. I ride anywhere from sea level to 50'asl. So mine works out good, where it is.
