so i drilled out my billet gas cap from 1/16" to 3/16" and checked my filter screen, it was clean. just took it for a rip and it still does it maybe not as bad. if i move the needle up a clip its to rich right off idle -3/4 throttle with the 30 pilot and 1.5-2.5on the air screw. basically no mater how i jet it so it runs good i still have this problem. if i dont hold wot for a long period of time it runs good and idles down fine. i set my floats to almost overflow. has all new gas line. pulled the lines off the carbs and turned the fuel on, had good flow out both.
do i need dual pingel petcock?
are the t5's holding to much heat in?
something to do with elictrical-timing?
do the stock bowls run dry often with a 360 main?
Thanks guys, never thought of the cap not letting enough air in, its an aftermarket cap so ill drill the hole as big as i can. I guess is better check the petcock screen to. This makes sence since i tried some 30pwk okos and had the same problem and the bike runs real good besides that
i have a 421 serval im trying to get running good, it has stock carbs with a 350 main, 30 pilot and stock needle on middle clip with a toomey 2:1 filter on 91 pump. im at 600 asl in 80* weather. ive done a leakdown test and its good. the compression is 157 160. my plug chop looks a lil ritch.
my problem is when i do a couple wot runs 1-6 back to back or sometimes just one i get a high idle when i pull the clutch to stop, it takes about 15 seconds to idle down to normal. the question is what else would cause this if theres no leaks and it isnt lean? the pilot it def one to big. maybe it is deto? theres no signs of it on the plugs, is 160psi for a serval on pump safe? it only does it once its hot
thanks
can anyone give me a ball park on jetting a 421 serval with stock carbs, t5's, +2 timing, toomey 2-1 filter, 600' asl, 80-90* weather, running 94 octane, 155lbs comp
well, if you put the new motor back together and put the pipes back on with pieces of motor still in them, theres a good chance the pieces got back into you new motor. i would at least pull the pipes to get all the crap out, and while there off look through the exhaust port for damage.
Well my plan is to buy a serval in the fall, so if i get the crank now since i need a new one and got cut domes to run my stock strock ported cylinders sor a few months would it run like crap or just not have it full potential? I live in canada so shipping + port work on my 65.5 mm cylinders just doesnt seem like a good idea. If i can find a nice set of stockers ready for the crank on here ill go that rout. What about the vitos new style cylinders? They any good?im not looking for any type of drag set, more like a trail/dune
i was just wondering how it would run if i put a 4mil long rod crank with a set stock stroke trail/dune ported cylinders together? i need a new crank and want to go with a 4mil and save for nice cylinders later. would i still see some gains or will it just run like crap?
