Duneable overide question

Did anyone ever try running a duneable overide ( 1-4 ) without the springs ? My springs have seen better days, and were binding up my one shift fork. Any info will be appreciated.

John, that was the Buss hills. My white bike is nothing special. Mild port, cut head, and some kind of 1 off custom billet reed cages that Boysen made. I bought that bike off Boysen 2 years ago. +4 swingarm.
