On my builds, I only recommend it for drag applications or dune bikes for riders under 170 lbs. It does not make more hp, simply allows your engine to rev up faster to make your holeshot better. Not a good mod for a trail bike, makes it difficult to mantain any rpm especially lower rpms. At 220, I seriously doubt you would appreciate a lightened flywheel.

Port pics and sizes.

Yes, I run a small performance shop here in UT. Stock stroke aggressive trail port would run $225 plus shipping, add $250 for new pistons and bore/hone if wanted. Portwork is matched to your pipes and rider weight. Jetting recommendations included. I have many other more aggressive porting options and other performance options available as well. If you're ever interested PM me and we can discuss a build that suits your needs. However, I for one wouldn't discourage someone from trying thier hand at it, every builder had a first set. -Brandon -
Looks like the previous owner burned it down. Those pits are from chunks of piston/ring smashed into the head, Your current pistons look just fine. Off the top of my head those are wiseco numbers for a .040 over prolite piston (65mm bore). Hope that helps.

Those are definately two thing that could cause those symptoms. -

Exhaust and transfer heights and widths are going to be the biggest factor on how a port job performs. The main concept on intake design (which oddly enough is the first place 9 of 10 people look on a ported set of cylinders) is to increase flow without slowing velocity. I personally style my intakes very similar to the first set that jbooker posted. But, as said before...transfers and exhaust are really the biggest part to a good port job. -
Cheapest cylinder boring?
Wildcardracing replied to Bansheeb0y5505's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Figured it was in PA or somewhere back east. Jim's screenname is PASSIONRE, and I'll agree...he has very hard prices to beat. I've done work on here for a handfull of guys, maybe they'll chime in. But, my honest recommendation is to find an automotive machine shop local to do your bore jobs. If we were talking about portwork, it'd be a different story. But, once you factor in round trip shipping my price is now $155 based on est. $35 each way. I'm sure you'd be able to find a very reputable shop for that kind of money. -
OMG piston skirt.... just saw it
Wildcardracing replied to jerod187's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I'm still confused as to why he was kicking it over without the jugs on???....Connecting rods had to beat the hell out of the cases! -
Best Air Intake setup for the Shee
Wildcardracing replied to mdhc500's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
FMF's, no snorkel, lid-on and stock filter should be @260 mains for your altitude needle in middle clip, 1.5 out on air screws and stock pilot. Once you go to a pro-flo and no lid your mains will go up to 280-290 and your pilot will go up to 27.5, depending on if you go with foam or K&N filter. That's assuming that your fmf's are your only current engine mod. As for the filters, the dual pods are worth more power...but for a trail bike I like the pro-flo better. -
perfectly normal bud...

Cheapest cylinder boring?

Where is Stroudsburg??? I charge $85 a pair, done on a precision hone up to .010" and on a bar for over .010" -
Does this look like normal piston wear?
Wildcardracing replied to KlotzBanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
That's some funny shit right there....lol :yelrotflmao: Oh, and before I get too off topic... the pistons look fine to me as well. a small amount of rub is normal on your piston skirts. Just make sure you have done a good plug chop to verify your jetting and ride it! -
.018"-.020" if anyone else wants to know...lol

I deal with Lance (slcquadcustoms) on a weekly basis. He is a great guy with an awesome product. He is currently moving his business to Oregon, but will continue to build some of the finest quality arms I've seen. He doesn't do many of the arched arms, but will build them when someone wants one as a special order only (doesn't stock them). They are a little more pricey than the standard straight ladder bar arms. I will vouch for the quality of these arms any day.

That's 66.5mm bore. Really pushin your luck on that bore, if there's enough material in your sleeves to go that far you'll likely have overheating issues. I'd say it's time to start looking for some new jugs. I can usually source a set of stock bore virgins for $250, better deals can be found on here at times. Must have been pretty bad to need that far of an overbore.

Gearing may have played a small part, swapped bikes and had the same results. Stock for stock the yfz wins, but once you put pipes and a better filter setup on each bike the banshee pulls ahead.

Go to www.cascadeinnovations.com, every billet piece you can imagine for you shee is on there. You'll have to buy them separately, but the quality will be better than those "complete" kits you can find on ebay.

Here is your yfz vs. banshee pic of the day..lol Banshee= mild cleanup port, fmf fatties, uni pods, coolhead/18cc dome(5000' elevation on pumpgas) YFZ=Ron Woods Racing Pipe and Intake, Boyesen accelerator pump, Power now valves, Dyna FS ignition 5 out of 5 races up chokecherry=same results every time, he was pissed!

That sucks, sad part is that it's only going to get worse everywhere with time. I feel bad for anyone into powersports who lives on the east coast with all the liberal greenies to contend with. I'm sure it's legal to camp, picknic or ride mtn. bikes there. That shit tears things up just as bad. I believe in being stewards of our environment, but come on...do we have to give up every form of entertainment. Start with the small..but large issues. If you want to do something for the environment, pick up some litter or recycle. 3% of our population has somehow become the majority and can tell everyone else how to live thier lives and it's bullshit! The environmental movement is the single largest cause for our declining economy, all of the legislation they have lobbied for has done nothing but drive industry out of our country. We are now an entire country of consumers, being lead by idiots who think the only part of the equation to having a strong economy is spending money. Somehow our leaders have forgot that we need a product to sell as well. I could go on for days about this issue, it just frustrates me that everywhere I look all I see is environmentalists shutting down everything fun or good for our country. They won't stop utill we are all cold, hungry, naked and alone!!! Why havent the other 97% of Americans stood up to say enough is enough??? I think everyone who supports ATV riding in your area should show up to that court case to defend your right to have places to ride. ATV parks, whatever...just don't sit back and let that 3% majortiy decide what you can and can't do.

Check out jjandaracing.com, they have the nicest axles anywhere IMO. $650 for everything.

No he's talkin about the pipe that connects the head pipe to the stingers, about 7 or 8 inches long. 278, I wish I could help ya out bud. I just threw away 2 or 3 stock exhaust systems a couple of months ago.

I haven't had much luck seeing any real gain with them in my portwork. I know passion uses them, there are some good pictures of them on his website (that's what his 12port is). 1/4 inch holes wouldn't require any tig welding, but I'm sure to see a gain you would have to go bigger and also cut an additional port window into your rear transfer port. They claim it helps low speed atomization and high speed flow. I'm going to play with them more extensively on my next personal engine. You can find a link to passions website in the dealers area of Noss machine.

Or the drain screws aren't properly seated.
-
It's not going to affect your jetting much if at all on the main. May require some tweaking of the air screws.

Here is a set of ported ones with boysen dual stage petals. I charge $50 a set for cages, they're kind of a PITA to do. not the best picture, shadows make them look crooked. I can assure you these look great and perform great. -slo
